1997 Gmc 3500 4x4 Diesel Dump Truck, Only 75k Miles, Stick Shift on 2040-cars
Patchogue, New York, United States
Cheap work horse...this 1997 GMC Sierra 3500 Dump truck is gonna be a great addition to any company that needs a capable 4x4 to make money for them. ONLY 75k MILES. The 6.5l v8 diesel runs strong and smooth. The 5 speed manual transmission shifts great and the clutch grabs just as it should. Going into 4 high and 4 low there are no issues, engages and disengages just fine. It is a regular cab with the bench seat in the front. The SL package is the standard work truck set up....just the basics for this beast. It does have AC and am/fm cassette radio.
Now for the down side, but for the reasons that this truck can be pretty much stolen, it has some flaws and issues....again motor, transmission, and 4 wheel drive work great, but as you can see from the pics, there are a lot of areas with rot starting to get through. Mostly on the outside of the dump body and then one spot on the front bumper. The undercarriage has clear rust, but no rot through....again it is a 16 year old work truck. PLEASE look at the pics and ask for anymore before bidding so it is clear what you are getting....I have seen many other older dump trucks with the same issues on the dump body's, and still get many more years of use out of them. Interior wise, the bench has some tearing on it and the passenger window is off the track, minor things. The one major concern there is, and why this truck MUST be picked up and not driven, is the brakes...now I drove this truck for a few miles and it feels as if the master cylinder is shot or there may be a leak in one of the lines. I didn't see any brake fluid under the truck, but when you press the pedal its spongy at best and goes to the floor...it is NOT recommended to drive this until that issue is addressed. A non driving issue is the dump body, I don't know if its a fuse, relay, or what ever, but it does not raise. As for the tires, it will need them as well to be in top running shape. Again, this truck will be cheap enough to buy, fix all the issues, and still be a deal and a half to someone....or maybe you have a similar truck and want some parts....either way ask me anything before bidding...Thank you. I have tried to describe this vehicle to the best of my knowledge and ability, so please before bidding make sure you ask anything so if you do end up being the winning bidder and get the vehicle there are no surprises. A $500 deposit is due with in 24 hours of the end of the auction and final payment Arrangements must be made with in 72 hours. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the winning bidder and not included in the vehicle price. I will be glad to assist the winning bidder in making the Arrangements for shipping as I do know of several shipping companies that go all over the United States. Bid with confidence. 2014 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra first pickups to ace updated NHTSA tests [w/video]
Tue, 20 Aug 2013General Motors has just become the first pickup truck manufacturer to receive five-star overall vehicle scores in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's New Car Assessment Program. The updated safety standards, which went into effect in 2011, are more strenuous than the previous NHTSA curriculum and involve collecting both more and more substantial data, reflecting the improved safety inherent in newer vehicles. This feat is made more impressive by the fact that both Ford and Ram have released brand-new trucks since the new testing went into effect - GM's victory is no technicality.
The rating only applies to the redesigned, light-duty Silverado, Sierra and their upmarket variants, High Country and Denali, respectively, while only Crew Cab variants were tested. Considering that the four-door body style will make up 60 percent of GM's light-duty truck sales, the exclusion of the other variants seems reasonable.
This news is sure to be yet another feather in GM's pickup-oriented cap. Be sure to scroll down for video of the crash testing, as well as the full press release from General Motors.
GM already raising prices on 2014 Silverado and Sierra pickups
Mon, 14 Oct 2013General Motors must be pretty pleased with sales of its two newest pickups, the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado, as it's announced price hikes for both models, as part of a planned price tweak.
Prices will be bumped by as much as $1,500, although weirdly, they'll be offset by as much as $1,500 in cash-back offers through the end of October. Fox Business reports that GM spokesman Jim Cain said of the price hike, "With the sell down of the '13 models nearly complete, this price adjustment was planned and is a normal part of business."
The move, as Fox is quick to point out, is an interesting one, as sales of the twin pickups struggled last month relative to the Ford F-Series, while both of GM's crosstown competitors have been aggressively undercutting Silverado and Sierra prices. The F-150 starts at $24,070 and the Ram 1500 comes in at $23,600, not counting any cash on the hood. A base Silverado, meanwhile, retails at $25,575.
J.D. Power customer survey of dealers counts Cadillac, Buick as big winners
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Cadillac and Buick have taken the trophies in J.D. Power's latest Customer Service Index Study examining satisfaction with dealer service. Surveying more than 90,000 owners and lessees of 2009-2013 model-year cars, the study found that those with pre-paid maintenance packages were ten percent more likely to buy their next car from the same brand.
Dealer satisfaction scores have improved overall, Cadillac nabbed the luxury segment ahead of Audi and Lexus, taking the crown that Lexus held last year. Buick keeps the mass-market dealer satisfaction win in the family, finishing ahead of Volkswagen and last year's winner GMC. The study also found that service department use of tablets increased customer satisfaction, as did "best practices" like "providing helpful advice." Who knew?
You can find details on those and more findings in the press release below.
