1997 Honda Accord Lx / 4 Door / Automatic / Estate Sale / Low 77,040 Miles on 2040-cars
San Ramon, California, United States
RARE FIND! SUPER LOW MILES! PROFESSIONALLY SERVICED SINCE NEW; RECEIPTS INCLUDED!
I am assisting a friend with the sale of her incredibly well-maintained sedan. I've previously sold two vehicles on eBay to very satisfied buyers. I tell it like it is so there will be no surprises. I have sold on eBay for 15 years, and have a perfect feedback score. This Honda Accord LX was purchased brand new in Dublin, CA by a grandmother. Her granddaughter inherited the car from her estate in 2012. She does not need it. The car has always been in California, never been in snow or salt. The car drives nice, as you would expect for a well-maintained, low-mileage sedan. No noises, squeaks, rattles, pulling to one side, steering wheel shake, or anything along those lines. If you are looking for a great commuter, high school, college, or family car, this is the one. All maintenance services were completed at the Honda dealer, or other trusted facilities, since new. Most service receipts since new are included (see photo of receipts). Too many maintenance service receipts to list here (see photo), but these are some of the larger items completed: Factory 7.5K service completed, oil changed @ 8,710 miles. / Factory 22.5K service completed, oil changed ($76.06) @ 21,774 miles. / Factory 30K service completed, new transmission fluid, new coolant, spark plugs, fuel filter, valve adjustment, oil changed ($430.15) @ 26,588 miles. / Oil changed @ 29,608 miles. / Factory 37.5K service completed, new timing belt, water pump, drive belts, valve cover gasket, oil changed ($553.90) @ 33,792. / New brake fluid, new engine coolant, transmission fluid changed, spark plugs, distributor cap, oil changed ($306.90) @ 38,813 miles. / Replaced spark plug tube seals ($394.25) @ 38,814 miles. / New wiper blades, oil changed @ 41,040 miles. / A/C serviced and recharged, new transmission fluid, new wiper blades, oil changed ($424.20) @ 43,172 miles. / Factory intermediate service completed, adjust valves, new transmission fluid, oil changed ($202.06) @ 44,493 miles. / Oil changed @ 48,056 miles. / New fuel filter, air filter, oil changed ($182.96) @ 51,096 miles. / Oil changed @ 54,591 miles. / New timing belt, drive belts, water pump, valve cover gasket ($772.29) @ 56,356 miles. / Oil changed @ 57,764 miles. / Oil changed @ 60,138 miles. / Oil changed @ 62,813 miles. / Oil changed @ 66,390 miles. / Oil changed @ 69,075 miles. / New Uniroyal tires purchased, mounted, balanced, new front brake pads, resurfaced rotors, front end alignment, oil changed ($721.70) @ 71,197miles. / Oil change @ 74,517 miles. / TIRES & FRONT BRAKES ONLY HAVE 6K USE; TIMING BELT HAS 21K USE; 85 MONTH BATTERY WARRANTY IS GOOD FOR 3 MORE YEARS. Non-smoker tan cloth interior. Seats are not torn. Overall, the interior in good condition. There is a lipstick stain/spot on the backseat cushion (about silver dollar in size). The car has only been washed, not detailed. One rear electric door lock sticks on occasion, but works manually OK. A/C has been previously serviced and blows cold. Aftermarket JVC AM/FM/CD player professionally installed. Factory floor mats included. Original keys & spares included. Keyless entry fob not included (lost). Clear title; not salvaged. Original steel and original paint; no panel replacements or paint work. There is one dent (golf ball size) in the quarter panel due to the family living in a golf course community (see photos). I noticed three (3) other dings. A few other light scratches and rock chips in the hood that you would expect from normal use. Windows OK. Windshield was replaced last year. Please send any questions along with your phone number. The registered owner (granddaughter) will contact you. This is a private party sale and vehicle is sold in "as-is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied from registered owner to winning bidder. Winning bidder must make contact within 24 hours of the end of the auction to make payment arrangements. Full payment due by Friday following auction. Car will not be released until funds are received and cleared. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping. If you are a California buyer, allow time and funds for a DMV or AAA visit with the granddaughter to ensure a proper transfer of ownership. California License Plate Registration is current to 6/26/2014. California Smog Certificate (if needed) will be provided to buyer. On Apr-06-14 at 15:59:35 PDT, seller added the following information: You can shop around, but nice Honda cars are scarce. Don't bid conservatively & get stuck buying a dealer "deal" like this one: http://www.auto.com/cars/Honda-Accord-DX-1997-1HGCD5522VA065248 $7,439 with 163,000 miles. Basic DX model with stick shift. How many previous owners? Service history? Accidents? You may never know. |

Average new-car fuel economy figures continue record pace
Sat, 13 Jul 2013Manufacturers are making more efficient cars and trucks; we've known that to be true for some time. Nearly every new car has some sort of trick to eke a few extra miles out of every gallon of fuel. Whether that be turbocharging, active aerodynamics or hybrid technology/electrified powertrains, the fact is that our vehicles are more efficient than ever before.
Thanks to a recent study by TrueCar, we've got fresh quantitative data to support the above statements. For the fourth month in a row, we've seen an improvement in national fleet fuel economy. We Americans are 0.7 miles per gallon more efficient than we were last month, and our cars are 1.6-mpg better than at this time last year. That said, we're still down on 2013's high, which was set back in January at 24.5 mpg.
Not only does this reflect the improved technologies in our vehicles, but it demonstrates a changing mindset among consumers, who are purchasing more efficient vehicles despite the relative stabilization of fuel prices. Every fuel-efficient model sold drives its manufacturers fleet average up.
Acura replaces chief Accavitti with designer Ikeda
Tue, Jul 28 2015Acura is shaking up its senior leadership, as Honda ushers the current chief of its luxury division out the door and replaces him with a new one. Exiting stage left is Mike Accavitti, who held the reins at the premium automaker as its senior vice president and general manager of the Acura division. Taking his place will be Jon Ikeda, one of the Japanese automaker's most senior designers. Accavitti (pictured above at left) had been promoted to the job from his previous position as senior vice president of auto operations after Honda separated the Acura brand into its own division. He had previously served as a senior executive at Chrysler, rising up the ranks to run the Dodge brand, and joined Honda in 2011 as its chief marketing officer. At this point it remains unclear why Accavitti is leaving and where he might land, but Honda says he's leaving the company altogether. To replace Accavitti, Honda has named Jon Ikeda (pictured above at right), a veteran designer with the company. A graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, Ikeda has worked for Honda on both sides of the Pacific since 1989. He previous headed up the design and product planning divisions at Honda's American R&D operations, and was instrumental in creating an independent design office for the Acura brand, separate from Honda's. This isn't the first time we've seen Accavitti replaced in his role as a senior executive by a design veteran. After only four months at CEO of the Dodge brand, he was replaced by Ralph Gilles, who retained his role as senior vice president of design for the entire Chrysler group in parallel. Gilles was ultimately replaced as head of Dodge as well, but was recently promoted to serve as head of design for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. July 27, 2015 – Acura today announced that Jon Ikeda has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager of the Acura Division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. In this role, Ikeda will oversee all Acura brand activities including sales, marketing and parts and service. Ikeda was formerly Division Director of Auto Design at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. (HRA). He began his career at Honda in Japan in 1989, joining the advanced design studio in Tokyo, where he worked on the award-winning Honda FSX show car. After six years in Japan, he returned to Los Angeles in 1995, to continue his career at Honda R&D in Torrance, California.
