I love the car but just don't have the time anymore to devote to it.  Car needs to go to a new home where she will be driven and enjoyed.

1971 Ford Torino GT "M" Code 351C 4Vw/C6 Automatic

This is an original Virginia car.  I purchased the car from Carlisle at Ford Nationals two years ago off of a guy that had just bought it himself.  He purchased the car from a woman here in Virginia that inherited the car from her mother.  Her mother was the original owner of the car and it was originally purchased in Virginia.

Original GT "M" code 351C 4v car still has the original motor and original C6 trans.

The paint job on the car was a respray done by the original owner about 8 years ago.  It was a budget respray and is showing typical signs of wear.  If you look closely you can see some alligatoring of the paint on one of the fenders.  It is a good 10 footer driver quality paint job.  All of the chrome has typical pitting and scratches as to be expected and would need to be rechromed to be perfect.  The front right corner of the bumper sits higher than the left, the bumper is not damaged so I believe this is and adjustment issue with the bumper brackets.

Since I've had the car I have done the following:

I changed the interior from the original Ivy Green to black.
Got rid of the original bench seat and installed Procar Elite Lumbar bucket seats and recovered the back seat.
The originial dash pad was cracked so I installed a black cover-lay over it.
Installed new ACC cut pile carpet with Mass Back.
Custom center console with iPod dock (for iPod Classic) with two Autometer gauges (the gauges have not been hooked up yet).
I swapped out the old radio and installed a new Retrosound radio.
I pulled the motor and trans, cleaned and resprayed the engine bay and cleaned up the motor.
Installed a new Edelbrock Performer intake.
Holley Street Avenger 670cfm carb.
New MSD Ready-to-Run distributor.
New MSD wires.
New MSD Coil.
Aluminum valve covers and air cleaner.
Chrome oil pan.
Chrome water pump.
Chrome alternator.
New fuel pump.
Five spoke Ridler 695 wheels (18x8 front and 20x8.5 rear).
New Waldron's 2.5" exhaust system.
New Pypes Performance mufflers.
New power steering control valve.
New power steering pump and hoses.
New power steering ram arm.
New inner and outer tie rods, strut rod bushings and idler arm bushings.

The car originally had manual front drum brakes.  I upgraded the brakes to stock style front power disc with '70 Torino spindles.
New refurbished brake booster.
New master cylinder.
New hard and soft brake lines for the font, and refurbished proportioning valve.

The dome light is out of a 2001 Ford Explorer (This is a simple mod that is a nice restomod touch and provides significantly more light than the stock light)
The steering wheel is an original Ford GT wheel out of a '78 Mustang (these wheels were in Ford cars and trucks from the late 70's through early 80's)
I cut 1/2 coil off of each front coil spring to lower the front end slightly.

New chrome trans pan.
New rear trans seal.
New front and rear u-joints..

I recently installed a new ignition switch and headlight switch, and now it needs a new key lock cylinder ($29 part through Dearborn Classics).  The car starts and runs fine, you just have to be sure to turn the key backward slightly after it starts to disengage the starter motor.

There are some minor dings on certain areas of the car but nothing major, just cosmetic.  I've done my best to identify those in the pictures.

Buyer is responsible for arranging pick up or shipping.  $500 non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours after end of auction.  Cash or certified bank check only.  I have done everything to describe this car accurately.  If you are unsure of anything please contact me to ask any questions.

Ford Mondeo classes up with premium Vignale trim

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

Back in the day, Vignale was a carrozzeria of the highest order, alongside the likes of Pininfarina, Bertone and Zagato. But like Giugiaro-ItalDesign and Ghia, it has since been subsumed into a larger auto group. Ford ended up with it under its umbrella when it took over De Tomaso, and has since used the moniker for a number of concept cars. Now the name is back in the form of a new upscale sub-brand for the European market.
The first new model to receive the Vignale treatment is the Mondeo, which Ford unveiled here at the Frankfurt Motor Show in both sedan and wagon forms. Positioned above the Titanium trim, the Vignale model gets such special touches as chrome trim and a quilted leather interior, Vignale badges replacing any mention of the Mondeo on which it's based. It also gains an ownership experience - including free car washes for life! - to befit the upscale positioning.
Under the bright spotlights above the show floor, the Nocciola metallic brown paint might not be the most photogenic, but will likely give the Vignale edition a more premium look when it hits European dealers and roads in 2015. Whether it'll be worth however much Ford asks for it, however, remains to be seen. Scroll down below for the official press release.

Inside Ford's high-tech climate chamber

Sat, Dec 27 2014

There are two ways an automaker can test its vehicles in extreme climates: it can send said vehicle around the world – from Death Valley to the Arctic Circle – in search of the harshest weather, or it can recreate those conditions in an enclosed environment. We're sure that many automakers undertake some combination of both, but in this latest video clip, Ford shows us around inside it's state-of-the-art climate chamber. At its Driveability Test Facility in Allen Park, MI – inaugurated in 2010 just across the street from the Roush Technology Center – Ford can simulate all sorts of extreme conditions. It can drop the temperature down to -40 degrees Fahrenheit or raise it up to 130, and take it up to a simulated 12,000 feet above sea level or drop it down to 280 feet below. blast it with 150-mile-per-hour winds. It can control the level of humidity, approximate the intensity of the sun and even blast the test vehicle with artificial snow, just like your favorite ski resort. The facility strikes us as an engineering feat as impressive as some of the vehicles it's used to test, but don't take our word for it – scope it out for yourself in this brief two-minute video clip, which even includes some helpful tips for winter driving this holiday season and beyond. Ford trademarking 'Mach 1,' possibly for Mustang

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

A legendary name might be accompanying the redesigned, 2015 Mustang when it finally makes its world debut - Mach 1. Stumbled upon by the team at Ford Authority, the Mach 1 title was found in a trademark filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office, and would revive a name last used on the fourth-generation, 2003 Mustang.
While the the 2003 vintage was well and good, the Mach 1 is really remembered for a three-year run from 1969 to 1971 - it's best to just forget the emissions-choked 1972 to 1978 Mach 1s - when power output ranged from a modest 250 horsepower with the two-barrel, 351-cubic-inch Windsor V8 to "375 hp" (actual output was rumored to be well north of 400 horsepower) with the righteous, 429-cubic-inch Super Cobra Jet V8.
What does the title hold for the sixth-generation Mustang? It's tough to say. The fanatics at Ford Authority seem to think Mach 1 could take the place of the Shelby GT500 at the top of the Mustang hierarchy, which sounds like a valid argument. At the same time, we could see the SVT Cobra moniker returning for the flagship model, and the Mach 1 doing battle with the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (unless the Boss 302 were to return). Confounding things is the historical precedent - the Mach 1 was responsible for the death of the Mustang GT in 1969, so it might make sense as a volume performance model.
