I bought this truck a few months ago when it was stock with only 15.8k miles. Since then I personally did every modification myself so I am very familiar with all of them. There are literally NO flaws anywhere on this truck and it is absolutely show worthy! Listed below is everything I've done since the purchase: - Cognito 4-6" HEAVY DUTY NON torsional drop lift kit (Really nice not seeing the torsion bars hanging down under the chassis, and this lift is very capable of holding up to towing heavy loads such as campers and toy haulers!) - Cognito HEAVY DUTY sway bar kit - Cognito HEAVY DUTY front driveline (I chose this so the truck could be driven at highway speeds in 4wd if needed, such as in snow) - Cognito upper control arm kit w/ dual shock mounts (much heavier than OEM and ball joint is relocated slightly outward to compensate for the lift and ensure trouble-free alignment) - Bilstein Shocks - HEAVY DUTY idler pivot assembly w/ weld in gusset (In my opinion this should be done on all HD trucks, stock or lifted!!) - Allison trans bracket (for clearance of the HD driveline) - 1" rear block & u-bolt kit - 295 70r18 (34") Nitto Trail Grapplers - XD 797 Spy Wheels - Westin Sportsman Grille Guard - KC HiLites mounted on grille guard - EFI Live w/ custom tunes by PPEI - DSP 5 switch (5 hp levels you can choose from while on-the-go) - EGR disable - AFE Cold Air Intake - Turbo back 4" exhaust w/ DPF delete and hi-flow muffler - Transgo jr shift improver kit - PPE deep sump Trans pan - Amsoil Synthetic Torque Drive ATF - AMP PowerSteps w/ perimeter lighting - Weatherguard low profile aluminum tool box - Spray in bed liner - HID head lights - HID fog lights - Tinted windows - Lund vent shades I'm sure I'm missing something but you get the idea. This truck was lifted the RIGHT way with everything you need to not only make the truck look really nice, but to also keep it completely functional without worrying about something breaking while USING the truck. There is nothing wrong with this truck! I'm selling it simply because I've found another interest that I want to pursue. I've only had the truck on level 5 twice, just to see what it would do. Turn off the traction control and it will melt the tires thru 2nd and into 3rd gear. Period! What little time I've driven the truck it has been kept in level 2 or 3, mainly for fuel mileage. Truck is stored in a climate controlled shop and not driven in the rain, and it appears to have been kept that way since new....no water spots or acid rain on the paint or windows. No road grime or mud stains ANYWHERE on the underbody. It's as clean as a whistle from top to bottom. If you have any questions please feel to call me @ 803.242.4044. GM cutting back on powertrain warranty citing lack of interest
Thu, Mar 12 2015Generally, when a manufacturer offers a long, high-mileage warranty, it's a sign that it stands behind its products. On top of that, it's generally a selling point for consumers, who can rest easy knowing that any catastrophic failures will be picked up by the manufacturer. Considering those facts, it does seem rather strange that General Motors is slashing the mileage warranty on model year 2016 vehicles from Chevrolet and GMC. Instead of offering consumers a 100,000-mile warranty, GM will now only offer a powertrain warranty up to 60,000 miles. The five-year warranty period, though, remains unchanged. GM will also cut the number of free services being offered to Chevy and GMC owners, as well as Buick drivers, from four to two. "Through research, we have determined that when purchasing a new vehicle, included maintenance and warranty rank low on the list of reasons why consumers consider a particular brand over another," explained a memo sent to dealers by Chevrolet VP Brian Sweeney and his GMC counterpart, Duncan Aldred, and obtained by Automotive News. "As a result, we have benchmarked our competitors, reviewed our current offerings and have concluded the following modifications to align closely with our customers' needs and expectations." While the move might seem odd, Sweeney and Aldred are right – according to Automotive News, Ford, Honda and Toyota each offer a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. As for what the money saved by trimming the powertrain warranty will go towards, a GM spokesperson simply told AN that the company will "reinvest the savings we will realize into other retail programs," some of which have been requested by consumers. GM to idle car production at five factories as Americans continue CUV love affair
Mon, Dec 19 2016In case you needed another reminder that Americans have fallen out of love with sedans, General Motors today announced plans to idle five factories in January in a bid to cut its inventory to 70 days. Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly ( Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Chevrolet Volt and Impala) and Fairfax Assembly in Kansas ( Chevy Malibu) will stop production for three weeks. Lansing Grand River ( Cadillac ATS and CTS, and Chevy Camaro) is going down for two weeks, while Lordstown, OH ( Chevy Cruze) and Bowling Green, KY ( Chevy Corvette) will go idle for a week each, Automotive News reports. GM's shutdown reflects a broader problem with the company's supply – at 847,000 vehicles, the company's supply increased unsteadily from a low of 629,000 units in January of 2016. That's more than a 25 percent increase in the past year. Citing information from Autodata, The Detroit News reports that at the end of November, GM had a 168-day supply of LaCrosses, 177 days' worth of Camaro, 170 days of Corvette, 121 days for Cruze, 119 days for ATS, 132 days for CTS, and 110 days of CT6. Meanwhile, inventory of the company's more popular vehicles is actually below the professionally accepted 60- to 70-day supply, The News reports. The Trax, Colorado pickup, and GM's full-size SUVs are sitting below 50 days and experiencing year-over-year sales increases. GM needs a rethink of its inventory levels, which is something that's apparently coming. "We're going to be responsible in managing our inventory levels," GM spokesman Jim Cain told The News. Another unnamed spokesman told Automotive News the company's day-to-day supplies would "fluctuate before moderating at year-end." But at least one analyst thinks this won't be the last time Detroit needs to stop production to level things out. "Incentives are elevated, residuals are declining, and rates are rising," Brian Johnson, an analyst with Barclays, told The News. "And while GM in particular may benefit in the months ahead from new product launches, it's important to recognize that GM's inventory is elevated at the moment, and it wouldn't surprise us if they need to announce another production cut – which could pressure the stock." 2015 GMC Canyon
Wed, 24 Sep 2014As discussed earlier today, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is a new standout in terms of midsize trucks. But the Colorado wasn't the only pickup the General Motors team brought to San Diego for us to sample. Also along for the ride was a pack of GMC Canyons, the slightly more expensive and polished platform-mate to the Chevy.
There's no question that the Canyon and the Colorado are a lot alike under the skin - almost entirely, in fact - so GMC has worked to first create some daylight between the two trucks by way of sheetmetal. This is most obvious from the front view, where the blocky and blingy GMC grille replaces the more subdued tone and shape seen on the Chevy's nose. Projector headlights with LED running lights come as standard, and, again, with the squared-off look that is typical of the brand. 16-inch aluminum wheels come stock on the GMC, too, with the 17-inchers seen on my photo truck offered as standard equipment on the top-trim SLT.
GMC considers the Canyon to be the only premium truck in the segment (which is clearly true), and the team has spent a ton of time and effort to get the interior correct to prove out that point. "Any trim that looks like metal, is metal," I was told at the product briefing, a certain indication that the company is serious about bringing a new class of buyer to a truck segment that it hopes to redefine.
