This is a rare chance to own a 1970 Ford Torino. This car has original 67k miles and has been in the same family (until recently) since 1976. It was owned by a gentleman that left it to his grandson after he passed away. Before he died he had told the kid that this used to be a detectives car and it has places on the hood where lights might have been. I don't know for sure but its a good story.
The OD reads just over 67k miles and judging by the condition of the car, interior, trunk and the way she runs and drives I would have to agree not even a lot of wear on the brake pedal. I think that by today's standards this is a low mile car but if you were to buy this one back in the 80's this would have been average miles, Vehicle were just getting to were they would go over a 100k and still be going strong. This one runs strong.
The exterior has been resprayed at one point to a brown metallic from its original gold/tan color, Also some conservative stripes were put on too. All glass is good and the body is very straight and has very little rust if any at all.
The engine is the stock 302ci v8 with a auto trans and it all works as it should.has stock exhaust manifolds but has real dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers that have a nice rumble.
This one comes with several repair manuals for this car as well as other of the time and the original owners manual and warranty tag (protecto plate). It also retains its original blue and yellow California plates.
The Torino was made here in California at the San Jose factory and is pretty much rust free and has always been a California car.
The interior remains stock and in good condition with the exception of a seam splitting on the drivers side bottom of the seat. There is a cd player in the car but no holes were cut in the dash.
This is a great car if your into Torinos and either dont have the funds to get the GT Cobra version or that that one is just to much. Now is your chance to own a classic muscle car Ford Torino.

Ford to revisit CVTs?

Thu, Dec 11 2014

Today, Ford wishes its first experience with non-hybrid continuously variable transmissions was far behind it. The Blue Oval was awash in complaints and a couple of class-action lawsuits over the CVTs used in its 2005-2007 Ford Freestyle, Five Hundred and Mercury Montego models, which were a manufactured in Batavia, Ohio as part of a joint venture with ZF. The company gave up on the CVT after just two years, but with fuel economy standards pressing automakers to conjure new tricks, Ford's global product development head, Raj Nair, is now saying the transmissions might make a return, "particularly in the low torque applications," says Automotive News. An obvious candidate for CVT consideration is the 1.0-liter Fiesta that can presently only be had with a five-speed manual. Beyond that, the company's 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines might fit the bill. Ford hasn't given any indication as to what vehicles it might use to reintroduce the CVT to the US market, or hints about timeline or who would develop it, however. Some CVT trivia: The 1990 Subaru Justy II was the first US passenger car offered with a continuously variable transmission - Subaru called it the ECVT. It handled gearing duties for a 1.2-liter, inline three-cylinder engine that got all of 70 horsepower. A contemporary blurb about the car begins with "Goodness, gracious, great gobs of gimmickry," and goes on to say that "We can't imagine where you would take this car for repairs, but we are certain that the one mechanic in the world who can fix it lives in a very expensive house." The transmission didn't win any fans, but the ECVT and the car have been largely forgotten, while Subaru played the long game and now you'll find its vastly improved Lineartronic CVT on six of the eight models it sells.

Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

George W. Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 fizzles with $300,000 bid at Barrett-Jackson [UPDATE: w/video]

Sun, 20 Jan 2013

Despite some truly impassioned pleading from Jay Leno himself - including calling on Arizona's notoriously Republican-rich voters to beat the $600,000 level set the last time Leno sold a vehicle for this particular charity... in California - bidding for George Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck stalled at $300,000.
All proceeds will be sent to the Fisher House Foundation, so at least it's $300K going to a good cause. Feel free to check out the live image gallery above, which includes shots showing Leno's skills helming the auction, and read through the official auction description below.
*UPDATE: Video of the auction and Leno's prods to the crowd for more money can now be seen below.
