2008 Honda Accord Ex-l V6 4-door / One Owner / 23k Miles On Complete New Engine on 2040-cars
Frisco, Texas, United States
Honda's Accord gets a
completely new, more sophisticated and detail-oriented look for 2008, along
with a complete mechanical redesign. It's slightly larger overall, including
almost three inches more length than the 2007 model, but more notably it's slightly
wider, making the interior 1.5 inches wider as well. This wider stance allows
the front seats to be set farther apart with a more expansive center console. Seats
and seating are a particular area of change for the new Accord. In front, they
are more generously apportioned, and Honda boasts that the front and rear seats
now bring equal comfort to front and rear passengers. Overall, interior volume
is up to 120 cubic feet, which officially classifies the Accord as a large
sedan rather than a midsize one. Despite being larger, the Accord has improved
torsional rigidity, which allowed Honda engineers to tune the suspension for
optimal ride and handling--there are double wishbones in front and a multi-link
setup in back, along with wide tires across the model line. Wheels range from
16-inch steel wheels on base models up to 17-inch alloys on up-level coupes and
sedans; and on the coupe, 18-inch alloys are now available. The new Accord is
offered with either a 2.4L four-cylinder engine, making either 177 horsepower
or 190 horsepower, depending on the model, or a 3.5L V6 making 268 horsepower.
The V6 comes with the newest version of Honda's variable cylinder management
(VCM) system, which can shut down two or three cylinders when possible to
increase fuel efficiency. This helps the V6 achieve 19-mpg city and 29-mpg
highway. The four-cylinder Accords are rated at 22-mpg city and 31-mpg highway
when equipped with a manual transmission. *The more powerful, 190-horsepower
version of the four-cylinder engine uses a variable-valve silencer and
high-flow exhaust system to bring improved performance with no penalty in fuel
efficiency. This version is standard on base LX and upscale EX coupes, and also
on mid-level EX sedans. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on all
four-cylinder engines, while a five-speed automatic is optional with the four
and standard with the V6. A six-speed manual transmission is exclusively
offered on the EX-L coupe. The list of standard safety equipment now includes
vehicle stability assist and active front head restraints, along with front
side air bags, full-length side curtain air bags, and four-wheel anti-lock disc
brakes with brake assist. Sound systems have been revamped. All of them now
have MP3 and WMA compatibility and an auxiliary input jack. The base system has
160 watts, a CD player, and six speakers; all now have RDS program information.
Middle-trim models add a six-disc CD changer, while top models bring the
premium audio system, with 270 watts, seven speakers, an eight-inch subwoofer,
and available XM satellite radio. There's also a navigation system that
includes a Bluetooth hands-free phone link, voice activation, and an integrated
Zagat guide. The Accord is now offered in two primary trims, the economical LX
or more luxurious EX. EX models are dressed up with alloy wheels, a chrome
exhaust tip, and blue ambient interior lighting, and include more luxury items
such as heated mirrors, a moon roof, and a security system. At the top of the
range is the EX-L, which adds leather seating and trim, upgraded
instrumentation, dual-zone climate control, and the premium audio system with
active noise cancellation. * Based on 2008/2009 EPA mileage estimates,
reflecting new EPA fuel economy methods beginning with 2008/2009 models. Use
for comparison purposes only. Do not compare to models before 2008/2009. Your
actual mileage will vary depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle. Want a car to make heads turn and take notice, as you drive by in the lap of luxury? Well, look no further than this outstanding 2008 Honda Accord. J.D. Power and Associates gave the 2008 Accord 4 out of 5 Power Circles for Overall Initial Quality Design. Edmunds.com said, "...The Honda Accord offers an appealing combination of spaciousness, a relatively upscale feel and a reputation for reliability..." This Accord will allow you to dominate the road with style, and get wonderful gas mileage while you're at it. It is nicely equipped with features such as 3.5L V6 SOHC i-VTEC 24V.

NSX Concept-GT is the world's hottest way to boil water
Sat, 05 Oct 2013The Honda NSX Concept-GT is one sexy machine, and it looks to be a very effective tool on a race circuit. But Honda's latest web spot leads us to believe that it also can be used to make tea.
In the video, the racecar is hooked up to an apparatus that uses tubing to harness the energy from the car's 500-horsepower hybrid drive system, using it to boil water. The novel tea-making technique reminds us a bit of a couple other inventive Honda commercials, namely Hands and Cog.
Watch the NSX ad below, and be sure to turn the sound up to hear that glorious engine note.
Former Honda CEOs chide current boss about quality
Thu, 13 Nov 2014Taking charge of a major corporation will never be without its challenges, and one of those - as Honda CEO Takanobu Ito is finding out - is filling the big shoes of those that came before. Ito's predecessors are apparently not pleased with what he's doing to the company, and are wasting no time in telling him so.
According to Reuters, two former Honda chiefs have recently visited Ito (pictured above with his predecessor Takeo Fukui) to talk to him about the Japanese automaker's quality issues, which they apparently regard as eroding the company's image. Nobuhiko Kawamoto, who served as CEO from 1990-98, reportedly came to Honda headquarters in Tokyo to deliver "stern words" to Ito last month. Kawamoto's immediate successor, Hiroyuki Yoshino, reportedly met with Ito under similar circumstances earlier this year.
Kawamoto and Yoshino are part of a larger group of former Honda executives who are concerned with the declining quality of the company's products under Ito's leadership. Where Honda once focused more on quality, collaborating more closely with parts suppliers, more recently the company has, in the eyes of those former executives at least, shifted its focus to quantity and to new technologies. That's what, the report alleges, has led to Honda recalling so many of its vehicles in recent years.
Mugen works up 2014 Honda Fit
Fri, 06 Sep 2013It turns out the Mugen really is fast. Just yesterday we got our first official look at the JDM version of the all new Honda Fit. In both Hybrid and minty-fresh RS trim, the Japanese Fit is more complexly surfaced and angular than in any of the previous generations. Mugen has apparently been working with the new Fit body for a while, as the tuning house has just released some images and information about parts for the new hatchback.
Suddenly the original Honda styling seems somewhat restrained.
Mugen has crafted body kit parts to work with both the Hybrid and RS models, right from go. Though detailed information is still a little sparse, we're told that parts include: two types of front spoilers, a bumper and a chin spoiler, side skirts, and a carbon fiber rear wing (for the RS).
