As Ford said when they originally sold this car -- it is "Every Inch An Icon"

The 2004 Ford Thunderbird is the "color of the year". The Merlot (maroon) color, with a matching hard top and a Khaki color convertible top is very rare. There were only 3,991 made. The car does not yet have 84,000 miles on it. It has a clean title with no accident history, which can be verified in the Autocheck report provided by eBay.

I am only the second owner of the car. It will come with everything the original owner would have received when he picked it up. This will include the hard top, hard top stand, hard top stand cover, the hard top tool, the convertible boot, a copy of the window sticker (shows the original price of over $42K), the owners manual, both keys and security fobs,and both remote entry fobs,

The car is in EXCELLENT shape. While recognizing it does have over 80K miles on it, few would guess that. I would rate both the interior and exterior a 9 out of 10. The only shortcomings on the car are the convertible top and and driver seat. The convertible top has no rips or tears, but it does show wear. It does not leak. The driver seat shows less wear than you would think for a car with leather and 80K miles, but there are some lines in the driver side bolster where you get in. The steering wheel has an original looking cover which covers the wear on the original leather wrapped steering wheel.

If you have been looking for a Merlot Thunderbird, you will love this car. You are free to inspect it prior to the end the auction. Should you desire, I will arrange to take the car to a Peoria, IL area Ford dealer to have it inspected at your expense prior to the end of the auction as well.

RWD Lincolns are coming, fate depends partly on MKZ success

The product portfolio at Lincoln may seem a bit sparse at the moment, but if a report is to be believed, new products are on the way. TheDetroitBureau.com spoke with sources at Lincoln and Ford, who claimed the American premium brand is working on, perhaps more than one, rear-wheel-drive vehicle.
Lincoln would likely platform-share with the next-generation Ford Mustang to develop those RWD offerings in the early going. Moving forward, the report indicates that Lincoln could take the lead on other rear-drive projects in the future. As the RWD architecture continues to take shape, "most or all" of the front-wheel-drive portfolio will also be offered with all-wheel drive as an option, ala Audi.
But wait, there's more! The report also suggests that a replacement for the full-size MKS is on the way, as well as a new Navigator and a luxury crossover based on the current Ford Escape.

Consumer Reports says Toyota, Ford, Honda and Chevy are big winners in brand perception survey

According to Consumer Reports, the automotive brands that stand out in the minds of car buyers are, in order: Toyota, Ford, Honda and Chevrolet. This news comes after the magazine polled its readers, asking them to take into account vehicle quality, safety, performance, value, fuel economy, design/style, and technology/innovation - which are the factors that car shoppers are most influenced by.
It's important to note that this award is only about perception. In other words, it's perceived quality, not actual quality. "Often, perception can be a trailing indicator, reflecting years of good or bad performance in a category, and it can also be influenced by headlines in the media," said Jeff Bartlett, Consumer Reports deputy automotive editor.
The brand that made the biggest jump in perception amongst Consumer Reports readers is Tesla, which posted an impressive 47-point gain to finish in fifth place. Subaru is also notable for finishing in the top 10, despite being one of the smaller manufacturers doing business in the US. Former Ford president, Jaguar chairman Nick Scheele dead at 70

We have the privilege here at Autoblog of reporting a lot of good news, but it is our duty as well to report the bad news and sad news as well. And this is one of those occasions as the automotive industry mourns the passing of one of its leaders.
Nick Scheele was born in the UK in 1944 and joined the Ford Motor Company upon graduating from the University of Durham in 1966, staying within the Blue Oval's portfolio for the entirety of his career. After moving to North America in 1978, he rose through the ranks to become president of Ford's Mexican operations in 1988. After acquiring Jaguar, Ford appointed Scheele as its chairman.
Scheele subsequently acted as chairman of all of Ford's European operations, making difficult decisions to take the division out of the red and into the black. He briefly headed up Ford's North American division before he was appointed in 2001 as president and chief operating officer of the global automaker, working under CEO Bill Ford following the departure of Jacques Nasser departure and retaining the role until his retirement in 2005.
