1998 Gmc Sierra 1500 Extended Cab Z71 *no Reserve* on 2040-cars
Pontotoc, Mississippi, United States
Up for auction at NO RESERVE is this 1998 GMC Sierra 1500 Extended Cab Z71. It is powere by a 5.7L Vortec V8 Endgine mated to an Automatic Transmission. Also featured on this truck is Push Button 4x4.
I purchased this truck from a friend who's father had owned it for the past 10 years. He passed away last year and the truck sat for the past 10 months. Since then, I've replaced the Battery, Idler Arm, & Pittman Arm. Since it had been sitting for a while, the gas in the tank was starting to go bad. I ran all of it out and filled it up with some fresh gas and ran another 3/4 tank through it. The only mechanical problems this truck has are there is a check engine light which says a faulty O2 Sensor and when you first crank it, it has a very slight rough idle until you tap the throttle or drive down the road and it smooths out. Both of these are likely caused from it sitting up and should smooth out by driving it some more. I am a very honest seller, as my feedback shows, so I don't want you to have any "surprises" when you come to pick the truck up. I've waisted many days, miles, and fuel looking at items from dishonest sellers and I will not do someone that way. Keep in mind, this is a 16 year old truck that has over 200k miles on it. It's not perfect but it was owned by an elderly gentleman for a long time and he never abused it. The truck cleans up very well inside and out. The body and interior is a solid 8 out of 10. The only real flaws with the interior is the dash has one crack in the center. This truck had a set of custom seat covers on it for the entire 10 years he owned it so the upholstery looks great! Mechanically, this truck is solid (except for the 2 problems noted above). It fires right up and runs down the highway great. The automatic transmission shifts as it should as well. There isn't any leaks and it doesn't burn/use oil. There's still plenty of life left in it because it was maintained and not abused. Here is a breakdown on the features included with this truck: 1998 GMC Sierra 1500 5.7L Vortec V8 Automatic Transmission Push Button 4wd Power Windows Power Door Locks Power Seat Power Mirrors Overhead Console Keyless Entry COLD A/C Great Heat Cruise Control 3rd Door Towing Package Bedliner Toolbox Bed Rails Vent Visors New Model Aluminum Wheels A/T Tires (Roughly 30% Tread) And Much More Title: I have the title in hand but it does say Rebuilt on it. I don't know why it has that on there but I do know that the gentleman that had it for the past 10 years didn't wreck it. When he purchased the truck, it had a Clear Title. After he registered it, it came back as a Rebuilt Title. I can't see any signs of any sort of frame or body damage. If you would like pictures of a specific area, just ask, I'll be glad to get them for you. NO RESERVE .................BID TO WIN Look at my feedback and bid with confidence. Questions? GM diesel pickups first to undergo extra EPA, CARB testing
Tue, Sep 29 2015The effects of Volkswagen's long-running diesel emissions evasion are starting to spill over to other automakers, but General Motors is taking things in stride. The 2.8-liter, four-cylinder Duramax in the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon is the first engine to get extra scrutiny by the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board, Automotive News reports. Rather than just the usual in-lab test, it's also being checked on the road. However, the extra evaluation shouldn't have any impact on when the trucks with his mill hit dealers later this fall. "We're in our final stages of the EPA certification, and our launch is on track," Chevy spokesperson Otie McKinley tells Autoblog. The four-cylinder diesel in the trucks makes 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and the automaker is touting low NOx production. In the announcement for the Colorado's specs, the company calls it "the cleanest diesel truck engine ever produced by General Motors." The tech includes exhaust gas recirculation to lower combustion temperatures and improve emissions. There's also a urea tank like on the bigger diesels for full-size trucks, and it gets refilled in time with oil changes. An indication on the instrument panel lets drivers know when that's needed, too. Even with the more demanding testing, the company doesn't seem too worried about the four-cylinder passing. "Part of our development process is on-road and off-road [laboratory] testing," Scott Yackley, Chevy Trucks assistant chief engineer, said to Automotive News. In the wake of the VW scandal, the EPA has pledged more rigorous testing. Before, on-road emissions evaluations were largely limited to heavy-duty vehicles, but the agency has decided to apply the checks more often to other models. There's also now greater cooperation with Canadian authorities.
GM CEO to meet with U.S. lawmakers over job cuts
Fri, Nov 30 2018WASHINGTON — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra plans to visit Capitol Hill next week to discuss the company's plans to halt production at five plants in North America next year and cut up to 15,000 jobs, two congressional aides said on Friday. GM has come under harsh criticism from lawmakers from both major political parties, and from President Donald Trump, since Monday when it announced the biggest restructuring for the U.S. No. 1 carmaker since its bankruptcy a decade ago. Barra is expected to meet with lawmakers from Michigan and Ohio, where GM plans to shutter three plants, as well as senior leaders in Congress. GM did not immediately comment. Barra has been calling lawmakers this week to explain the decision to end production. Trump has threatened to revoke subsidies for GM. The Detroit automaker plans to halt production next year at three assembly plants: the Lordstown small-car factory near Youngstown, Ohio; the Detroit-Hamtramck complex in Detroit; and the Oshawa, Ontario, assembly complex near Toronto. It will also stop building several models now assembled at those plants, including the Chevrolet Cruze, the Chevrolet Volt hybrid, the Cadillac CT6 and the Buick LaCrosse. Additionally, GM plans to shutter the Warren transmission plant outside Detroit and a plant that makes electric motors and drivetrains outside Baltimore, Maryland. The Cruze compact car will be discontinued in the U.S. market in 2019, although GM may continue building it in Mexico for other markets, Barra said. Reporting by David Shepardson. Related Video:
2018 GMC Terrain Drivers' Notes Review | Summon the Druids, it's a better Equinox
Fri, Mar 2 2018We've had plenty of time in the all-new Chevrolet Equinox, testing it with all three of its available turbocharged four-cylinders: the 1.5-liter, the 2.0-liter performance upgrade and the diesel fuel economy upgrade. Finally, however, we get a turn behind the wheel of its brother from a different corporate mother: the 2018 GMC Terrain. This duo is certainly one of the most disparate pairings in GM's long badge-engineering past, with virtually no visual similarities inside and out. They're even less similar than the last Equinox-Terrain, which themselves were a far-cry from the Blazer-Jimmy days. They're largely the same under the skin, however, including their selection of engines. For the 2018 Terrain, we sampled the 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel good for 137 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. It's an unusual powertrain to be sure, as no other compact crossover SUV in this country offers one (though Mazda has been threatening to do so for years now), but boasts an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 28 mpg city, 39 mpg highway and 32 mpg combined with front-wheel drive. It's basically the same with all-wheel drive. The as-tested price of the SLT Diesel was a rather hefty $39,605. It did, however, have most options, including the Infotainment Package II and Driver Alert Package II that together include all the extra entertainment and safety gadgets. Contributing Editor James Riswick: Let's be honest, the main difference between the 2018 GMC Terrain and its Equinox sibling is the way they look. As such, I can definitively say I prefer the Terrain. It's far more cohesive and better proportioned than the rather dumpy Equinox. It also avoids the garish over-adornment of the last Terrain even if the floating roofline D pillar has passed its expiry date. I think the interior looks better too. As for the way it drives, the 2018 Terrain demonstrates great improvements from one generation to the next. The steering in particular is greatly superior in its feel and feedback. Body motions are also kept nicely in check. Is it a Mazda CX-5 or Ford Escape beater? No, but it's far more confidence inspiring now. So that's the good. Now, the extremely bad. This diesel engine vibrates so much I can't imagine anyone taking one for a test drive and choosing it over the 1.5-liter gasoline turbo. You feel it through the wheel, the pedals and the seat of your pants constantly. It's particularly bad when stopped and even present when just cruising on the highway.
