1994 Gmc 1500 One Owner Short Wheel Base Half Ton Truck With New Drive Train on 2040-cars
Osceola, Arkansas, United States
Up for auction is a very nice, very well cared for 1994 GMC sierra 1500 half-ton two wheel drive extended cab pick-up truck with several extras. This truck had the entire drive train redone almost exactly 20,000 miles ago and runs like a new truck. The motor was rebuilt to stock specs with the addition of a ZZ4 cam and a whipple supercharger and two custom chips. The transmission was rebuilt and beefed up a little and a 2200 stall was added. The rearend was redone and it has 342 gears. This truck is a work horse and it was done to haul a 27ft bumper pull camping trailer and it has surpassed our expectations(we only pulled our camper to the lake a few times). Even though it was built to haul and NOT to hotrod this truck will surprise you because it is very quick. This truck has averaged 15mpg pulling our camper and it will get 18 to 20 empty and drove right. Everything works on this truck just like it should like the a/c, cruise, radio, pw, pdl, etc. Look at the pics and see for yourself that this is as nice a 1994 model truck as you will find. These year model trucks are getting very hard to find in this condition. The tires have only 2,000 miles on them. You would not be able to build the drivetrain for what I have set the reserve at on this truck, and that is not to mention the extremely nice condition of this truck as a whole. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me personally at 870-622-4591. Thank-You. Once again I would to tell you how nice the body and paint are on this truck. In addition to the body and paint the interior is almost perfect, its actually amazing for a 1994 model vehicle to have interior this nice that is original. Even though this truck is being sold at no reserve, this truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. |

GM able to add diesel to half-ton pickups if market demands it
Wed, 18 Sep 2013A few years ago, the trend in half-ton pickup trucks was ultra-luxurious trims, often with the words "limited" or "platinum" tacked on after the model name. That was well and good, but we like this latest fad a lot more - diesel engines. First, Ram came to bat with a 3.0-liter, V6 turbodiesel for the 1500, then Nissan announced that the next-generation Titan would be getting an eight-cylinder Cummins diesel.
Now, word is coming in from AutoGuide that General Motors can, if it so chooses, drop a diesel engine into its light-duty trucks. The plot thickens, though, as it turns out that said diesel would be the same one Ram is using for its truck. According to AG, that engine comes from VM Motori, which GM owns a sizable chunk of. Therefore, GM can snag the 3.0-liter, V6 diesel for its trucks just as easily, if not more easily, than Ram.
If it's so easy for the Detroit-based manufacturer to access the engines, why not offer the a diesel-powered Sierra and Silverado from the start, then? According to GM spokesman Tom Wilkinson, The General doesn't seem so confident in a diesel pickup outside of its HD offerings. According to Wilkinson, the cost-benefit ratio doesn't line up for customers, thanks to both the impact on the truck's sticker price and the higher price of diesel, in general (the national average for a gallon of diesel is 43 cents more than a gallon of 87-octane unleaded).
GM can't keep up with most popular pickup orders
Mon, 30 Sep 2013With the market for pickup trucks at its best since before the recession, General Motors can't afford any hiccups with the launch of its new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins, but it sounds like the popularity of V8-powered trucks is causing some supply-chain issues. Bloomberg reports that GM is experiencing a shortage of 5.3-liter V8 engines because an unnamed parts supplier has been unable to keep up with demand. This is leading GM to restrict the number of V8 Silverado and Sierra trucks that Chevrolet and GMC dealers are allowed to order.
Although it's unclear how long it will take to resolve the parts shortage, GM doesn't have much time to sort it out, as a new Ford F-150 looms on the horizon. At launch, GM's fullsize trucks were offered only with a base 4.3-liter V6 and the 5.3-liter V8, but a burlier 6.2-liter V8 will be available soon. Interestingly, at least at the moment, GM truck buyers don't seem as willing to downsize to V6 power as buyers of the F-150, which gets some 42-percent of its sales from trucks equipped with its EcoBoost V6 engine (not including the normally aspirated base V6).
Working out the kinks in the Silverado and Sierra's supply chain couldn't be more important to the health of the company. Full-size pickups are a huge profit driver - in 2012, the trucks were said to make up about two-third of GM's total profits.
GM issues stop-delivery for 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon
Fri, 03 Oct 2014General Motors is issuing a stop-delivery order for its latest midsize pickups, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, because the driver's side airbag might not be wired correctly. The total number of vehicles affected is still being determined.
According to the statement from GM, the problem, "affects the vehicles' two-stage airbag system by reversing the deployment sequence and disrupting the deployment timing of the driver airbag stages." That means in an accident the bag may not work correctly.
Most of the affected trucks are still on the assembly line, in transit or unsold at dealers, says GM. Until a way to repair the problem is found, customer deliveries are stopped. However, "a small number" of them are in the possession of buyers. GM is contacting these people by phone and by FedEx letter to have the vehicles returned to dealers. In the meantime, they'll be given a loaner to drive.
