1990 Gmc / Chevy Suburban 6.2 Diesel 1500 2wd on 2040-cars
Beaumont, Texas, United States
1990 GMC Diesel 6.2 Diesel Suburban In overall good shape. This truck spent most of its life on a ranch in South Texas. I purchased it about a year ago with the intention of making it a cross country family traveling vehicle. ( I grew up with a truck just like this ) Well I have put a whole lot of time and effort in it getting to were it is now. I have since gotten a new job and have been given a new company truck, the suburban has just been sitting. I used it twice in the last six months. Once to move, and once to haul a load of furniture a couple hours away. The truck runs well! This truck starts every time and does not smoke or burn oil. It cranks rights up even after sitting for a month. 1990 and 1991 Diesel suburban's came with over drive transmissions and the new style heads. This truck is not slow, it holds it own getting on the freeway and passing. Its not gonna win a drag race, but it has plenty of power to accelerate. This truck will run all day long at 75 or 80 miles per hour and not miss a beat. 90 and 91, 6.2 diesels have the good hi flow heads. The last picture was taken while driving 75mph....smooth Power windows are slow to go up and down, the power locks work, but need to pushed several times to get them all the way up. The rear door sometimes need to be manually unlocked by reaching in. This truck looks really good in the pictures , but is just average in person. I love it, but my wife not so much. Just please be aware its gonna need some cosmetic with the dash and paint to make a really nice truck. The truck also has the third row seat not pictured. The carpet is all in good shape. the headliner is nice, but starting to sag a tinny bit in the very back of the truck. Millage: I AM NOT SURE OF AUCTUALY MILAGE. speedometer works fine but the miles don't click off. its been this way since I got it. I have put maybe 2000 miles on it in a year. I took on 5 or 6 trips, 2 to 5 hours away. no problems. New Stuff: Engine: pulled from truck and all the freeze plugs replaced, new water pump, valve cover and intake gaskets, glow plugs and starter. Transmission: overhauled with new converter (six month warranty, expired) Radiator, thermostat upper and lower hoses (coolant light on because coolant sensor did not fit new radiator, needs brass adapter) Windshield- new Batteries - 2 new, 9 months old. Tires- 4 brand new (less than 1000 miles) Needs: Brakes-the brakes are weak, but very drivable. I have to add brake fluid after it sits. Shocks- The truck drives like a big boat and could use a set of shocks. A/C - looses charge after about a week, rear blower motor out. Dash is cracked, the tint has gone a little blurry Windows-crack in the long side rear passenger and rear window. Paint- faded with scratches. The headlights point down and need to be adjusted and the drivers door is out of alignment (this how I got the truck not sure why its like this) No spare tire. Overall this truck is good condition, ready to drive home. It needs some cosmetics to make it a great truck. Sold AS/IS Clear title in hand/ In my name. |

2018 GMC Sierra Denali 1500 Drivers' Notes | Chrome cowboy
Wed, Dec 20 2017No matter how much automakers want to charge for trucks, it seems there will be a market. Ford, Ram and GM all have trucks that can push well over $60,000, something that would sound unbelievable even 10 years ago. That brings us to the 2018 GMC Sierra Denali, GM's top dog in the pseudo-lux truck segment. It's packed with tons of goodies and features, but it's starting to feel a little long in the tooth. Still, GM trucks are some of the best selling vehicles in America, so it seems customers don't mind the age. Associate Editor Reese Counts: I've said it before, but I'm not a big truck guy. Give me a Colorado or Tacoma over any of the full-sized behemoths rolling off assembly lines today. Still, I do enjoy taking one home on occasion, especially one as comfortable and well appointed as this Sierra Denali. There's leather and wood and contrasted stitching throughout. The problem is that it's all a veneer over what's becoming an extremely dated truck, though a new one is on the horizon. There's one big thing that truly bothers me about this truck: no keyless entry or ignition. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem doing things the old-fashioned way, but when literally every other competitor at this price has keyless as standard equipment, the fact that GMC (and Chevy for that matter) still require you to pull out a fob and stick a key into an ignition is really glaring. It has to have something to do with the platform, as GM makes plenty of vehicles that don't require a key. One thing that doesn't feel dated is the ride and performance. This truck is equipped with GM's Magnetic Ride Control, and it works wonders for the Sierra's comfort. It would be even better if it wasn't wearing some gaudy 22-inch wheels, but it's still better than a lot of trucks out there. The powertrain, too, is a nice bright spot. The eight-speed automatic is smooth and never feels lost in the hunt for better fuel economy. The 6.2-liter V8 feels strong, and power comes on smooth and easy. Ford's EcoBoosts may win on fuel economy, but there's nothing like a big, burly V8. Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder: Despite the massive amounts of guilt I feel every time I put my foot to the accelerator, big trucks — something of which I used to steer well clear — are beginning to warm up on me. That being said, others have made more of an impression on me than this Sierra.
Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?
Sun, Jul 9 2023The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric. Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands. If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla. Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor. Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have: Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.
