I am selling my 2006 GMC 2500 HD Crew Cab Turbo Diesel Sport Side/Step Side "Duramax SS".  I purchased this truck new and have the original window sticker and all of the service records for everything that was ever done to it.  It is not a factory Sport Side/Step Side "Duramax SS".  I had the Sport Side/Step Side added when I damaged one side of the original Wide Side bed.  Instead of having it repaired I had the Sport Side/Step Side bed installed.  It may be the only GMC 2500 HD Crew Cab Sport Side/Step Side anywhere in the USA.  I then added the Juice with Attitude Programmer, 20" chrome rims and tires, 5" exhaust, 3" lift kit, Rhino Liner, Top Hat Tri-Fold Bed Cover, step side running boards, fender flares, roof rack, undercoat and rust proof.  These accessories add up to about $4000.

I am the original owner of the truck and I originally purchase the truck to haul my three horse trailer to deliver imported horses from the New York USDA Quarantine to our Indiana Quarantine.  However, I was only able to make about a half dozen trips before the economy crashed.  The importing of horses slowed down so much that there was no more hauling available for me to do.  Therefore, the majority of the miles on the truck are simply from my driving back and forth to work from our country home.  We made several long trips delivering the Friesian horse foals that we raised on our farm to their new owners all over the midwest, all light towing.

Over the course of the time that I have owned the truck I have added all of the after market items that you see listed.  I have included an NADA printout with the current market value of the truck and the value of the added accessories.  The current Clean Retail price with all of the accessories added is $27,150.  The Clean Trade-In price is about $22,875.  I am asking less than the Clean Trade-In price.  I am selling the truck for $19,995.

The truck has never been abused.  I have only used the highest "HOT" setting on the Juice with Attitude about 4 or 5 times.  I tested it for it's 0-60 mph capability after I put the new Nitto Terra Grappler tires on it and it went 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds.   I mainly use the Juice with Attitude for its reading of engine codes.  It reads the engine codes every time you start the truck.  It also allows you to clear the engine codes if they are not critical.

I purchased the Juice with Attitude for the improved gas mileage.  I am getting approximately 15 mpg going to work and back.  I get about 19 to 20 mpg on the highway, depending upon how fast I go.  If I drive the Toll Road at about 70 mph I only get about 18 mpg.  If I drive the state highways at about 55 or 60 mph I can get the 20 mpg.

I installed a new front drivers side bottom leather seat cover because the original leather seat cover had cracked and ripped.  The new cover looks amazing.

As I mentioned above I have all of the repair records and there has never been any major work required to be done to the truck at all.  The truck has never had any major problems at all.  Most of the service calls were simply to replace glow plugs when the Juice with Attitude indicated that they were bad.  The number 5 glow plug broke when it was being removed so the new one was installed outside the engine and is attached to the exhaust shroud where it will not affect anything when it glows.  The truck almost does not need any glow plugs since it takes less than 3 seconds to heat up the glow plugs and start the engine in cold weather.  It almost does not even need to use the glow plugs at all when it is warm outside.   The tires have always been rotated every 7500 miles and I got 65,000 on the last set of Nitto Dune Grapplers.  The current tires, Nitto Terra Grapplers, only have about 5,000 miles on them and look like new.  The oil, oil filter and fuel filter have always been changed when the computer showed that it was needed.   It has had new tie rod ends and idler arms installed.

The truck runs and drives excellently.  This is the most comfortable truck I have ever ridden in and a real pleasure to drive.  Except for the few minor imperfections I have mentioned above the truck is almost perfect.  It is a real eye catcher.  I cannot tell you how many times someone stops me on the street to tell me how "SWEET" this truck is.  You will not see yourself coming and going.  I see hundreds or thousands of wide side 2500 HD Crew Cabs but I have only seen one Sport Side/Step Side 2500 HD Crew Cab.  I cannot even find another one on the internet.  This truck is unique and rare.  It is worth the little extra cost.

The truck is sold as is where is.  Buyer is responsible for shipping.

The truck is being advertised for sale locally also so if it sells locally this listing with e-bay may be ended early.  Don't let it get away.  There is only one like it.

GM program sees dealers taking on way more loaner cars

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. Bring your car into the dealership for service, and you may need a loaner car in exchange. And with so many recalls being carried out, that means a lot of loaners – especially at General Motors dealerships. That could be one of the reasons why GM is massively expanding its loaner fleet program. While many Chevrolet and Buick-GMC dealerships have an on-site rental car location operated by a third party like Enterprise (which may or may not provide a GM vehicle), others manage their own loaner fleets. But while the range of dealerships operating such fleets was once small, reports Automotive News, the number has been growing rapidly: from the locations responsible for only 20 percent of those brands' sales two years ago to about 90 percent today. The impetus for that growth comes down to a massive expansion of GM's Courtesy Transportation Program. The initiative encourages dealers to ramp up their loaner fleet to a maximum size determined by GM, with a mix determined by the dealer itself, so that a showroom in Texas can be bolstered with a fleet of pickup trucks and a dealer in California can employ more Volt and Camaro Convertible loaners. The dealership gets a $500 credit for each vehicle its puts in its fleet, and can use those vehicles as loaners for service customers, as multi-day test drivers or to rent out separately. The vehicles remain in the dealer's fleet for 90 days or 7,500 miles, then they can be sold as used, but with new-car incentives. The dealer gets a fleet of loaners, customers get to use the loaners, try out a new car overnight or buy a barely used car with attractive incentives, and GM gets to clock more sales. But therein lies the kicker: the automaker counts the dispatch of the loaner new vehicle to the dealership as a new-car sale, which could end up distorting its sales figures. Counting loaner vehicles as sold vehicles is something of an industry-standard practice, but given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. One dealership - Paddock Chevrolet in Kenmore, NY, for example - had no loaner fleet two years ago, but now runs a fleet of 50 vehicles. Multiply that by the 4,000 or so dealers GM has across America and you're talking about the potential for hundreds of thousands of these sorts of sales.

2015 GMC Canyon Nightfall Edition rumbles in under the radar

Tue, Jan 13 2015

Buyers enticed by the new 2015 GMC Canyon will want to take a look at the new Nightfall Edition. Unveiled here on the floor of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the Nightfall is based on the mid-level SLE trim level in four-door crew cab bodystyle, but upgrades with a stealthy appearance and bundled extras. It's decked out in Onyx Black paint, for starters, but also has a blacked-out grille and side steps, a spray-in bedliner and 18-inch wheels with darkened inserts, as well as a polished exhaust tip, remote start and automatic climate control fitted as standard. The only choice left up to the buyer of this murdered-out mid-size pickup is whether to get it in 2WD or 4WD. Either way, motivation is provided by the Canyon's 3.6-liter V6 with its 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Pricing has yet to be announced, but considering that the SLE on which it's based starts at $30,980 and that the SLT comes in at $34,345, we'd expect the Nightfall to be positioned in the low 30s, with another few grand for four-wheel drive. Top horsepower-per-dollar cars in 2017

Tue, Feb 17 2015

Bang for the buck. That quasi-scientific statistic is bandied about by motor heads everywhere from classrooms to barrooms, though the truth of the matter is that it's exceedingly complex to measure. A fair performance-per-dollar index would include something like cross-referencing MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) with point-to-point times on a track or driving route, which is obviously hard to do comprehensively. But, for the sheer joy of talking about cars and playing with a big spreadsheet, there's always the horsepower-per-dollar index, which is more straightforward, albeit hilariously flawed. There are vagaries even with this simple formula, of course: MSRP for vehicles can change at a moment's notice, to say nothing of the bottom-line shifting that happens with local deals or showroom negotiation. For this list we're running with the straight MSRP wherever possible, and as recently reported as we can get it. All the vehicles on this list are 2017 models, and all trims are reported where the lowest price and differing power levels intersect. Some choices were made for personal preference and some for sanity, avoiding things like all 48 trim levels of the Ford Transit, all with the same horsepower). If this list were a simple top ten, or even a top fifty, you'd be bored to tears with all the red, white and blue that is represented. Following perfectly with conventional wisdom, American cars really do lead the world where hp/$ is concerned. So, for the sake of variety (and the sheer joy of seeing a minivan 'win' one round of this thing) I've sorted out some top five and bottom five lists for broad power categories. Let's dive in. Less Than 100 Horsepower Okay, okay, this is hardly a category we'll grant you. But we've often tried to click off all the sub-100-hp cars on sale in the US, and making this list gave us an excuse. It also illustrates that none of these smallish vehicles bring cheap horsepower to the table - for that you'll need a motorcycle. The segment-leading Chevy Spark (above) asks just over $139 for each hp, and that Smart Fortwo Electric Drive has hp on sale for about the same price as its very distant family cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (insert your favorite Smart joke here... we know you want to).
