Stockton, California, United States
1978 GMC Jimmy (Blazer) K1500. (K5) 4x4. Automatic. I just put the rest of the smog equiptment back on and it passed smog on Friday 10/18/2013. I am in no rush to get rid of it. It is a work in progress. I am going to start working on the interior this week and honestly the farther i get the less likely i will be to budge on the price. This thing was a basket case when i got it. It had no motor/tranny, no dash, no seats, no steering column, no top..... So it is a 200% improvement than when i got it. I have put a lot of work into it and it is pertty close to being done. I have a couple boxes of stock parts. It still needs a few things. Cons: Speedo is not working Gas gauge is not working A fender bolt needs attention Interior is pretty bare Pros: Small block 350 w/4 bolt main with all new gaskets from top to bottom. TH 350 Transmission New timing chain Edelbrock Performer intake Lifted Rancho's all the way around Bucket seats w/ rear jump seat (rear seat needs seat-belts) Duel front stabilizers New water pump New aluminum flex fan Smog legal Hedmen headers Duel exhaust w/Flowmaster 35x12.50 x 15" on steel wheels Removable fiberglass top w/sliding windows Body is in pretty damn nice shape for being 34 years old Tilt wheel Power steering Power brakes Power windows GT (Grant) Steering wheel Clean title in hand I am posting it for sale for $4000 OBO. It needs tires and a couple little things so I will work with you on the price. Please be sure to read the ad and look at the pics. Not looking to waste my time or yours. If i do not answer just leave me a voicemail and i will get back to you when i can. Mike (916) 470-0372 |

GM laying off more than 4,000 workers Monday morning
Sat, Feb 2 2019According to reports from Automotive News, The Detroit News, and CNN, General Motors plans to begin laying off more than 4,000 salaried workers starting Monday morning. In a statement to AN, a spokesperson for the automaker said, "We are not confirming timing. Our employees are our priority. We will communicate with them first." We've been expecting layoffs at General Motors since November, 2018. At the time, the Detroit-based automaker announced it would seek to shed 8,100 salaried employees, shut down five assembly plants in North America, and kill off several slow-selling models. One month earlier, GM offered buyout packages to 18,000 workers and said it would seek to cut its global workforce by 25 percent. A spokesperson said at the time the moves were "proactive steps to get ahead of the curve by accelerating our efforts to address overall business performance." The cost-cutting moves are expected to save GM up to $2.5 billion in 2019 and as much as $6 billion by 2020. David Kudla, CEO and chief investment strategist of Mainstay Capital Management, referred to the impending culling as "Black Monday" and told The Detroit News that the layoffs would begin around 7:30 a.m. and continue in waves throughout the coming days and weeks. GM plans to deliver on its fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 earnings report on Wednesday. President Donald Trump plans to deliver the annual State of the Union address a day earlier on Tuesday. We expect to hear plenty more from both sides over the next several days.
GM readying aluminum-body fullsize pickups
Wed, 19 Feb 2014Ford's extensive use of aluminum in its 2015 F-150 is a big deal. A really big deal. Big enough, in fact, that General Motors is reportedly changing its fullsize pickup strategy. According to The Wall Street Journal, The General has locked in partnerships with Alcoa Inc. and Novelis Inc. - companies that will supply aluminum for the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.
"Ford's introduction of the 2015 F-150 pickup truck was a game changer, and it's the first, not the last, conversion of this type," Novelis spokesperson Charles Belbin told the Journal. The switch to aluminum has allowed Ford to shave roughly 700 pounds off its fullsize truck's curb weight. And while official mileage ratings have not been announced, the weight loss should go a long way for improving efficiency, especially when combined other efficiency-minded improvements including better aerodynamics and new, turbocharged V6 engines.
Of course, aluminum-bodied cars are nothing new. But extensive use of aluminum in a major, best-selling product like the Ford F-150 is expected to kick off widespread use of this weight-saving material as availability rises and cost decreases. The WSJ reports that GM had originally explored the idea of moving to aluminum pickups back in 2008, but abandoned the idea due to cost concerns amid economic woes.
Watch the live reveal of the 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra [UPDATE]
Thu, 13 Dec 2012UPDATE: The trucks have been revealed. Click here for all of the official details.
As promised, Chevrolet and GMC are offering a live webcast of the world premiere for the all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500. After being teased with spy shots and blurry images like the one above for ages, now is the time to see the trucks in the metal, for real (well, as 'real' as it gets on a webcast, at any rate).
Shift your eyes down just below to see the reveal as it happens, starting at 9:30 AM EST. We anticipate having loads of images full technical information to share after the webcast, too, so truck aficionados should stay tuned. We'll also be bringing you live images of both trucks too, when we see them on the show floor at next month's Detroit Auto Show.
