Selling my extremely reliable HONDA CR-V.  This SUV's exterior is not bad, but if you need a better than average exterior, no need to continue, this SUV has seen 13 years of parking lots.  But the interior is near perfect. And the engine sounds just like it did the day it was first started on the dealer lot.

Here's a little history:I bought this car after it had been traded back to Honda for a new one. The first owner bought it new in Georgia, had it for 4 years and traded it at a Honda dealership for a new one. The second owner had it for 8 years and traded it at a Honda dealership for a new one. I am the third owner. Never been smoked in, never been off-road, never been in an accident, always been maintained. Car is super solid, no underbody rusted out parts. Doesn't leak or drip anything!

The Great: I just had the vehicle inspected and everything came back tip top except the sway bar bushings are starting to get a little loose.  Nothing that affects performance but they will have to be changed out in the future. Quoted me about $280.00 if I remember.  Timing Belt was just changed, New Water Pump just installed, New Head Gasket just installed, just had the recommended 30k rear differential service done. This baby needs nothing.

The not so Great: The only thing that I can say negatively about this vehicle is the scratches and dings all around. Tiny areas of rust near the back of the rear wheel wells, but NOT rusted through(see photos). No crashes mind you, but as I stated, 13 years of parking lots.  No new damage since I bought it.

This is the ultimate weekend warrior vehicle.  If you ski/snowboard, cycle/mountain bike, kayak/fish, or just like picnics/camping(see camping table)...then this is the type of vehicle you want. Extra quite fuel efficient SUV for regular driving, but the capabilities to tow and haul anything you need to get some ultimate fun.

The only reason I'm selling is because I just bought a Nissan Xterra, otherwise not a chance I let it go!!! It's that good.  You might be able to find the same vehicle with lower miles, but that just means you're going to have to do all the maintainence that has already been done on mine(just check the timing belt replacement cost)...if you don't have to, it means you'll be paying a lot more.

My ebay rating is perfect because I always tell the truth about whatever I sell! And I always complete my transactions perfectly!  If you have any questions, feel free to ask and if I know the answer, you'll know it.

When looking at the photos please note, I have not cleaned this vehicle. I used an HD Nikon camera on a tri-pod so you know that what you see is what you get.  The exterior is not showroom, but the vehicle runs flawlessly.  Good luck!!!

PS. When the bidding gets over $5500.00 or the Buy It Now option is selected, I'll include the THULE car topper that is shown in the photos!

Brand new cars are being sold with defective Takata airbags

Wed, Jun 1 2016

If you just bought a 2016 Audi TT, 2017 Audi R8, 2016–17 Mitsubishi i-MiEV, or 2016 Volkswagen CC, we have some unsettling news for you. A report provided to a US Senate committee that oversees the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and reported on by Automotive News claims these vehicles were sold with defective Takata airbags. And it gets worse. Toyota and FCA are called out in the report for continuing to build vehicles that will need to be recalled down the line for the same issue. That's not all. The report also states that of the airbags that have been replaced already in the Takata recall campaign, 2.1 million will need to eventually be replaced again. They don't have the drying agent that prevents the degradation of the ammonium nitrate, which can lead to explosions that can destroy the airbag housing and propel metal fragments at occupants. So these airbags are out there already. We're not done yet. There's also a stockpile of about 580,000 airbags waiting to be installed in cars coming in to have their defective airbags replaced. These 580k airbags also don't have the drying agent. They'll need to be replaced down the road, too. A new vehicle with a defective Takata airbag should be safe to drive, but that margin of safety decreases with time. If all this has you spinning around in a frustrated, agitated mess, there's a silver lining that is better than it sounds. So take a breath, run your fingers through your hair, and read on. Our best evidence right now demonstrates that defective Takata airbags – those without the drying agent that prevents humidity from degrading the ammonium nitrate propellant – aren't dangerous yet. It takes a long period of time combined with high humidity for them to reach the point where they can rupture their housing and cause serious injury. It's a matter of years, not days. So a new vehicle with a defective Takata airbag should be safe to drive, but that margin of safety decreases with time – and six years seems to be about as early as the degradation happens in the worst possible scenario. All this is small comfort for the millions of people who just realized their brand-new car has a time bomb installed in the wheel or dashboard, or the owners who waited patiently to have their airbags replaced only to discover that the new airbag is probably defective in the same way (although newer and safer!) as the old one.

Recharge Wrap-up: 2015 Honda CR-Z now on sale, Daimler and Linde building hydrogen stations in Germany

Fri, Oct 10 2014

The 2015 Honda CR-Z hybrid is now available at dealerships, for slightly more money. The CR-Z starts at an MSRP of $20,145 (plus $790 in destination charges), up from the $19,995 price of the 2014 model. For those who don't want to row their own gears with the six-speed manual transmission, the available CVT adds an extra $650 to the price, but also offers better fuel economy, especially in the city. The manual-equipped CR-Z gets 31 mpg city/38 highway/34 combined, while the CVT version is rated at 36/39/37 mpg. The 1.5-liter engine and electric motor provide a combined peak 130 horsepower. The manual CR-Z offers 140 pound-feet of torque, with the CVT version providing 127 pound-feet. Customers can also soup up their new CR-Z with upgrades (including a supercharger) from Honda Performance Development. Learn more in the press release below. Daimler and Linde are teaming up to build hydrogen fueling stations in Germany. The automaker and gases and engineering company, with the help of a few oil and gas companies, plan to install 13 new stations by the end of 2015. The installations precede a push by Daimler to get more fuel cell vehicles on the road. "From 2017, we are planning to bring competitively priced fuel-cell vehicles to market," says Daimler's Herbert Kohler. "So now is the time to build a nationwide fuelling infrastructure." Linde will supply the stations with fully renewable hydrogen. Read more in the press release below. In 1899, an EV set a world landspeed record, and Wired has revisited the story with a nice look back at the "La Jamais Contente" and its driver, Belgian engineer Camille Jenatzy. Jenatzy built an electric car to race in a hillclimb, which he won while clocking a top speed of 17 miles per hour (measured the old-timey way - without radar guns). Just a few weeks later, another man set a landspeed record of 32 miles per hour, beginning a back-and-forth series of setting new records. Then, on April 29, 1899, "The Red Devil," as Jenatzy became known as, surpassed 100 kph (62 mph) when his torpedo-shaped electric car set a record of 65.8 mph. It was powered by two 25-kilowatt electric motors. Read the whole story over at Wired.

Honda finds new Green Path to reduce CO2 emissions

Fri, Sep 25 2015

In the wake of the Volkswagen diesel scandal, it's impossible to hear an automaker talk about its overall environmental efforts and not think to yourself, "for real?" Still, we're willing to listen. And Honda representatives gave it their best shot yesterday in Marysville, OH as they introduced a small group of journalist to the company's expanded initiative aimed at cutting CO2 emissions and the total life-cycle environmental impact of Honda products. Called Green Path, the initiative now includes a $210-million expansion at Honda's Marysville, OH manufacturing plant to install a better, cleaner paint shop. Speaking at the facility yesterday, Honda representatives said that the plant room is not only better for the environment (it uses limestone dust instead of water to capture paint particles, for example, reducing water usage by about 2 million gallons annually. Overall, the new paint shop will have 60 percent less VOC emissions and reduce CO2 emissions by 18 percent), it also makes the cars look better. That's whey the two-step temperature curing process will initially only be used on Acuras to differentiate them from the competition. Honda will fire up trials in late 2017. There's more to Green Path than the new paint show, of course. The company wants to reduce - in some cases eliminate - what it calls substances of concern (SOCs), things like lead and mercury. There are also new wind turbines in Ohio to supply power to Honda plants, the Environmental Leadership Program for independent dealerships to make their own green moves, and swapping out fluorescent light bulbs for LEDs, among other efforts. In the Marysville Auto Plant, for example, the Assembly department has over 10,000 task light bulbs. The fluorescent ones used to need to be replaced every three years, but the new LEDs have a life span of 16 years. Honda says that calculating up the impact of all of these little changes will remove an average of 3.822 kilograms of CO2 from the production tally of each car it makes. The company's stated goal is to reduce its total greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent (compared to 2000 levels) by 2050. You can find out more in Honda's press release and video, below.
