Gmc Sierra C1500 Silverado Sport Truck Lowered New Motor Harley Trades Welcome on 2040-cars
United States
This is my personal 1994 GMC Step Side. I purchased the truck in Tennessee from the previous owner who got it from his best friend in 2005. Truck is one of the nicest and cleanest that I have ever seen. Runs and drives flawlessly. It is hard to believe how well this truck drives. I have built several of these trucks and tried to buy this one for over 6 months before I was able to convince the previous owner to let go of it. You can tell from some of the photos how clean the underside and engine area of this truck is. I did not spray bomb it, the truck is really this clean.
The crate motor was purchased from Bill Heard Chevrolet in Huntsville Alabama in January of 2006. Was installed by Corvettes Plus in Whitesburg Tennessee when the truck had approximately 119500 miles. I do have receipts and documentation of this. Previous customer drove it for close to 17,000 miles before he sold it to me. I put around 1500 on it before I decided to upgrade the truck. Vehicle has 138,000 miles showing on the odometer. This is correct. I decided to increase some of the performance, but not change the reliability of the vehicle. I researched Harris Performance (you can go to tbichips dot com to find out more info) and really liked what he had to say about building TBI motors. I used his cam, intake, & chip ideas for this build. Installed Edelbrock TBI Intake manifold. Updated Throttle Body. Comp Cams 249 H cam designed for TBI motors. New valve springs. Chrome Headers. New free flowing Y Pipe Exhaust into a Flowmaster muffler with custom drops at the back corners of the bed. Truck has a great sound. Not loud just very deep. No exhaust drone sound at any RPM. Very nice to cruise in. I wanted a little more get up and go so I installed a 4:10 Auburn Posi rear end with upgraded brake drums. I hate a vehicle that only turns one rear wheel. The truck has great cruising ability because of the 700 r4 Overdrive Tranny. If you want to get nasty with it you can. Great runner with good fuel economy. When I did the upgrades I went ahead and put in a new radiator, high flow fuel pump, power steering pump, and anything that could be updated. Front and rear brakes are new and operate great. American Racing 18" wheels in the front and 20" in the rear. Tires have decent tread. Rears are getting a little thin, but not dangerous. Body of the truck is great. There is a small dent in the top of the passenger side bed rail. Looks like an elbow mark. I have a photo of it showing the small imperfection. Very hard to see unless you are looking for it. The bed of the truck is in excellent shape. There are a few rock chips on the front. Overall, the paint is in great shape. Not an all out show truck, but very close. Doors do not sag, bushings have been upgraded so doors close like new. Interior is stock and in great shape. No rips or tears in seat. Carpet has a couple of stains, but very good condition. The fuse door cover is broken. I have it but the tab has broken off like most of these do. I am a Harley Davidson dealer. I would have interest in Harley or other brand motorcycle trades. Please contact me to discuss values. I recently purchased a Jeep SRT8 so I need to make some space in the garage. This GMC truck is a knock out. Gets looks everywhere I go. Hate to get rid of it, but I only have so much space. Please contact me if you have any questions or need anything else. |

Satisfaction with dealer service rises, Lexus and GMC are tops
Thu, 14 Mar 2013During the economic downturn, many car dealerships counteracted their slowing income by focusing on things that would set them apart from competition - things like the quality of customer service they provide. When the economy picked up and more sales and service followed, many also first invested those funds back into the business, improving their dealership facilities and service centers.
It looks like those investments are paying off, as J.D. Power and Associates' latest Customer Service Index Study shows that overall consumer satisfaction with dealer service has increased to 797 (on a 1,000-point scale), up from 787 in 2012 and 29 points higher than the score in 2011. The study also finds that people are more satisfied with the service they get at dealerships compared to independent service providers, despite the much higher average out-of-pocket cost per visit ($118 vs. $44).
Note, however, that this study only looks at how people are treated by a dealer's service department during the first three years of ownership (the survey is based on responses from 91,000 owners and lessees of 2008 to 2012 model year vehicles), so we're talking about the experience had when bringing a car in for repair or maintenance work, most likely under warranty. In fact, maintenance work is increasing in share and accounted for 77 percent of service visits (up from 72 percent in 2012 and 63 percent in 2011). This helps explain why customer satisfaction has also risen, since a properly maintained car is one that's less likely to require a dealer visit for an unexpected repair.
Lincoln, GMC clean up in AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Awards
Tue, 17 Jun 2014In recent years, there have been a lot of dire pronouncements made about Lincoln's future, or a lack thereof. But Ford's premium marque is like the Rocky Balboa of the auto business; every time the company seems ready to go, it comes back for more. Apparently, that dogged persistence is paying off, because the industry analysts at AutoPacific have put a big check in their win column with their newly released 2014 model year vehicle satisfaction survey. And despite recent enmity for its seemingly never-ending recall saga, it appears General Motors knows how to satisfy new owners, too.
In fact, not only was Lincoln named as the premium brand with the highest new owner satisfaction, even scored three models on the list of passenger cars with the most gratified buyers - the MKS, MKZ and MKZ Hybrid.
GM's stable of brands was also among the top companies in this year's survey. GMC was named the top popular brand by AutoPacific, with its Sierra pickup and Acadia crossover singled out for awards in their segments. Chevrolet also did incredibly well, with more cars on the list than any other brand. The Corvette, Camaro, Sonic and Impala all made the cut in their respective categories.
Top horsepower-per-dollar cars in 2017
Tue, Feb 17 2015Bang for the buck. That quasi-scientific statistic is bandied about by motor heads everywhere from classrooms to barrooms, though the truth of the matter is that it's exceedingly complex to measure. A fair performance-per-dollar index would include something like cross-referencing MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) with point-to-point times on a track or driving route, which is obviously hard to do comprehensively. But, for the sheer joy of talking about cars and playing with a big spreadsheet, there's always the horsepower-per-dollar index, which is more straightforward, albeit hilariously flawed. There are vagaries even with this simple formula, of course: MSRP for vehicles can change at a moment's notice, to say nothing of the bottom-line shifting that happens with local deals or showroom negotiation. For this list we're running with the straight MSRP wherever possible, and as recently reported as we can get it. All the vehicles on this list are 2017 models, and all trims are reported where the lowest price and differing power levels intersect. Some choices were made for personal preference and some for sanity, avoiding things like all 48 trim levels of the Ford Transit, all with the same horsepower). If this list were a simple top ten, or even a top fifty, you'd be bored to tears with all the red, white and blue that is represented. Following perfectly with conventional wisdom, American cars really do lead the world where hp/$ is concerned. So, for the sake of variety (and the sheer joy of seeing a minivan 'win' one round of this thing) I've sorted out some top five and bottom five lists for broad power categories. Let's dive in. Less Than 100 Horsepower Okay, okay, this is hardly a category we'll grant you. But we've often tried to click off all the sub-100-hp cars on sale in the US, and making this list gave us an excuse. It also illustrates that none of these smallish vehicles bring cheap horsepower to the table - for that you'll need a motorcycle. The segment-leading Chevy Spark (above) asks just over $139 for each hp, and that Smart Fortwo Electric Drive has hp on sale for about the same price as its very distant family cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (insert your favorite Smart joke here... we know you want to).
