I DROVE IT AROUND HERE FOR YEARS , HOWEVER THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS GONE BAD SO IT WILL NEED THE BRAKES GONE OVER NOW. THE BODY IS STRAIGHT STILL WEARING MOST OF ITS ORIGINAL PAINT, I HAD SPRAYED PRIMER ON THE ROOF AND HOOD YEARS BACK AND NOW IT HAS A HAZE OF SURFACE RUST BUT NOT TERRIBLE. THE FENDERS AND DOORS HAVE VERY LITTLE TO NO RUST THRU SHOWING BUT I AM SURE IT MAY NEED SOMETHING SOMEWHERE. THE INSIDE OF THE DRIVERS DOOR STILL HAS THE VIN STICKER AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF RUST SHOWING ON THE BOTTOM INNER SIDE. THERE IS A VERY SMALL BIT SHOWING ON THE INSIDE OF THE PASS DOOR AS WELL. THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER HAS HAD A SMALL DENT REPAIRED AT SOME POINT YEARS BACK BUT NOT BAD. THE RIGHT REAR QUARTER HAS A SMALL AMOUNT OF RUST AT THE BOTTOM THAT WILL FIX EASY. THE TRUNK FLOOR IS REALLY PRETTY GOOD WITH VERY LITTLE RUST. THE REAR SPLASH PAN IS IN THE TRUNK. THE HOOD HAS LIGHT SURFACE RUST AND A SMALL 1/4 HOLE WHERE IT CONTACTS THE LOWER BRACE. THE GT EMBLEM FOR THE GRILL IS INCLUDED WHICH IS TOUGH TO FIND AND EXPENSIVE. THE GRILL HAS A COUPLE OF CRACKS BUT WILL REPAIR. THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS ARE STRAIGHT AND RECHROMEABLE. THE REAR FLOORS ARE DECENT WITH ONLY MINOR RUST THROUGH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE SHOWING IN THE PICTURES. THE LEFT FRONT FLOOR HAS A SMALL AMOUNT OF RUST THAT WILL FIX. THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR IS BAD AND WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. ORIGINAL FLOORS FROM ANOTHER TORINO COME WITH THE CAR TO FIX IT EASILY AND CORRECTLY. I AM TRYING TO DESCRIBE THE CAR AS WELL AS POSSIBLE SO YOU ARE CLEAR WHAT NEEDS ATTENTION. THE DOOR PANELS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE, THE DASH PAD IS CRACKED WHICH IS TYPICAL, THE SEATS ARE GOOD WITH JUST MINOR TEARS. New car market raining on convertibles' parade
Mon, 08 Jul 2013Whether fitted with soft or hard folding lids, today's droptops are better than ever for year-round motoring. Advancements in power top mechanisms, sealing, aerodynamics, structural rigidity, rollover safety and creature comforts like heated and cooled seats mean that modern convertibles are more versatile and better to drive than ever before. Yet the segment's sales took a dive during the recession and haven't come back, Automotive News reports.
Part of that is because automakers are looking at today's more sensible buyers and simply not developing as many new models, and that lack of fresh iron is curbing sales. AN cites R.L. Polk data which notes that only about one percent of new vehicles registered in the US last year had tops that folded. Back in 2009, it was 1.4 percent, and it was 2 percent in 2006. All-in, some 151,636 convertibles were registered in 2012. That's more units more than were registered in each of the past three years, but the market has also grown as the economy has picked up speed, and as a percentage of new vehicles purchased, convertible sales are lagging.
Thus far in 2013, the Ford Mustang is America's top-selling convertible, with 6,421 units registered through the end of April, followed by its rival, the Chevrolet Camaro, at 4,751 units. The Volkswagen Beetle isn't far behind, with 4,305, but from that point, it's a steep drop off to the fourth-place Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and its 2,380 sales.
Mustang retakes monthly pony car sales crown from Camaro
Wed, Dec 3 2014Going back to their origins in the Swinging '60s, the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro have been fierce rivals for fans' hearts and dollars. Historically, the Ford often led in volume, but Chevy took the muscle car top spot in 2009 upon the Camaro's rebirth. However, with the launch of the latest Blue Oval pony car, the tide is turning back in Ford's favor. November was the first full month of sales for the new 2015 Mustang, and according to TheDetroitBureau.com, the model did spectacularly well. The Blue Oval shifted 8,728 of them, up 62 percent from same month last year, with the automaker proclaiming it the model's best November sales since 2006. Conversely, 4,385 units of the Camaro were delivered, down 13.5 percent year-over-year, meaning its sales were roughly half that of the new-generation Mustang. Ford is understandably happy with the results, and product development director Raj Nair even hinted to TDB that another version of the Mustang might be unveiled at January's North American International Auto Show. Rumor has it that the model will be the even more potent Shelby Mustang GT350R. Despite the Mustang's November success, the Camaro outsells it year to day. So far in 2014, Ford has sold 73,124 Mustangs versus 79,669 examples of the Camaro. With December offering the last chance for an overtake, the Bowtie may yet remain king for this year's sales crown. A new Camaro is peeking over the horizon, as well. It's reportedly moving to the Alpha platform used by the Cadillac ATS, and production could start in late 2015. Prototypes are already testing at the Nurburgring, and camouflaged examples have been spotted weirdly being compared to its '80s forefather.
Next SVT Mustang may axe Shelby name, go naturally aspirated
Mon, 10 Jun 2013Following our first glimpse at the 2015 Ford Mustang out on the road, the fine folks at Road and Track have divulged some details on what the Blue Oval's next pony might have in store. We've already seen that the car will get some very sleek, Evos-inspired design cues, and an independent rear suspension is indeed in store. These new details, however, concern the muscle car's beating heart.
For starters, the base Ford coupe is expected to carry on with V6 power, likely from the same 3.7-liter unit found in today's car. From there, R&T says the next step up will be a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, likely displacing 2.3 liters, putting out as much as 350 horsepower. Of course, a Mustang wouldn't be a Mustang without V8 thrust, and R&T states that the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 will continue on into the 2015 car, making something like 450 horsepower.
But it's at the high end of the Mustang range where things will, reportedly, get very, very interesting. Road & Track claims that the top-shelf 'Stang will likely lose the supercharger from its engine, producing a metric crap-ton of naturally aspirated grunt instead. Additionally, the SVT-fettled Mustang will likely be dropping its Shelby moniker, in favor of "a name you're familiar with," according to the magazine (you know, like, Cobra).
