2019 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE spy shots show new bumpers and tailgate
Mon, Mar 12 2018When the new 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 debuted two weeks ago, GM's truck division showed off just the two top trims, SLT and Denali. While the Denali might be the flagship Sierra, it's not likely to be the volume seller (though Denali models makes up almost a third of total GMC sales). These new spy shots show off the midrange SLE trim. It takes a more conservative, toned-down appearance compared to its brash brethren. The most obvious visual changes come at the front and rear. That big grille remains, but there are just three horizontal bars rather than the busier design from the SLT or Denali. The fog lights have been removed, too, though the C-shapped LED accent in the headlights has carried over. Out back, the SLE trim makes do without the trick MultiPro tailgate (it's limited to SLT and Denali models). It also has a different bumper as the exhaust exits just behind the right wheel. Badging on the fenders indicates that the truck has the updated 5.3-liter V8, meaning it's paired with an eight-speed transmission. The 6.2-liter V8 gets the new 10-speed auto. A 3.0-liter diesel inline-six will be available sometime down the road. GMC hasn't announced pricing, fuel economy or power ratings, but expect to see something in the next few months. J.D. Power customer survey of dealers counts Cadillac, Buick as big winners
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Cadillac and Buick have taken the trophies in J.D. Power's latest Customer Service Index Study examining satisfaction with dealer service. Surveying more than 90,000 owners and lessees of 2009-2013 model-year cars, the study found that those with pre-paid maintenance packages were ten percent more likely to buy their next car from the same brand.
Dealer satisfaction scores have improved overall, Cadillac nabbed the luxury segment ahead of Audi and Lexus, taking the crown that Lexus held last year. Buick keeps the mass-market dealer satisfaction win in the family, finishing ahead of Volkswagen and last year's winner GMC. The study also found that service department use of tablets increased customer satisfaction, as did "best practices" like "providing helpful advice." Who knew?

GMC Envoy could be returning as GM files for 'Envoy' trademark
Thu, Dec 27 2018The GMC Envoy could be on its way back, if a recent GM trademark filing is any indication of the future. To be exact, GM's trademark filing is for the name "Envoy," and is applicable to "motor vehicles, namely, sport utility vehicles, engines therefor and structural parts thereof." A victim of the recession and high gas prices, the original Envoy – related to the Blazer, and more recently the TrailBlazer and similar GM SUVs – was discontinued after the 2009 model year. In today's SUV-happy market of low gas prices, unearthing the somewhat familiar Envoy name makes a certain amount of sense. As soon as gas prices start trending in the other direction, we'll all be saying the opposite, though. What this SUV will take shape as is the big question now. With the Chevrolet Blazer well and truly on its way, there's every reason for a GMC version of Chevy's stylish new crossover sporting the Envoy name. Another, less likely, possibility is a Traverse-sized vehicle to slot between the shorter Acadia (10 inches shorter than the Chevy Traverse) and the body-on-frame Yukon. GM could come out of left field and make the Envoy a Buick too. It fits the bill with the "En" beginning, and Buick undoubtedly has crossovers in the works. We think that's even more unlikely, but it's important to remember that we're still in the speculation phase. Soon we'll drive Chevy's new Blazer, and perhaps have more news then.
