I recently bought this truck at an Estate Sale. It has had a camper on it since the day it was bought new and had the original steel wheels with hubcaps on it when i bought it. Been garage parked since new also. The 1st thing i did was remove the camper and put a brand new set of Cooper Cobra raised letter 235/70/15" tires on it with 15"x8" steel rally's on it. Now for the truck. It is probably one of the slickest, original Square Bodies that i've ever bought. Body is laser straight. Underneath the truck is as nice as the rest of the truck. Has only 83k Miles!! Throttle Body 305 V8 Engine. 700R-4 Overdrive Tranny. Still still has all working smog control on it. Somewhere in it's life the right side fender and door has been repainted, but was done right. Truck Runs,Shifts,& Drives Great!! Ice Cold A/C that blows hard out of each vent. Heater works great. Cruise works. Dual Gas tanks. All guages work. All glass is great. This is a Unmolested RARE FIND. '87 is the year to have!! Truck looks as good in pics,if not better in person. All manuals in glovebox. Still has spare underneath. Has Tilt,Power Steering,Power Brakes,Cassette Player(works great). Dash is Flawless. No cracks. Seat has been re-upholsted from a vinyl to clothe seat. The owner had the same material used on seat put on arm rest and top of door panels. The only thing i know that does not work on this truck is the right side fuel tank. I haven't had time too see what the problem is but it's probably a easy fix. I would personally drive this truck anywhere. But selling AS-IS with No Warranty. I have the truck For Sale locally and if sold locally i will remove it from here. Bid with 100% Confidence. GM also sheds parts from its pickups to boost payload ratings
Thu, 31 Jul 2014The row between Ford and Ram over who boasts the best-in-class tow rating for heavy duty pickups has revealed a number of things. Chief among them is a report that Ford removes items like the spare tire, jack, radio and center console from its vehicles in a bid to lower its base curb weight and therefore keep the truck's gross vehicle weight rating down.
For those that need a refresher, GVWR is the vehicle's curb weight plus its maximum payload. A lower GVWR allows Ford to station its F-450 among the so-called Class III pickups, despite the fact that internally, it has the makings of a more brutish Class IV truck.
Ford explains away these deletions, saying a customer could order their vehicle in such a manner. It has also come to light that Ford is not the only automaker to engage in such practices.
Inevitable GMC Canyon Denali spotted testing
Mon, Feb 16 2015Practically every other model in the GMC lineup already offers a more luxurious Denali option, so why not extend that to the Canyon midsize pickup? It's hardly a surprise to see the brand doing just that, especially since the standard model seems to be proving quite a success. This Canyon was recently spied testing wearing camouflage over its front end. The truck still needs to breathe, though, and the opening in the obfuscation makes it quite easy to spot the Denali's chrome mesh grille, rather than the horizontal slats of the standard model. Also, just peeking out of the bottom part of the masking is the lower air intake, which appears to be completely lined in chrome now. At the sides and rear, the styling is identical to the current look of the pickup, at least for this prototype. While our spies didn't snap any shots of the interior, it seems safe to anticipate the usual Denali upgrades there, including better materials and additional tech features. Of course, expect a bump in price at the same time to pay for the improvements.
GM phasing out light-duty 1500-series vans
Mon, 16 Jun 2014In the market for a fullsize van but don't need a heavy-duty model? You're in the minority, and you're also out of luck. That's because there are barely any more fullsize vans on the market with gross vehicle weight rating of less than 8,500 pounds, the threshold that separates light- and heavy-duty vans.
According to PickupTrucks.com, neither the Ford E-Series, Ram ProMaster, nor Mercedes-Benz Sprinter are available in light-duty versions. Few of the Ford Transit configurations are, either, and now General Motors is discontinuing production of the 1500-series Chevy Express and GMC Savana.
Apparently light-duty versions accounted for just 23 percent of Express sales and only 7 percent of Savanas. Add to that the fact that these 1500 versions were the only ones using the old generation of engines and suspension, and that the Wentzville plant near St. Louis, Missouri, is trying to make room for the next Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups, and the fate of the light-duty GM van was sealed.
