Gmc Envoy Slt 2003 Salvage Damaged Repairable Rebuildable Super-funky! on 2040-cars

Feast your eyes and senses on our broke-down 2003 GMC Envoy SLT. I’m going to be blunt about this so that there is no misunderstanding: this vehicle does not run currently. A coolant leak led to a head gasket failure and a dramatic engine stall at the bottom of a giant bridge, and that’s all she wrote.

Beyond the obvious of it not running, the vehicle is in pretty good shape. It has nice leather interiors with heated seat warmers that my wife loves so much that she almost forced me to shell out the cash to get the vehicle fixed. Thankfully, coolant heads prevailed (AUTO HUMOR). Other amenities include: 6-CD changer AM/FM Hi-Fi Stereo with futuristic steering wheel controls; Moon roof – vampire friendly; Third row seats for transporting people you don’t like very much; Cruise control – for cruising – like they did in the ‘50s; Automatic windows and locks – just like every other car manufactured after 1989; Tinted windows, so you can do things you don’t want other people to see you doing, you naughty thing; Recently changed oil; Full tank of gas (wish I’d have seen this coming before I filled it up); Zone specific AC/heating – it’s like a bubble of comfort. And so on and so forth.

So here we are – time to sell the vehicle we’ve come to affectionately refer to as the S.S. Slut.

Here are just a few things you could do with this vehicle, should you choose to buy it:

-Replace the engine and go on a cross-country tour to re-enact Jack Kerouac’s On the Road

-Make it a paper weight for very large reproductions of the U.S. Constitution

-Convince actors Craig Robinson and Rob Corddry to use it as a prop in Hot Tub Time Machine 3:
                 S.S. Slut

-Crush it into a giant cube and stack it in a pile of other giant car-cubes to build a 1/30 scale
model of the Empire State Building

-Strip it down for parts and light it on fire to ward off night-time attacks from the Zed Runners

-Fix it and let your teenager crash it into a pole one week after he gets his license

Whether or not any of these things are possible are totally up to your imagination and/or the laws of physics.

Here’s my deal: I don’t want any hassle selling this thing. I’ve been through enough. Negotiation is hassle and will not be engaged in. We set a modest reserve, but beyond that, the winning bidder gets the prize. Payment can be through cashier's check or straight cash, homey.  Regardless of the tone of this listing, joke bids will be dealt with by honey bee attack and/or negative feedback rating. CAN YOU NOT SEE I’M SERIOUS ABOUT SELLING THIS VEHICLE?! DON’T PLAY WITH MY EMOTIONS!

You will be responsible for moving this (again-NOT FUNCTIONING) vehicle from the streets of South Philly with the clear title in your hand.

Love,

The Captain of the S.S. Slut

Trademark application points to evolution of new Hummer EV logo

Mon, Aug 17 2020

A trademark application has revealed yet another evolution of the logo expected to adorn GMC's new Hummer EV pickup truck, bringing back the big "H" badge utilized on the H2 and H3 model lines of the expanded SUV lineup's heyday.  The image included with the filing depicts a logo that should be familiar to Hummer fans (or really any American who left their house between 2003 and 2010), with "EV" supplanting the old numerical model indicator. The "Hummer" and "EV" typeface appears to be a direct lift from a filing that surfaced back in April.  This should provide some comfort to folks who are fans of the idea of a future-proofed, all-electric pickup, but want something that embodies the charisma and road presence of the models sold in Hummer's now-deceased, not-so-environmentally-spectacular incarnation. While we don't yet know really any details of the new all-electric SUV, we do know it will be sold via GMC dealers, meaning the revived nameplate will not bring the rest of the Hummer brand along with it.  We haven't really seen much of the new truck, save for teasers and hints here and there. Even the "reveal" back in June only gave us a vague, big-picture look at the truck's silhouette, and various companion images and videos have hinted at features such as a removable roof assembly.  The truck’s general shape is off-road oriented with squared-off, sharp lines tracing the entire silhouette. Its big, knobby tires and blocky wheels are clear indicators of what GM was aiming for with this electric pickup. As for the SUV, comparisons to the Ford Bronco four-door will be inevitable. If our eyes are picking up the scale of this photo correctly, though, the Hummer SUV appears to be a slightly larger vehicle than the four-door Bronco is. Although, the wheelbase for the SUV is shorter than that of the Hummer truck. ThatÂ’ll help it off-road. Those small bumpers and short overhangs along with the bumper cutouts should be hugely beneficial to approach and departure angles, as well. GMCÂ’s shots of the Hummer in the studio are equally as revealing. We can see what looks to be an intense front skid plate and two big tow hooks. In addition to the off-road gear, GMC has allowed a look at the frunk. The front “grille” is one piece with the hood of the truck, so the whole assembly pulls up. That makes for what appears to be a very easy-to-load front trunk compared to other EVs that force you to lift items up and over the front of the car.

GM CEO to meet with U.S. lawmakers over job cuts

Fri, Nov 30 2018

WASHINGTON — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra plans to visit Capitol Hill next week to discuss the company's plans to halt production at five plants in North America next year and cut up to 15,000 jobs, two congressional aides said on Friday. GM has come under harsh criticism from lawmakers from both major political parties, and from President Donald Trump, since Monday when it announced the biggest restructuring for the U.S. No. 1 carmaker since its bankruptcy a decade ago. Barra is expected to meet with lawmakers from Michigan and Ohio, where GM plans to shutter three plants, as well as senior leaders in Congress. GM did not immediately comment. Barra has been calling lawmakers this week to explain the decision to end production. Trump has threatened to revoke subsidies for GM. The Detroit automaker plans to halt production next year at three assembly plants: the Lordstown small-car factory near Youngstown, Ohio; the Detroit-Hamtramck complex in Detroit; and the Oshawa, Ontario, assembly complex near Toronto. It will also stop building several models now assembled at those plants, including the Chevrolet Cruze, the Chevrolet Volt hybrid, the Cadillac CT6 and the Buick LaCrosse. Additionally, GM plans to shutter the Warren transmission plant outside Detroit and a plant that makes electric motors and drivetrains outside Baltimore, Maryland. The Cruze compact car will be discontinued in the U.S. market in 2019, although GM may continue building it in Mexico for other markets, Barra said. Reporting by David Shepardson. Related Video:

GM expanding Lansing Lambda CUV plant

Thu, 30 Oct 2014

Considering that crossovers are a rapidly growing portion of the US auto market, it's not surprising to hear that General Motors is preparing to build even more of them. The company is investing $63 million to expand its Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant that builds Lambda platform CUVs like the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave.
According to GM, the expansion will add roughly 263,000 extra square feet of space to the plant. Of that, 181,000 square feet will be for an updated body shop with cutting-edge robots. There will also be 54,000 square feet of additional room in the paint shop and 28,000 square feet of more area for general assembly.
GM isn't saying as much, but there is the possibility that this extra space could allow for additional models produced at the factory. Cadillac reportedly dropped plans to build a three-row SUV on the Lambda platform earlier this year, however, dealers for the luxury brand were recently pitched the possibility of adding large and small CUVs, an ATS convertible or a sedan below the ATS.
