VERY ORIGINAL 1976 GMC Pickup with original WOOD BED

I'm the second owner of this pickup and have owned it since 2005.

Garaged since 1976.

YES, ONLY 85,243 miles!!!!

The previous owner had it rustproofed in the 70's and used it only to tow his pontoon boat.  I've used it to tow our boat, motorcycles and pickup appliances and large items.

Very original.  However, non-original items are: air conditioning converted to R-134, for safety reasons I replaced the original driver side and passenger side lap seatbelts with new shoulder harness type belts, by-passed the original (non-repairable) cruise control with a new cruise control, the radiator is not the original brass unit (replacement is aluminum/plastic), replaced the headliner and reupholstered the seat. I have pictures of the original headliner and seat.

Meticulously maintained.  All regular maintenance up to date with full records since I owned it and some from previous owner.  Maintenance DUE mileages / dates included such as: Engine oil and filter, transmission fluid and filter, differential fluid, coolant, brake fluid, bearings packed, power steering fluid.

If you provide me an e-mail address I can send the maintenance log in Microsoft Word format.

Air conditioning is COLD and heat is HOT.

NO cracks in original dash.

Antenna in windshield.

In the last 20,000 miles the following have been replaced: Radiator, coolant hoses, thermostat, water pump, alternator, air conditioning compressor, air conditioning dryer, all air conditioning O-rings, U-joints, all belts, windshield washer pump, rear leaf springs, all 4 tires (6 years old / 10,000 miles), 6 year battery replaced in 2010, master cylinder, front rotors, front calipers, front brake pads, rear wheel cylinders, rear brake shoes, all brake hoses.

Although she gets looks and compliments everywhere she's a driver not a show truck.  We have used this truck only on fair weather days but we have USED this truck.  Although the paint has been touched up over the years it does have its fair share of nicks and scratches.  The worst scratches are just behind the fuel cap (picture included) and of course in the bed, but there are chips on the door edges, the hood, the tailgate....  There is still rustproofing dripping from the bottom of the doors and in the bed, underneath some of the undercoating is peeling off (see pictures).  I would call her 99% rust free with no rust holes in the body work.  The frame is 100% solid.  The wood bed is 100% solid.

Mechanically this truck is in excellent condition with all maintenance up to date.  You can purchase knowing that nothing needs to be done to have a comfortable, cool, reliable and safe vintage classic truck.

I am selling since my wife purchased a Suburban and I can hardly justify having 2 truck sized vehicles.

Although she's been very reliable and maintenance is up to date (I probably don't need to say this), but NO WARRANTY is included or implied.  Acceptable condition of the truck is ultimately the responsibility of the buyer.....it is, after all a 38 year old vehicle.

A $500 deposit to be made by paypal within 24 hours of the conclusion of the auction.

The balance of the auction in cash to be paid within 7 days.  If paid by cashiers check, check will clear before truck is shipped.

Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.

I do have the truck listed locally and reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells here.

Please feel free to call me with questions,

Traditionally known as the truck show of the annual auto show circuit (at least those covered by national media), Chicago has what seems like a small national park's worth of acreage devoted to both consumer and commercial trucks. From humble extended cab Ford Rangers to a mammoth F-650 with cherry picker sprouting from its aft quarters, there's bound to be a truck for everything. And they all have grilles. So above is our gallery devoted to them, because hell, why not? Should you want to know about the trucks attached to those grilles, check out our coverage below. GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC

Sun, 06 Oct 2013

American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.

GM earnings rise 1% as buyers pay more for popular pickups

Thu, Aug 1 2019

DETROIT — General Motors said Thursday that higher prices for popular pickup trucks and SUVs helped overcome slowing global sales and profit rose by 1% in the second quarter. The Detroit automaker said it made $2.42 billion, or $1.66 per share, from April through June. Adjusting for restructuring costs, GM made $1.64 per share, blowing by analyst estimates of $1.44. Quarterly revenue fell 2% to $36.06 billion, but still beat estimates. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $35.97 billion. Global sales fell 6% to 1.94 million vehicles led by declines in North America and Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. The company says sales in China were weak, and it expects that to continue through the year. In the United States, customers paid an average of $41,461 for a GM vehicle during the quarter, an increase of 2.2%, as buyers went for loaded-out pickups and SUVs, according to the Edmunds.com auto pricing site. The U.S. is GM's most profitable market. Chief Financial Officer Dhivya Suryadevara said she expects the strong pricing to continue, especially as GM rolls out a diesel pickup and new heavy-duty trucks in the second half of the year. "We think the fundamentals do remain strong, especially in the truck market," she said, adding that strength in the overall economy and aging trucks now on the road should help keep the trend going. Light trucks accounted for 83.1% of GM's sales in the quarter, and pickup truck sales rose 8.5% as GM transitioned to new models of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, according to Edmunds, which provides content to The Associated Press. As usual, GM made most of its money in North America, reporting $3 billion in pretax earnings. International operations including China broke even, while the company spent $300 million on its GM Cruise automated vehicle unit. Its financial arm made $500 million in pretax income. Suryadevara said GM saw $700 million in savings during the quarter from restructuring actions announced late last year that included cutting about 8,000 white-collar workers through layoffs, buyouts and early retirements. The company also announced plans to close five North American factories, shedding another 6,000 jobs. About 3,000 factory workers in the U.S. whose jobs were eliminated at four plants will be placed at other factories, but they could have to relocate. GM expects the restructuring to generate $2 billion to $2.5 billion in annual cost savings by the end of this year.
