Up for auction is my 2004 (actually 2004.5) GMC Sierra SLT 3500 Duramax Dually 4 door crew cab, in immaculate Fine Silver Birch Metallic paint. Overall it is in exceptional condition. I am the 2nd owner. Here in CT, this truck does not need any emissions testing EVER due to GVWR. This was a CT truck for it's entire life, used to tow a camper around the country and move firewood. It was never a "work" truck. It is currently daily driven and gets consistently 15 mpg around town, a bit more on the highway. With a programmer on economy/tow mode, it would get more like 17 (I have never had a programmer on this truck). Clean title, and no known accidents. I am only selling because it is too much truck for my needs. I am looking to downsize to a more fuel efficient daily car and older pickup for the dirty work.

Injector balance rates checked out good about 6K miles ago. Balance rates were as follows:

Neutral (+/- 4 is the limit)

1: 1.2
2: -.2
3: -.9
4: 1.2
5: -3.4
6: -1.8
7: 2.8
8: 2.0

Drive (+/- 6 is the limit)

1: 1.4
2: -.3
3: -1.8
4: 1.2
5: -2.8
6: -.9
7: 3.1
8: .2

It starts perfectly on even the coldest morning without the assistance of the block heater (started flawlessly when it was down to -9 degrees last month, first thing in the morning without the plug)

Basic Rundown:

- LLY 6.6L V8 Duramax Diesel
- around 201,000 miles and going up, this truck is currently daily driven (picture shows mileage a few weeks ago when I took them at slightly lower mileage)
- Allison 5 speed automatic trans with Tow/Haul mode and factory trans temp gauge
- Push button 4x4 transfer case (2H/4H/4L)
- SLT Trim package (highest model)
- Gray Leather
- Dual Power and heated seats
- Power windows and locks
- Power heated tow mirrors
- On Star
- Cruise Control
- Full Driver's information center on dash
- Digital Dual HVAC controls, great Heat and A/C
- Rear stereo controls
- In Dash 6 CD changer
- Bose Stereo system
- Fog and bed lights

Recent Work:

- Front impact sensor replaced 100 miles ago (no airbag issues, sensor just quit which is common)
- Fuel filter changed 2K miles ago
- Engine oil and filter change with Rotella T6 fully synthetic 2K miles ago
- 6 new tires mounted and balanced 6K miles ago
- Front end alignment 6K miles ago - nothing noted as needing replacement in the front end and it aligned just fine
- A couple new tie rods 6K miles ago
- Completely rebuilt gauge cluster with all new servo motors and lighting 8K miles ago
- Transmission drained and filled with Transynd fully synthetic ATF and spin on filter replaced 8K miles ago - fluid dark, but I did not do a complete flush, just a drain.
- Transfer Case drained and filled with Transynd fully syntheitc ATF 8K miles ago
- Rear Diff Drained and filled with Amsoil extreme duty fully synthetic gear oil 8K miles ago
- Both front hubs replaced 15K miles ago
- Alternator replaced 15K miles ago
- Serpentine belt tensioner and accessory belt replaced 15K miles ago
- Water pump replaced 15K miles ago
- Coolant flushed 15K miles ago
- 2 new batteries roughly 1.5 years ago

Extras:

- Prodigy progressive brake controller
- 5th wheel rails in bed (I have never used them)
- Factory rear trailer hitch receiver
- AEM Brute force intake
- front bug deflector (currently not installed)
- Block heater
- Tubular chrome side steps

Issues/Work needed:

- Driver's seat has the typical edge rip and non-functional heater elements. Rear seat bottom middle has a rip smaller than a penny
- Cracks in the Dually bed sides (common and nearly unavoidable - noted in pictures)
- Interior of the bed is dinged/dented from moving firewood, etc - can get some pics, but the bed is full of snow right now
- Slight surge at idle. Possible cause is the Fuel Pressure Regulator on its way out, and does not affect driveability and is only noticeable at idle - a brand new FPR is included but not yet installed - it cost roughly $300
- Rockers are JUST starting to bubble on each side in small locations, noted in the pictures. Otherwise the underside and frame are very clean with only minor scale. Factory paint is still present on the frame, with the exception of the rear kickup and spare tire carrier area. You can blame the lovely CT road treatments for the minor stuff starting...
- Front diff was going to be drained and filled with amsoil when I changed the oil next. Included is the necessary amsoil to drain and fill the front diff.
- Minor paint blemishes here and there typical of a 10 year old vehicle. Nothing too significant, as the pics show
- I would give the trans a full flush at the next service. It has never given me issues, but I'd like to replace ALL of the fluid, not just a drain and fill as I did which only gets 50% of the old fluid out

You will not be disappointed by this truck. It is extremely reliable and has been well maintained. It is ready to be daily driven. I currently have a loan out on this truck, so the title will be retrieved when payment is received in full (paypal, cash or bank check only - payment must clear at the credit union before I can get the title) Non-refundable $500 deposit due w/in 48 hours of auction ending - no exceptions. I will relist immediately if this is not met. Payment must be received in full within 7 days of auction end, at which point the vehicle must be picked up within 14 days of auction end.

KBB Value in "Very Good" condition is $16,434
NADA Value "Clean Retail" is $19,850

Please email me with any questions or to set up a time to view. Located in Canton, CT 06019

This vehicle is being sold in as-is condition. It is encouraged that you set up a time to view in person before the bidding ends, to inspect for yourself. There is no warantee expressed or implied. This is a 10+ year old truck so I may have missed some normal wear and tear in its condition. I believe that I have fairly represented this truck to the best of my ability and knowledge.

GM can't keep up with most popular pickup orders

Mon, 30 Sep 2013

With the market for pickup trucks at its best since before the recession, General Motors can't afford any hiccups with the launch of its new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins, but it sounds like the popularity of V8-powered trucks is causing some supply-chain issues. Bloomberg reports that GM is experiencing a shortage of 5.3-liter V8 engines because an unnamed parts supplier has been unable to keep up with demand. This is leading GM to restrict the number of V8 Silverado and Sierra trucks that Chevrolet and GMC dealers are allowed to order.
Although it's unclear how long it will take to resolve the parts shortage, GM doesn't have much time to sort it out, as a new Ford F-150 looms on the horizon. At launch, GM's fullsize trucks were offered only with a base 4.3-liter V6 and the 5.3-liter V8, but a burlier 6.2-liter V8 will be available soon. Interestingly, at least at the moment, GM truck buyers don't seem as willing to downsize to V6 power as buyers of the F-150, which gets some 42-percent of its sales from trucks equipped with its EcoBoost V6 engine (not including the normally aspirated base V6).
Working out the kinks in the Silverado and Sierra's supply chain couldn't be more important to the health of the company. Full-size pickups are a huge profit driver - in 2012, the trucks were said to make up about two-third of GM's total profits.

2017 GMC Acadia loses 700 pounds, gains everywhere else

Tue, Jan 12 2016

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Acadia. The 2017 version of the three-row GMC crossover has all kinds of newness. The 2017 Acadia has lost 700 pounds compared to its predecessor thanks to high-strength steels allowing redesigned parts, and the fact that it overall, the vehicle is actually smaller. Length is reduced by 7.2 inches on a wheelbase diminished by 6.4 inches, it is 3.5 inches narrower and sits 3.9 inches lower. The 2016 Acadia was 4,656 pounds, the 2017 is 3,956 pounds. GMC says it will still swallow people, but not as many: the eight-passenger option didn't make the transition, potential three-row trims permitting five-, six-, and seven-passenger configurations. While you lose space, you gain convenience with a split-folding second row featuring tilt-and-slide for both sections. The third-row seats fold flat into the cargo floor, and if the second row is folded as well, cargo capacity improves over the 2016 Acadia, 79 cubic feet compared to 70 cu-ft. A new 2.5-liter four-cylinder brings a second engine option to the spec sheet, returning an estimated 22 city miles per gallon and 28 highway mpg with the help of stop/start tech on front-wheel-drive trims. The new 3.6-liter V6 gets around 310 horsepower, a power bump of about 19 hp, and an estimated 25 highway mpg in front-wheel-drive guise. Towing capacity for that V6 goes down, though, from 5,200 on the current Acadia to an estimated 4,000 pounds. The optional Tow Vision Trailering system will make that pulling easier. Both engines are hooked to a six-speed automatic. Now we can get to its looks. Trademarks like the square, flared wheel arches, dark D-pillars, and wraparound rear side windows made the transition, everything else is new. While weight has gone down, safety's gone way up with internal changes like the splayed chassis members to confront the small-offset test. New active safety upgrades run from from three kinds of automatic braking systems to surround vision cameras, automatic high beam control, a safety alert seat, and a following distance indicator. Buyers can choose from a front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, or All Terrain model, each with its own electronic drive selector modes. The Normal, Sport, and Trailer/Tow modes are common to the trio. The FWD gets a Snow mode, the AWD adds adaptive 4x4 and Off Road modes; on the AWD, the 2x4 mode disconnects the rear axle from the drivetrain.

GM also sheds parts from its pickups to boost payload ratings

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

The row between Ford and Ram over who boasts the best-in-class tow rating for heavy duty pickups has revealed a number of things. Chief among them is a report that Ford removes items like the spare tire, jack, radio and center console from its vehicles in a bid to lower its base curb weight and therefore keep the truck's gross vehicle weight rating down.
For those that need a refresher, GVWR is the vehicle's curb weight plus its maximum payload. A lower GVWR allows Ford to station its F-450 among the so-called Class III pickups, despite the fact that internally, it has the makings of a more brutish Class IV truck.
Ford explains away these deletions, saying a customer could order their vehicle in such a manner. It has also come to light that Ford is not the only automaker to engage in such practices.
