1986 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe - 5 Speed on 2040-cars
Miami, Florida, United States
Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, Bright Canyon Red; 2.3L EFI Turbo I-4 Engine; Handling Suspension; 15x7 Cast Aluminum Wheels, 225 60 Performance tires; 5-speed manual O/D transmission; Traction–Loc axle; Air Conditioning; Lux Interior w/ Artic sports seats; power windows; premium sound system (Window sticker available) Additional Equipment: Global West caster/camber adjusters. Factory-installed mounts are non-adjustable, usually 0°-1° caster, and 0° camber, resulting in “wander” at speed, and “plow” while cornering. The adjusters allow for more positive caster, and negative camber, which greatly improves handling. Fan has manual override switch, to prevent overheating or A/C problem in summer, bumper-to-bumper traffic. Recent Maintenance: Engine rear main oil seal, clutch release bearing, rear transmission seal; cable “dumbbell” clutch linkage connector; timing belt (Gatorback) and tensioner; MSD 8.5 plug wires and boots; all engine and related hoses; reman rack & pinion 1.5 ratio steering; 24FX battery w/960 CA and stainless hold-down (original style battery no longer available); Front wheel bearings and seals Past Maintenance: New A/C compressor, dryer, custom hose with fixed orifice tube; ignition TFI module, stator, and coil; new water pump; both universal joints; rear axles, bearings and seals (vehicle has C-clip axles, which must be replaced with new bearings); brake master cylinder, calipers and rear cylinders, all flexible lines. I am the original owner, and have done all of the maintenance and repair myself, with the exception of the A/C vacuum test and initial charge, and the wheel alignment. Interior: Front seats are like new - have always been covered with terry cloth covers. All upholstery and plastic trim are perfect, with the exception of the plastic door armrest supports, which are broken. I’ve seen the repair done on TV car repair shows - they used fiberglass cloth and resin over a screen form to fix the armrests. Exterior: Never hit; no repairs; no rust; garaged, not left in sun. Buyer responsible for vehicle or shipping. |

Meet Floyd Pullin, 102-year-old honorary president of Ford trucks [w/video]
Wed, 28 Aug 2013When we talk about trucks we often talk about how loyal truck owners are; it's men like Floyd Pullin who provide the proof. The 102-year-old man from Confluence, Pennsylvania has only owned Ford products since the 1920s, and he's done so well by Ford Trucks that the division named him honorary president for a day, not long after he took delivery of his latest ride, a 2013 F-150 STX.
That's the 16th Ford he's owned. If he bought his first when he was 16, he'd have flipped into a new car or truck about every five years. For 86 years. Not a bad run of business for either side.
Ford Trucks made a video to wish Pullin a happy birthday, which was celebrated at his local Ford dealership and was visited by a Pennsylvania state senator. You can watch it below.
Ford profiles surprisingly affluent Focus ST buyers
Fri, 08 Nov 2013It comes as no surprise when Ford says that 32-percent of Focus ST buyers are under 35, but we weren't expecting this: the average annual salary of Focus ST buyers is $127,000. Twenty-two percent of non-ST Focus buyers are under 35, while their average annual salary is $67,000.
We like the Focus ST because it has 252 horsepower, is genuinely fun to drive and offers great value for performance-minded car enthusiasts; facts that are not lost on customers, it seems. Ford says that the Focus ST has the highest percentage of conquest sales for a non-hybrid model it sells, and that the top-four trade-ins are from Honda, Chevrolet, Mazda and Toyota. Demand for the hot Focus is strongest in Los Angeles, Detroit, Houston and Orlando.
"[The Focus ST is] having this kind of halo effect for other vehicles we'd hoped for when we invested in the ST brand," says John Felice, vice president of US marketing, sales and service, because it's helping to boost sales of other Ford vehicles.
Ford Transit Skyliner Concept is a Gulfstream for the road
Sat, 12 Apr 2014If you are afraid to fly or just want to arrive at your ultimate destination in absolute comfort, then the Ford Transit Skyliner concept might be the perfect vehicle for you. Built by Galpin Auto Sports and based on a 2015 Transit, the van is basically a private jet on wheels. It even has a touch of Transformers about it with the ability to switch between four modes by pressing a button in a smartphone app.
Based on the long wheelbase, high-roof model with 487 cubic feet of cargo space and 6 feet, 9.5 inches of interior height, the Skyliner has movable captains chairs that shift around among four modes. In theater mode, the seats turn and recline to face a 52-inch retractable movie screen with 7.2 surround sound. For business, a motorized table unfolds, and the chairs gather around it. There is a mode for tailgating where the door opens four-feet wide, and, when traveling, passengers can recline back with footrests that extend for maximum comfort.
To make the ride even plusher, there is a satellite and media server to meet your entertainment needs, and there is even a built-in bar in the back. If this Ford had a bathroom, you could live in it. Of course, you would need to hire a driver to enjoy all the amenities in the back.
