GM recalls trucks and SUVs for brake pedal problem

The Basics: General Motors will recall over 473,000 North American examples of the 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD, and police pursuit versions of the Chevy Tahoe. These include 426,573 vehicles in the US and 46,837 in Canada, according to Reuters. The Problem: The brake pivot nut can loosen over time, which can render the pedal inoperative. This would be a danger to drivers trying to stop the vehicles. In some cases, the "Service Engine Soon" light might come on. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Dealers will inspect the pivot bolt, and if necessary they will apply adhesive to it and reinstall the part with increased torque. Correction: Dealers will inspect the pivot bolt installation to determine whether the vehicle has already received the production remedy. If not, the dealer will add adhesive to the nut, and reinstall the nut at an increased torque. GM to sell rebranded Peugeot vans in US?

According to a report by France's La Tribune cited by Reuters, General Motors and Peugeot are discussing the possibility of selling PSA Peugeot-Citroën commercial vans in the US through The General's dealership network. While specific models and what brand they may sell under stateside are not immediately clear, the move isn't entirely out of the blue, particularly since GM owns seven percent of the French automaker.
Peugeot and GM already have a joint-venture agreement to ease costs associated with vehicle development and procuring parts, and while the progress of the arrangement has been inhibited some by Europe's difficult economy, the two automakers are looking to expand the relationship. With sales in the dumpster, Peugeot's long-term prospects have looked particularly shaky as of late, and GM could use a modern commercial van lineup to better compete with North America's suddenly modern and Euro-fied competition. Mercedes-Benz kicked off the high-roof trend with its Sprinter, and for 2014, Ford is following with its Transit van (joining its smaller Transit Connect sibling), while Chrysler is leveraging its relationship with Fiat to rebrand the Ducato range of vans as Ram Promaster models.
Peugeot already has a full line of commercial van solutions in its stable, from its compact Partner and Bipper models to the larger Expert and Boxer models, which are available in a variety of cargo and people-carrying configurations.

2019 GMC Sierra spied sporting just a thin wrapping

A new Chevy Silverado is on the way, and along with that comes it's fraternal twin, the GMC Sierra. We've seen spy shots before, but, like the Silverado we saw a few days ago, this is our best look yet. Nearly all of the loose-fitting camouflage has been removed, giving us a decent view of the bodywork. A brief look shows that the Sierra and Silverado will have significant styling differences for this generation. In the past, GMC trucks have been little more than rebadged Chevrolets. That's been changing in recent years, and the divide seems to be growing larger. The grille looks much larger than the Silverado's and there appears to be a small inlet right where the hood meets the front. From the side, we can see that the two trucks have different fenders and beds. The wheel wells on the GMC are squared off at the rear. Compare that to the round wells on the Chevy. Out back, the design is far more similar. Both trucks appear to have rear-facing exhaust outlets. The taillights, too, look to have close to the same shape. A big bulge in the center of the tailgate likely hides a large GMC badge. We still don't have a firm reveal date, but look for some further news this auto show season. Related Video:
