Cool old 1965 GMC Suburban Custom 10 (half-ton) Carryall that has spent 31 of the last 33 years sitting in a field in the little farm town of Delta, Utah. It's all original, stock and complete other than the gas tank and radiator fan. The previous owner had it running (he drove it around the neighborhood) from a small fuel tank tucked in the engine compartment. The engine still turns over freely but I haven't tried to get it running.

The VIN is 1001PF10391A. I went online and found a link to a website that decoded it for me. Among other things, the link showed it's a light-duty (6000 pound GVW), short wheelbase (115") version with ambulance doors which is the most desirable body style.

The body is really pretty good. It has typical (but easily fixable) rust in some of the lower portions (see pics). All 4 steel inner fenderwells remain very solid. Marine-grade plywood was used by the factory as flooring in the rear and it's still in great condition. Passenger area floorboards have some small holes but nothing bad. Glass is good other than a two cracks in the windshield and one flat passenger side slider in the rear. Inner latch is broken on right rear door. Red and white paint is original. All hard-to-find trim is still there. Please ask for all my pics; they show everything including the undercarriage.

The running gear is all stock and original. That means a big 305cid GMC V6 running through a four speed manual transmission (GM-420?) to the Dana 60 rear differential (3 lug studs broken on right rear axle). Points, plugs, plug wires and distributor cap are new. Clutch works and transmission shifts easily. Brakes and steering are manual. Brakes don't work but wheel cylinders and master cylinder do not leak. A vintage trailer brake mechanism is visible under the dash and big booster rear leaf springs are visible underneath. It also has a beefy trailer hitch. I think this would be an awesome tow vehicle for a vintage trailer or hot rod. A small-block Chevy engine would be a bolt-in swap if you're so inclined.

The interior is in great, original condition. Dash is excellent with no cutting or butchery of any kind. All buttons, knobs, and switches are still there other than the ignition switch and 3 plastic HVAC lever caps. Even the original AM radio is still there (and it came with a vintage below-dash 8 track deck and speakers that I'll throw in). Headliner is in excellent condition. Windows roll up and down properly. Doors open and close properly as well. Original upholstery is rough in the front but can be used as a pattern. And again, floorboards remain in very decent shape (see pics).

This is such an awesome rig. It's all there and is wonderfully original. I hope she finds a home with someone who will treat her like the rare beast she is and perhaps bring her back to her former glory. Just my two cents.

My name is Chris and I am happy to answer your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. I also have tons of pictures that show every nook and cranny in great detail. Send me your email address and I'll get them to you. This sweet, rare, vintage, half-ton Suburban is located in the dry, desert community of Hurricane, Utah (a little over 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Thank you very much for your interest.

2023 Chicago Auto Show Mega Photo Gallery: See all the new cars from the show

Thu, Feb 16 2023

The 2023 Chicago Auto Show played host to a number of reveals this year, and we were there to capture all of them. In traditional auto show fashion, that means you’re getting a mega gallery of galleries to flip through and see all the vehicles on the show floor. Our EditorsÂ’ Picks from the show are already out — spoiler alert, the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander took home the prize. That said, there were other important reveals like the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport and the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. We also learned some interesting tidbits, such as the fact that VW is considering a pickup, and Jeep owners really are plugging in. To see the photos, scroll on down and start flipping through those galleries.   2024 Toyota Grand Highlander 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander View 7 Photos 2024 Volkswagen Atlas 2024 Volkswagen Atlas View 14 Photos 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport View 7 Photos 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse with its carbon fiber wheels 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse with carbon fiber wheels View 7 Photos 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray View 10 Photos Jeep Wrangler Anniversary Editions Jeep Wrangler Anniversary Editions View 3 Photos 2023 BMW XM 2023 BMW XM View 6 Photos Ram Revolution Concept Ram Revolution Concept View 6 Photos NASCAR Chicago Street Race Pace Car — Toyota Camry NASCAR Chicago Street Race Pace Car ? 2017 GMC Acadia First Drive

Fri, May 13 2016

We're in the midst of the Second Great CUV War, and the crossovers are winning by a lot. Compact sedans are being hauled around the side of idled factories and unceremoniously shot. FCA, whose be-sweatered CEO is either omnipotent or a troll of the highest order, is organizing a last stand around profit-dense SUVs and trucks on the off chance that gas prices don't rise ever again. It's the tall wagon's finest hour, and GMC is hoping the new Acadia will capture a share of the glory. The old Lambda-platform Acadia was introduced in 2007, leading the full-size, three-row crossover charge that spawned a quartet of semi-indistinct variants, including a Saturn. (Remember Saturn?) These four were truck-like in heft and capabilities, but lighter and better-mannered than their body-on-frame counterparts – and with an unusually stout 5,000-pound towing capacity. The Lambda siblings bombarded established beachheads on the sales territories occupied by minivans and truck-based SUVs. Last year, GMC moved nearly 100,000 Acadias in the US, the best year ever for the model. Now GMC shows up with a deflated Acadia for 2017, 7.2 inches shorter overall, 3.5 inches narrower, and with a 6.4-inch-shorter wheelbase. The company has even carved something like 700 pounds out of its previously portly unibody, mostly due to the size reduction but also through an increase in the percentage of high-strength steel and the use of lighter soundproofing materials. GM's C1XX platform was launched with the Cadillac XT5 earlier this year, and this GMC version is the second to appear. There's even an available four-banger, but more on that in a bit. What remains to be seen is whether the downsized Acadia represents a leaner, meaner fighter or if GMC is sending it into battle hamstrung. Outside, the new Acadia is stealthily innocuous. Gone is some of the lozenge-ness of the outgoing Acadia, but don't fret about it standing out from the crowd. The overall styling falls into lockstep with the Sierra and Canyon. The cut of the rear window, with an upsweep at the trailing edge, emulates the brand's mid-sized truck offering. A chrome mustache cuts across the front fascia below the grille, and there's more brightwork around the front side windows and at the crease below the scallop in the doors. The taillights are more contemporary than before, with an attractive elongated C element comprised of LEDs.

2015 GMC Yukon Denali

Tue, 25 Mar 2014

Automotive enthusiasts often wonder aloud - ourselves included - why General Motors would choose to keep GMC while sending Pontiac (and Saturn, and even Oldsmobile before it) into the great automotive graveyard in the sky. The answer, as is so often the case, is profit. It's much easier for GM to rake in money hand over fist by rejiggering the trucks, crossovers and SUVs that it would already be developing for Chevrolet and making them a bit more luxurious and *ahem* "Professional Grade" with new grilles, badges and unique packaging for GMC.
While it may sound like we're being cynical, we totally approve of GM's fullsize SUV strategy. The least-expensive way to get into the fold is with the Chevrolet Tahoe, which starts at $45,595 with a 5.3-liter V8 engine and a cloth interior. Bumping that same Chevy to LTZ trim and its $59,995 sticker price lands a much nicer leather-clad interior and more techno-bells and whistles than you can shake a stick at. But it still looks like a Tahoe, and it still comes with the smaller 5.3-liter engine. Or, you could do what we'd do: Walk into your GMC dealer and take a look at the Yukon Denali. Here's why.
