For sale is a pristine 1995 Thunderbird (Thunderbird 40th anniversary edition), LX 2-Door Coupe with 3900 original miles. I am selling this vehicle for a friend (he does not have an ebay account). He acquired the vehicle from his father's estate. He would like to keep it but does not have the room. He would like to pass this vehicle on to someone who can care for it the way it deserves.

The car is in near new condition with 3900 original miles - Yes that is correct - Three Thousand Nine Hundred Miles!... See the odometer in the pictures. He has been driving it occasionally so it may have a few more miles on it by auction end. We looked the car over thoroughly and could not find a blemish or a scratch in the paint. We are not collectors but we can tell you it is in very good condition. One thing we want to mention is the alternator has some oxidation (please see the pictures for the details). This is not a mechanical issue, just a cosmetic flaw that needs pointed out. The exterior paint looks like the day it was pulled off of the showroom floor. The seats, dash, carpet, console and entire interior are in amazing condition as well. See the pictures for details. The car has always been stored in a garage so the outside natural elements have been very limited. The car has never been smoked in. No known mechanical issues. The car runs and drives like new. We encourage any serious bidders to come view the vehicle in person. Please contact me via ebay and I will give you his contact information.

This has a clear title in the owners name and will be available at the time of purchase, you will not have to wait for the estate to release anything.

We tried to get as many pictures as week could to represent the car as honestly as possible. I have more pictures available and can get more upon request.

This is a reserve auction. The reserve is set at a fair price. Considering the condition of the car, someone could use it as a daily driver or keep it for shows and Sunday drives. $250 due within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Full payment due within 7 days of auction close.  The vehicle is also for sale locally. We reserve the right to end the auction at any time. This is used vehicle that will be sold in as is condition.

Payment will be expected to be in the form of bank cashiers check or cash in person. Any shipping will be arranged by the buyer.

What next for Alan Mulally?

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

Alan Mulally has emerged as a hero when it comes to American manufacturing. He came to Ford in 2006 after serving as head of Boeing's commercial aircraft division, streamlined operations, sold off the costly elements of its Premier Automotive Group and saved Ford from having to be bailed out by the federal government like its cross-town rivals Chrysler and General Motors did. But as we reported mere days ago, he's widely expected to step down from the chief executive's office at Ford shortly.
So what's next for one of the most successful executives in the business? Hard to say, but don't expect Mulally to disappear into retirement. Though he didn't ultimately take the top job at Microsoft, industry insiders expect to see him in another influential position - likely as a board director or even chairman of another company. (We say "another company" and not Ford because while Bill Ford may have stepped aside as CEO to bring Mulally on board in the first place, we don't see him giving up his chairmanship of the board also.)
Mulally has likely already lined up his next move, and could either announce what that move will be as soon as Ford confirms Mark Fields as his successor, or could wait awhile. Insiders speculate that he could leverage his transportation and aerospace experience into a position at General Electric or a major airline, his manufacturing expertise to benefit a company like Procter & Gamble or his management skills at a consultancy firm.

Ford using robot drivers to test durability [w/video]

Sun, 16 Jun 2013

In testing the durability of its upcoming fullsize Transit vans, Ford has begun using autonomous robotic technology to pilot vehicles through the punishing courses of its Michigan Proving Grounds test facility. The autonomous tech allows Ford to run more durability tests in a single day than it could with human drivers, as well as create even more challenging tests that wouldn't be safe to run with a human behind the wheel.
The technology being used was developed by Utah-based Autonomous Solutions, and isn't quite like the totally autonomous vehicles being developed by companies like Google and Audi for use out in the real world. Rather, Ford's autonomous test vehicles follow a pre-programmed course and their position is tracked via GPS and cameras that are being monitored from a central control room. Though the route is predetermined, the robotic control module operates the steering, acceleration and braking to keep the vehicle on course as it drives over broken concrete, cobblestones, metal grates, rough gravel, mud pits and oversize speed bumps.
Scroll down to watch the robotic drivers in action, though be warned that you're headed for disappointment if you expect to see a Centurion behind the wheel (nerd alert!). The setup looks more like a Mythbusters experiment than a scene from Battlestar Galactica.

Ford recalling nearly 24,000 Focus EV and C-Max models over door chime

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

Ford will be voluntarily recalling 23,830 Focus Electric and C-Max Hybrid and Energi models equipped with push-button ignition, according to The Detroit News. Why? Because the cars don't make a noise when the driver's door is open, and are therefore in violation of federal regulations. It's not as silly as Honda's badging recall that isn't a recall, but it's close.
Actually, that's not exactly fair. The chime is supposed to come on when the driver's door is open, as it reminds drivers not to leave their cars on or leave key fobs in the car, an easy thing to forget when the cars in question make virtually no noise at idle and do not require keys in ignitions.
The recall, which Ford is conducting voluntarily, covers 2012 and 2013 Focus Electric hatchbacks and 2013 C-Max Hybrid and Energi models. The overwhelming majority, around 22,900 units, were sold in the US, while the remaining 900 units are in Canada. How many of each model are covered in the recall is not immediately clear.
