Beautiful, stock, original (other than an older, high-quality respray in 1994), well-maintained, babied, rust-free, great running, low mileage, Southwestern USA based, two-owner (1965-1999,1999-2013) 1965 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop. This one has aged beautifully in our dry climate under the care of two loving and fastidious owners. I am the neighborhood eBay go-to guy and am selling it for a friend. He and his siblings bought it from the original owner in 1999 as a 70th birthday present for their father. They have enjoyed it regularly over the years (mostly local car shows and parades) but now it's time to pass it on to the next steward.

All the details on this particular model can be found below...

And here are the details (in no particular order) on the one I'm selling...

* All original dealer purchase paperwork and Ford Registered Owner ID card from 1965
* Original Owners Manual with buyer and dealer info
* Multiple AZ/UT Registration Cards from the 1960's through 1990's
* Substantial receipt history from the original owner (1960's-1990's)
* Handwritten ledger of repair history by original owner
* Purchase paperwork from the second owner
* Receipt history from second owner (1999-2013)
* Interior-Beige Leather (per original owner notes)
* Exterior-Light Sonora Metallic (per original owner notes)
* Engine-390CID, 4BBL, 300HP, 427TRQ
* Transmission-Cruise-O-Matic
* Differential-Ford 9 inch
* Newer Tires
* New Battery

Exterior (please ask for pics)...

* Very good condition, some paint chipping from use (very minor-and no door dings), all chrome and trim good
* All lights work other than right fender mounted drivers blinker notification light (all blinkers work)
* Sequential rear turn signals work great
* Switch operated electric antenna raises and lowers properly
* Signs of an ancient, minor, fender-bender repaired properly on left rear quarter panel
* Undercarriage excellent, no rust/corrosion ever
* Trunk excellent, all pans/inner fenders/quarter panels rock solid
* Minor dents in one hubcap
* Small bend in front bumper next to license plate

Running Gear...

* Excellent, everything works, no issues
* And that includes steering and brakes
* Drives very tightly, no rattles or shakes

Interior (please ask for pics)...

* Original AM radio works great, volume knob loose
* AC works great
* All gauges work other than AMP gauge (electrical system charges properly)
* Original upholstery on drivers seat base worn (the rest of the interior is excellent and seat covers are included)
* Dash pad and steering wheel have some cracking (the curse of living a life in a dry, desert climate)
* Electric drivers seat adjustment doesn't work
* No missing buttons, knobs, or levers
* Passenger door electric windows/vent are temperamental
* Window washer inoperative (wipers work great)
* Even the cigarette lighter works!

This T-Bird has obviously been well-loved it's entire 48 year life by only two owners. What makes it truly special is it's provenance (verifiable, documented history). You know what you are getting and you know where it has been. Add to that it's excellent, original condition (a car can be restored over and over but it's only original once) and it's a winner... either as a very cool, awesome and practical daily driver or something even more.

My name is Chris and I would be delighted to answer your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. I also have about 200 pictures that show every nook and cranny. Please ask me for them. This beauty is located in the dry, desert community of St.George, Utah (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Also, you may want to consider flying in and driving it home. I would be happy to help facilitate that. Good luck and good bidding.

This one shouldn't need much explanation. We like cars a whole lot, and that includes not just driving them but taking great pictures of them. We've collected our 50 favorite images from this year in the mega-gallery above. It's a mix of old and new, with a healthy dose of vintage and modern race cars mixed in, and not one single shot under the harsh lights of an auto show. So click through and enjoy. 2013 Shelby 1000 unleashes its 1,200 horsepower ahead of NY show reveal

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

True story: Last fall, I had the opportunity to spend a week with Ford's new 2013 Shelby GT500 - the Blue Oval's factory Mustang with 662 horsepower and 631 pound-feet of torque. It's an amazing beast, to be sure. I'm not sure if it was Michigan's damp streets strewn with potholes and wet leaves, but at no point did I ever say to myself, "You know, Ford is on to a really good thing here, but what it really needs is about twice the power." And yet, for people in warmer climes with infrastructure in better nick - or for those whose muscle cars live their lives out on the track, there's apparently sufficient demand to warrant just such a beast.
Quick studies will recall that Shelby American launched its 1000 last year to commemorate its 50th anniversary, but it is returning to the New York Auto Show with a fresh version based on the 2013 GT500 I drove. The 2013 Shelby 1000 whips up 1,200 horsepower on pump gas thanks to beefed-up forced induction, engine internals and cooling. Wisely, it also incorporates an adjustable suspension and big brake package to make sure those ponies have the best chance being safely deployed to the ground.
What price the world's most powerful "production" muscle car? $154,995 for starters - donor GT500 not included. What, no convertible variant?
