Year:2002 Mileage:171000
Location:

Charlottesville, Virginia, United States

2002 Honda Accord Special Edition
Approximately 171k miles
Automatic Transmission

- ICE Cold A/C
- Sunroof (works great!)
- Alloy Wheels
- CD Player, Tape Player, and AM/FM all work great
- Cruise control, power windows, power locks with remote (too much to list)
- Tires have about 85% tread remaining and brakes were replaced 8k miles ago
- Just passed VA State inspection in January with no problems
- Very clean car inside and out
- Clean title in hand waiting for a new owner

The Bad:
- Transmission slips some. It has done this for the two years I have owned the car and has never gotten any better or any worse. I tried flushing the transmission, but that made no difference. A mechanic at the Honda Dealership told me that some of them just do that and it will probably do that forever and be fine.
- As you can see in the pictures, there are several spots where the paint is peeling. There is no rust and all Hondas in that generation have issues with the paint, so this is normal.

Other than that, there is nothing wrong with the car. It needs nothing at all and would provide reliable and affordable transportation for years to come.

Save money at the pump and at the shop and buy a Honda!

KBB range is $3270 to $3920, but my reserve is WAY below that due to the transmission issue.

Come take a look at it and take it for a drive but do not act surprised about the trans.  I want to emphasize that despite the slipping transmission, this vehicle is COMPLETELY drivable and I have been driving it that way for two years with no problems what-so-ever.  If you drive it like a race car and floor the accelerator, it will rev up between gears and spin tires, but if you let off the throttle just a little between gears, it hardly slips at all.  This car is not a race car and should not be driven like one.

The winning bidder is required to pay a $500 deposit via paypal within 72 hours of the end of the auction.  The balance is to be paid in cash when picking up the vehicle within 7 days of the end of the auction.  I can deliver the car to you for $1.50/mile from zip code 22901, email me for more details.

Please feel free to email if you have any questions about the car or would like to schedule a time to come inspect it.  I live in Charlottesville, VA 22901.

Honda recalling 183k cars and crossovers over unintended braking issue

Thu, 14 Mar 2013

A recall has been issued for nearly 183,000 Honda and Acura brand vehicles from the 2005 and 2006 model years. The problem stems from a potential malfunctions to the vehicles' stability control and braking systems.
Drivers have reported a malfunction to Honda's Vehicle Stability Assist system, though to date, no crashes or injuries have been reported as a result of it. Some of the vehicles' Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) control units may have an electric capacitor that was damaged during manufacture. A damaged control unit could cause the VSA system to apply brake force for a "fraction of a second" without any driver input, or could add additional brake force if it malfunctions while the driver is already braking. Either example could increase the risk of a crash.
To fix the issue, Honda will install a new electrical sub-harness, free of charge to the owner. The recall specifies 101,000 Honda Pilot (pictured), 60,000 Acura MDX and 21,000 Acura RL vehicles from the 2005 model year will be affected. An additional 800 MDX crossovers from the 2006 model year are also included in the recall. In addition, 51,000 of the affected 2005 Pilots will be inspected to be sure that a ground bolt for the VSA system is properly tight. Should this bolt come lose, similar unexpected brake activation may occur.

New Honda ad has Senna, Type R, Asimo, and astronauts

Mon, Aug 17 2015

Now that Honda is back into the guts-and-performance game, automotively speaking, the Japanese company has hit the throttle on hardcore imagery. Its latest is in an ad for the company itself highlighting a small selection of its ample range of products, from motorcycles to an airplane and the coming Acura NSX, branded Honda in other markets. Called "Ignition," Wieden+Kennedy created the 90-second spot for Honda Motor Europe, with the tagline "Dare to do what others only dream of." The theme is a space launch, to give that "feeling of daring and human endeavor," perfectly supported by the print artwork with Asimo the robot up front and fabulously complicated hybrid V6 power units spewing flames from the Formula 1 cars in back. Then there's the family in the HR-V in the middle, defying gravity and sipping from juice boxes, because space is for everyone. Ayrton Senna makes a cameo again, and a Stanley Kubrick aesthetic hangs all over the production. You can check out the ad in the video above.

Takata airbag recalls add another 5 million vehicles

Fri, May 15 2015

The Takata airbag inflator recall expanded by about 6.5 million vehicles recently when Toyota and Nissan announced global expansions to replace the faulty parts. You can add another 5 million more as Honda and Daihatsu also broaden their replacement campaigns. Although in this latest case, none of the affected models are in the United States or Canada. Honda is recalling 4.89 million more vehicles globally, and Daihatsu has about 260,000 to repair in Japan, according to Automotive News. With these latest expansions, all of the affected automakers have needed to fix about 36 million vehicles globally for these faulty airbags since 2008. Some of the first instances of these problems were found in an Isuzu campaign in 2001. This latest round of recalls was sparked by a study from Takata that found the inflators' propellant could be affected by moisture over time. While the automakers received this information in March, it took time to determine the number of vehicles in need of repair and where they were located, according to Automotive News. To make sure all of the affected vehicles in the US are repaired in a timely fashion, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is reportedly considering a strategy to force things to speed up. Honda and Toyota are already using outside suppliers for the parts they need.
