1987 Gmc Jimmy Sierra Classic Sport Utility 2-door 5.0l on 2040-cars
Up for auction is my fuel injected 1987 GMC Jimmy K5. This is a very original southern vehicle, with very little rust. I have owned at least 6 of these k5's and I can tell you it easier to start on one with potential than to buy a cheap rust bucket and fix it. This is a factory equiped fuel injected 305 and a new engine was installed about 10,000 miles ago. It still has the factory auto locking hubs. All the power windows work; however they are a little slow. The dash is perfect with no cracks along with the door panels. The seats are vinyl and the driver seat will need to be recovered, but the other 2 are fine. The air condition works, but may need charge come summer. The last time I ran the ac was september and it worked fine. The paint is a little weak especially on the passenger side, but driver side is fine. My guess is it stayed under a carport and the passenger side was exposed to the elements. A small exhaust leak can be heard when you first crank it up but it goes away after it warms up, so I am assuming it is where the manifold and collector meet. It does not have the typical rust on the quarter panels, fenders or rocker panels. The only spot is under the top on the passenger side, pics will show this. This is my daily driver, so I have tried to keep up with maintenance, but it is 27 years old and things just fail. If you have never owned a older vehilce, replacing parts is just part of owning one. I think it has a valve cover leak, but the engine does not smoke and the fuel injection sure is nice opposed to a carbuerator. This is the only fuel injected one I have owned and it is nice not having to pump the gas to crank it up. The transmisssion is a 700r4 which means it is a overdrive transmission. The vehicle shows 73,000 miles but Im sure it is at least 173,000 so I'm sure the transmission has been replaced at some time. If you are familiar with the 700r4, factory built ones do no last long, so that's why I say it probably has been replaced with 173,000 miles. I put new 33x10.50 BFG Mud Terrains on it in November 2013 so they may have 1500 miles on them. Other new parts are starter, battery, alternator and axle seals. Bumpers are also in good shape and has a receiver hitch. I do not have to sell this vehicle and if it does sell I hope it goes to someone that wants one to restore or keep factory original. This also for sale locally so I may end the auction early. A $500.00 is due at the end of auction. I can be contacted @ 731-780-4298 if you have any questions or need to see anything else.

2018 GMC Sierra Denali 1500 Drivers' Notes | Chrome cowboy
Wed, Dec 20 2017No matter how much automakers want to charge for trucks, it seems there will be a market. Ford, Ram and GM all have trucks that can push well over $60,000, something that would sound unbelievable even 10 years ago. That brings us to the 2018 GMC Sierra Denali, GM's top dog in the pseudo-lux truck segment. It's packed with tons of goodies and features, but it's starting to feel a little long in the tooth. Still, GM trucks are some of the best selling vehicles in America, so it seems customers don't mind the age. Associate Editor Reese Counts: I've said it before, but I'm not a big truck guy. Give me a Colorado or Tacoma over any of the full-sized behemoths rolling off assembly lines today. Still, I do enjoy taking one home on occasion, especially one as comfortable and well appointed as this Sierra Denali. There's leather and wood and contrasted stitching throughout. The problem is that it's all a veneer over what's becoming an extremely dated truck, though a new one is on the horizon. There's one big thing that truly bothers me about this truck: no keyless entry or ignition. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem doing things the old-fashioned way, but when literally every other competitor at this price has keyless as standard equipment, the fact that GMC (and Chevy for that matter) still require you to pull out a fob and stick a key into an ignition is really glaring. It has to have something to do with the platform, as GM makes plenty of vehicles that don't require a key. One thing that doesn't feel dated is the ride and performance. This truck is equipped with GM's Magnetic Ride Control, and it works wonders for the Sierra's comfort. It would be even better if it wasn't wearing some gaudy 22-inch wheels, but it's still better than a lot of trucks out there. The powertrain, too, is a nice bright spot. The eight-speed automatic is smooth and never feels lost in the hunt for better fuel economy. The 6.2-liter V8 feels strong, and power comes on smooth and easy. Ford's EcoBoosts may win on fuel economy, but there's nothing like a big, burly V8. Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder: Despite the massive amounts of guilt I feel every time I put my foot to the accelerator, big trucks — something of which I used to steer well clear — are beginning to warm up on me. That being said, others have made more of an impression on me than this Sierra.
Chevy Trax engineer says GMC version possible
Mon, Dec 8 2014The Buick Encore is doing so well and its platform-mate the Chevrolet Trax has such good reviewer vibes going for it already, that a GMC version hasn't been ruled out. During the recent press launch, Automotive News asked lead engineer Al Manzor if the Trax could wear a GMC-branded suit, to which Manzor replied, "I think that is certainly possible." That's a long way from telling us anything about the probability of a GMC version of the Trax, and a legion of questions would need to be answered before it could happen. How would a GMC version be priced to leave room for the $26,465 GMC Terrain but not eat into sales of the $20,995 Trax or the $24,035 Encore? Or would that matter? Could it primarily be considered to encourage a new faction of The Yukon Set at the compact end, GMC buyers being famously committed to the marque? And of course, would there be a Denali version? It'll probably be a long while before we have any kind of answers, but if you want to see it happen, the door to your campaign of persuasion is at least ajar.
11 vehicles from Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas worth watching
Fri, 26 Sep 2014This weekend will see the world's collector car crowds descend on Las Vegas, NV for one of the biggest shows on Barrett-Jackson's popular auction circuit. There are hundreds of vehicles up for bidding, ranging from a brand-new Lamborghini Aventador to a spattering of Art Deco classics and a huge swath of classic muscle cars.
While it's virtually impossible to assemble an inarguable list of the best cars coming during the three-day, 700-plus vehicle auction, we've sifted through the listings for this year's show - it was a tough assignment, we promise - and assembled a list of what we think will be some of the most interesting lots. We'll admit, it's a bit heavy on American iron, but if you browse BJ's listings, you'll come to a similar conclusion. Still, scroll down for our list of what we think will be the most interesting vehicles at the upcoming auction.
