This is a 2001 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 4X4 with an 8.1 litre engine and an allison transmission. It has a working Meyer 7.5 ft classic plow on it with an E60 pump and a newer style handheld touch pad. the truck was used primarily in the winter for my landscaping company to plow the past 5 years. Obviously we upkeep the trucks yearly so it has many newer parts including but not limited to: power steering pump and line, brake line/s, brake pads, universal/s, battery, solenoid, trailer brake computer and wiring. aftermartket sony stereo/cd with remote. The tires are decent and could be used to plow about another season. The truck has obvious dents and dings that come from employees snowplowing with your vehicle and that no one ever knows how they happened. The drivers window finally got bolted up because it need a power window motor regulator like every winter and needs one now again. the truck has a bedliner and an aluminum tool box. The truck runs and drives great with the reliable allison tranny working flawlessly, as they always do. Its quiet and all lights work that i know of. the truck would not go into 4 WD so we took it to a transmission shop before we started plowing this season. They removed the three year old "263" transfer case and disassembled it for inspection. Basically it needs about a complete rebuild or a replacement. It had leaked all the fluid out from a seal somehow and the employee drove it about an hour or so in 4 WD. They gave me repair options that range from 1300-2800. I plow with usually about 5 of these trucks and generally dont let them get more than 10 years old so i told them im not spending the money right now and i went and bought an 06 in new mexico and put a new blizzard on it. This truck will need towed out of the transmission shop, i believe u can hear it run but not drive it. they will give you the transfer case (which is possibly in pieces) to use as a core or to rebuild. This is a respectable shop that has been in business for a long time and knows my trucks well, they can attest to how it drives and that the transmission shifts right and all. you are buying the truck as is, where is, with no warranty implied. Maybe you have a transfer case laying around or know how to rebuild them and can fix it for a lot less yourself or if you arrange to have it fixed where it's at, they can offer a warranty on their work. The blade is currently in my driveway and not with the truck but that can be worked out with whoever buys it as well.

370,000 new Silverado and Sierra pickups recalled over fire risk
Fri, 10 Jan 2014General Motors announced late Friday that it will recall around 370,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra fullsize pickups from the 2014 model year over a possible fire risk. The recall covers select 4.3-liter V6 and 5.3-liter V8 models, which can evidently suffer engine compartment fires due to the overheating of exhaust components. GM notes that the fire issue may be preceded by a check engine light and an "engine power reduced" message on the driver information display.
Thus far, GM is aware of eight fires stemming from this problem (although only three of those incidents affected customer-owned vehicles), and all of the fires were reported in areas with "very cold weather." GM is urging owners to not leave their vehicles unintended while idling. No injuries have resulted from the fires in question.
The Detroit-based automaker has pledged to start mailing out recall letters on January 16. The fix, which involves software reprogramming, is estimated to be a 20-minute repair, and will be made free of charge.
NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022
Thu, Mar 17 2016The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.
GM delays truck plant shift so workers can watch Detroit Lions NFC Championship game
Thu, Jan 25 2024It would be difficult to overstate just how big of a deal it is for the city of Detroit and its residents (and residents of southeast Michigan in general) that the Detroit Lions not only made it convincingly into the NFL playoffs but found significant success in defeating the Los Angeles Rams in the Wildcard round and then the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the following week. But if there's one thing we can point to as an automotive-minded group, it's this: General Motors has delayed the start of the third shift at its Flint Assembly plant so that workers won't have to miss any part of the game. To emphasize the magnitude of this decision, it's important to note that the Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD are built at the plant, and the popularity and, perhaps more importantly, profitability of those heavy duty trucks is so high that it's the only GM plant in Michigan that runs a third shift, as pointed out by the Detroit Free Press. The delay is roughly an hour in total, and workers won't be paid for that missing time. We doubt there will be any complaints. Granted, this isn't the first time GM has delayed starting a late shift due to a big sporting event. In prior years, delays have been recorded for some Super Bowls and for the in-state Michigan vs. Michigan State rivalry game at GM facilities in Lansing, Michigan. Still, GM's statement on why it would hold off production of such a lucrative pair of vehicles explains it better than we can: "We recognize the Detroit Lions playing in the NFC Championship game as a rare, unique opportunity that warrants this temporary schedule adjustment to allow employees to enjoy the game and make it to work on time." It's not GM's only show of Lions pride. Take a close look at the General Motors logo currently being displayed at the Renaissance Center, GM's headquarters in Detroit. General Motors is displaying its Motor City pride with a subtle logo redesign to honor the Detroit Lions as they continues their Super Bowl hunt. Ford has yet to provide a comment, but Stellantis, makers of the Ram truck and Jeep SUVs, has confirmed it will be running normal schedules at all of its facilities. For now, there's only one more question that needs answering: What if the game goes to overtime?
