1986 Gmc 1500 - Rust-free, Short Box, Supercharged 400 Small Block on 2040-cars
Saint Louis, Missouri, United States
1986 GMC 1500 short box – Super charged! I’ve owned this truck for about 4 years. The engine had already been swapped to a 400 short block. I have done no work to the bottom end, but have installed all of the goodies on top: high pressure fuel pump and regulator, custom high pressure carburetor by Quick Fuel Technology – Super Street Series, XDI electronic ignition, and Vortech super charger – centrifugal style. It’s currently running six pounds of boost. The system is upgradeable to 17 pounds of boost. I have the rev limiter set at 5000 rpm – because no work has been done on the bottom end.
Additionally, the front suspension has been replaced and limited slip installed in the rear. The paint has recently been cut and buffed to bring out the shine of the original paint. Alpine stereo with equalizer and subwoofer is installed. Everything else is original. This is an Oregon truck so there is no rust!
She runs beautifully! Start-up could be helped with an automatic choke and a shift kit installed. Dyno-tune would be nice, too. I had a tire slashed and haven’t replaced it yet. You can see in the pictures two mag rims on the truck and two off as well as two original rims on the truck and two off without tires mounted. The truck has a cover.
The only mechanical problem I know of is a slow electrical drain on the battery. (When it’s sitting I just take one lead off the battery to keep it charged.) Body is original and in great shape – rust free. The grill was replaced with the Chevy bowtie and it is cracked near the left headlight.
Was planning to install a high performance, rebuilt 327 which has Crane cams roller camshaft, Eagle rods and crankshaft, King engine bearings, compression cams roller rockers and timing chain set and cam button, Lunati roller lifters and push rods, Prommax heads, Chevy performance head gaskets, Felpro Permadry oil pan and valve cover gaskets, Felpro timing cover set and rear main seal, ARP head and main studs, Melling high volume oil pump and hardened oil pump drive, sealed power piston rings, DSS Racing forged pistons, and Cat performance products billet steel crankshaft girdle. This is included as is an old B&M roots style super charger. For sale locally, auction may end early.

2017 GMC Acadia adds four-cylinder and All Terrain model
Tue, Jan 12 2016General Motors has officially started the process of updating its long-in-the-tooth fullsize CUVs by unveiling the second-generation GMC Acadia at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. While the Acadia is 700 pounds lighter, it's also shorter and narrower, which means it's not quite the people mover it used to be. You'll no longer be able to haul eight passengers, although there will still be five-, six-, and seven-passenger offerings. While families might not be thrilled with the loss of a seat, the lighter weight is a net win. Not only will the V6 model feel more powerful and efficient – in addition to the lower curb weight, there's a new, 310-horsepower engine – but it will also likely be more economical. GM estimates the front-drive V6 will return 25 miles per gallon on the freeway, compared to 24 mpg for the current front driver, but city fuel economy remains pegged at 17 mpg. In a move we're not entirely sold on, though, the Acadia will also adopt a four-cylinder engine, and no, it's not GM's highly regarded 2.0-liter turbo. Instead, you'll be able to order this 4,000-pound CUV with a 2.5-liter, 194-horsepower four-cylinder. What it won't be able to provide in straight-line speed, it will make up for with fuel economy. GM is wagering the front-drive, four-cylinder Acadia will net 22 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway. Both engines are paired with a HydraMatic 6T75 six-speed automatic. A new All Terrain model is said to be optimized for wet, snowy and icy conditions, and its drive mode selector removes the Off Road selection in favor of All Terrain. We have live images of both the new Acadia Denali, as well as the new-for-2017 All Terrain model, direct from the floor of the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. There's also a video of the full GMC press conference with reactions from our editors. Check them out. GMC Introduces All-New 2017 Acadia * 700-lb. lighter, more efficient crossover aimed at heart of midsize segment * Expanded range of available active safety features, including Front Pedestrian Braking and Surround Vision Camera * New powertrains include a 2.5L I-4, offering a GM-est. 28 mpg hwy, and an available est. 310-hp 3.6L V-6 * Acadia Denali with new, exclusive Continuously Variable Ride Control * New Acadia All Terrain with an advanced AWD system with Active Twin Clutch * On sale this spring DETROIT, Tuesday, Jan.
GM thinks Colorado and Canyon midsize trucks will lure crossover buyers
Tue, 29 Jul 2014The invitation to come out and sample product at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, MI is rarely dull, and after spending this morning driving preproduction versions of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon all we can say is... under strict embargo. Sorry, America, we were as excited as many of you are to learn more about GM's new midsize truck range and take note of how they go down the road, but it's going to be September before we're allowed to share that with all of you. Here's to sweet suspense.
While we might not be able to talk about refinement or handling yet, we did find some of the product positioning and marketing statements from GMC and Chevy officials on hand at the program to be pretty interesting.
Of course, we all know that the literal competitive set for Canyon and Colorado is comprised of two comparatively ancient Japanese midsize trucks: the Toyota Tacoma (which currently owns this segment) and the Nissan Frontier. The Frontier's bones are as old as the 2005 model year, with 2009 marking the last time the truck was updated. The Taco was also launched in 2005, though it did see a freshening for 2012. The point remains that, in every facet from powertrain to dash plastics, the GM midsize truck twins are going to look positively space age by comparison when they hit the market for MY 2015.
GM dealers have ordered 30k Colorado and Canyon pickups, 3rd shift added
Wed, 17 Sep 2014General Motors has an early success on its hands in the form of the initial rollout of the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize pickup trucks. According to the automaker, dealers have ordered nearly 30,000 of the trucks thus far, a number that far exceeded GM's early expectations.
This high demand for the Colorado and Canyon twins has prompted GM to add a third shift to its Wentzville Assembly plant where the trucks are built, starting early next year. An extra shift will add an additional 750 jobs at the location to the 1,315 that were already employed there, according to the press release that you're welcome to read down below.
Such positive sales projections for the Canyon and Colorado may portend good things for the midsize pickup segment, which was once hugely popular but has more recently contracted, with the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma standing firm as the market leaders. Now that GM's entries are the most up-to-date, and with the segment's first diesel engine on the way, it will be interesting to see how the trucks continue to sell and if their hopeful success leads more automakers back onto the playing field.
