GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.
Wards names its 2015 10 Best Interiors list
Fri, Apr 17 2015Wards Automotive has named the winners of its 10 Best Interior awards, covering a wide but affordable array of vehicles. Where last year's list contained two six-figure vehicles, including the $372,800 Rolls-Royce Wraith, this year's is, well, a whole lot more reasonable. The publication lists the Mercedes-Benz C400 at $65,000 (which seems off), making it the most expensive vehicle here. That said, we'd argue that the entire C-Class line deserves to make this year's list, owing to its varied and high-quality selection of materials. The other vehicle to break the $60,000 mark, meanwhile, is the $60,675 Ford F-150 King Ranch, which has 327,000 pounds of leather lining its interior. Only one other German car, the BMW i3, and one other pickup truck, the GMC Canyon, managed to make this year's list. The Honda Fit, Jeep Renegade and Mazda6 are very reasonably priced, especially when you compare Wards price with the starting price. GMC goes to the dark side with Terrain and Acadia Black Edition
Fri, Mar 23 2018GMC recognizes how many of its SUVs are customized immediately after purchase. It's not uncommon for a big SUV to be ordered in black, and then to receive a murdered-out look on top of that: black wheels, black tint, black trim. According to GMC, roughly 1 in 5 new SUV buyers gets their new vehicle customized, and to better serve those customers, GMC is now saving them the trouble of doing it aftermarket. As per GMC's statement: "Black Editions answer the specific desire for a blacked-out effect and come direct from the factory ingrained with distinct personality." Both the 2019 GMC Terrain and Acadia will be available in the special "Black Edition" from this summer on. They both feature blacked-out grilles, roof rails, mirror caps and trim. The Terrain's Black Edition, available on SLE and SLT spec, gets 19-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, and the SLT-only Acadia Black Edition gets 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with black accents. Despite the name, the Black Editions are both available in four colors other than just black — even if those are mainly shades of grey with an option for white as well. Related Video:
