I am answering them all here for everyone's benefit: Q: Does the truck have good glow plugs? A: The truck had all glow plugs replaced 560 miles ago. At that time all the injectors were also replaced. I elected to buy the complete system maintenance package; all glow plugs, injectors, pump and pressure lines. Q: Does the truck have any known maintenance issues? A: No, it's solid. Recent maintenance was the entire front end was checked, aligned and new tires mounted and balanced. The truck is hard to start on cold(er) mornings where the temp gets into the low 40's and below. It DOES have a block heater installed and it IS operational; which makes cold morning starting easy. Without it plugged in, below 45, she is a hard starting truck. Q: What gears are in the rear differential? A: Gear ratio is 4:56 gears. That translates to a top speed of 65 mph under load. She can pull anything you hook up to her. Q: Is there any white smoke on cold-start? A: Yes, there is a little, typical of a 6.5 TD with 233K miles, but no more than my '01 on cold start. Q: Does the truck use any oil? A: Yes, about 1/4 quart every 500 miles Q: Will you take a cash offer in person? A: Yes, check "Cars and Trucks," Craigslist, Killeen, TX, check search box "entire post," and enter "Welding Rig." You will find my truck for sale locally with many more pictures. Q: Can the truck be ready to sell / picked up immediately? A: Yes. I am a welder. I have all the heavy equipment necessary to remove the equipment off the truck and have it ready for you immediately. I meant what I said when I wrote: "I will pick you up at the airport." I will have, in the truck, 3 quarts of 15-40W oil and it will be full of gas. That will get you to California or New York City. The title is a Texas Title, in my name. You can write in what you want on a Bill of Sale that will be placed in your hand at the airport. I will do whatever I can to make the transition easy for you. My truck deserves a good home. It got me started and it got me a great job. It will do the same for you. |

Son surprises his dad by restoring his 1949 pickup for Christmas
Mon, Jan 5 2015Norman Meal, an 83-year-old retired farmer from Rushville, IN, nearly missed his big Christmas gift when his son, Kyle, first presented it to him. Norman was oblivious and was looking all over the garage floor until Kyle pointed out a satin black pickup with a bow on it parked inside. This wasn't just another case of a child buying a parent a dream vehicle; the '49 GMC sitting there was Norman's very first truck that was restored and ready to drive. According to Fox 59 WXIN, Norman's father purchased the GMC in 1949, and Norman bought it from him in the mid '50s to use on the farm. However, for about the past 13 years, the truck had been rotting away in the garage of one of Kyle's friends. As a perfect gift to his dad, Kyle took the pickup to a restoration shop to make the old vehicle roadworthy again. Practically everything was replaced – except for the horn. Thankfully, Kyle filmed his dad's reaction to getting the GMC. Check it out and watch them take a drive in the heartwarming video above.

GM to build outgoing Silverado and Sierra until late 2019
Tue, Nov 6 2018As it has done with previous generations, General Motors is keeping the outgoing versions of its 1500 pickups in production despite the arrival of the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and 2019 GMC Sierra. The production of the previous, K2 generation models will begin to be wound down gradually, according to Automotive News, starting with crew cabs "early next year," and double and regular cab models following during "the early second half of next year." The old model trucks will continue to be built into "late 2019" based on market demand, GM's spokesperson Kim Carpenter said. The Chevrolet will go by the name Silverado LD, with the GMC Sierra designation still to be announced. Some of the outgoing models are built by sharing the assembly work between two GM plants. Partially finished Silverado and Sierra double cab bodies are shipped from Fort Wayne, Ind., to Oshawa, Ont., where the trucks are completed, including receiving paint. This eases the workload in Fort Wayne, where production of the new T1 generation trucks started in July 2018. In January, the Silao plant in Mexico will take on the duties of building new generation regular cab and crew cab trucks. Carpenter also said that the "Oshawa shuttle," as the shared production is called, has been very successful. As a result, 60,000 more trucks will be built than what the original production forecast initially called for. GM's latest quarterly profits, disclosed last week to be $1 billion, have been far higher than expected and will result in full-year profits far higher than what had been predicted in light of steel tariffs. GM isn't the only truck maker taking a similar multi-generation approach for 2019. Both the outgoing and redesigned Ram 1500 are in production, with the previous generation being dubbed Ram 1500 Classic. Related Video:
