1986 Ford Thunderbird 5.0 2 Door Elan- This car is in average or better condition for the year and has 79000 original miles on it. The interior is good, just needs cleaned up. The dash is good. The headliner is real good. The car has bucket seats woth no tears and a floor console. The car was painted shortly before I bought it and looks real good . The car has power steering and air conditioning. Car has new battery. This is a 5.0 V-8 engine with automatic transmission that works great. Power windows and door locks. I am the 3rd owner. The first and 2nd owner were a mother and son. I recently had the car tuned up and had the brakes worked on. I also had the valve cover gaskets replaced because they leaking a small amoutn of oil. The undercarriage is in real good shape with no significant rust. The car starts right up, even in cold weather. This car would be an easy restore. Items that car needs addressed are gas gauge doesn't work, the aluminum wheels need cleaned up professionally, and when it was painted some of the molding was not put back on tight as it should be. Also front molding on bumper should be repainted. I was going to restore it myself, but have way to many other car projects at this time. I am trying to make room, so I don't take up so much garage space. Look on Ebay, these cars are very scacre with a V-8 and bucket seat. These cars are definitely collectors items now and you can put on antique tags to get away from high insurance premium. I have antique tags on it and it costs me about $75 a year for full coverage insurance. I have advertised the car in several other venues, and if sold in one of those other sources, have the right to pull the listing at that time.

This is a NO Reserve, No Return, No Money Back, As Is Auction. If you have any questions, you can email me at cgsputtershop@comcast.net You must have a PayPal account to bid on this car and have no more then 2 negative feedback in the last 6 months. I would like to have a $750 deposit within 24 hours by PAYPAL at the end of the sale. The car must be paid for in total within 5 days after the end of the sale by cash or certified check before it can be picked up. Buyer is responsible for the shipping and cost of shipping of the car.  Car has a clear title. I will assist in helping arrange pick up. If you are a PA Buyer there will be 6% sales tax added at time of transfer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is being Re-Listed due to NO PAYMENT OF DEPOSIT FROM BIDDER.

Please Note: This car was SOLD 2 days ago, before this Re-List, but the NO FEEDBACK Buyer  *who was just bidding for fun, did not pay the deposit , his loss and your chance to bid again. In my world, what the last bidder did, not honoring a contract, is called FRAUD. That is the last time I will accept any bids from somebody with less then at least 5 feedbacks, and those 5 feedbacks must be 100%.

Thanks, CGS

These horribly misguided front-drive design studies nearly became the Mustang

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

As we eagerly await the unveiling of the all-new sixth-generation Mustang, Ford has been giving us some great information over the past few months showing what has gone into shaping its venerable pony car. As many changes as the Mustang has gone through in its 50 years, though, it appears the fourth-gen model played a decisive and pivotal role in the car's future.
As is part of Mustang lore, the front-wheel drive Ford Probe was originally developed as a next-generation Mustang in the Eighties before cooler heads prevailed. The Blue Oval has just released a handful of images showing how bad things could have been - including a full-scale clay model of a front-wheel-drive Mustang (shown above). Fortunately, the FWD Mustang plan was scrapped and Ford went to work designing a rear-wheel-drive replacement for the Fox Body Mustang, with three design studies making it far enough to become full-scale models. These include the soft "Bruce Jenner" Mustang, the over-the-top "Rambo" Mustang and the middle-ground "Arnold Schwarzenegger" Mustang, which finally became the basis for the 1994 'Stang.
By early 1991, the design language of the fourth-generation Mustang had been worked out, and the rest, they say, is history. Scroll down for the fascinating press release telling the story of the fourth-gen Mustang, and be sure to check out the gallery of horribly misguided sketches and various design studies that were all on the table in the late 1980s.

Ford dinged by OSHA for asbestos at Buffalo plant

Sat, 20 Jul 2013

Ford has come under fire from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for violations regarding asbestos exposure in a company metal stamping plant in Buffalo, NY. OSHA has cited Ford for eight violations in total, according to an Automotive News report, and faces fines of up to $41,800. 537 workers are employed at the stamping facility.
The violations include a pipefitter at the facility being exposed to asbestos-containing material while working on a steam line, other workers exposed to the material without respiratory protection and work areas that were not designed to limited the number of workers in contact with asbestos. Further, areas in which asbestos was present were not properly restricted, and levels of asbestos in the air were not monitored.
According to an unnamed Ford spokesperson in the AN report, the company feels that the OSHA citation is erroneous saying, "We have fully cooperated with the local OSHA officials and we don't believe the citations are warranted." Ford also maintains that it will work with the authorities to resolve the issue.

2015 Ford F-150 configurator is ready to go to work

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

Ford is inching towards the on-sale date for the eagerly anticipated, aluminum F-150 pickup. While we're preparing to drive the new truck (expect our take on it sooner rather than later), the best-seller has reached another, albeit more minor, milestone as its online configurator has officially been switched on.
We took to Ford's consumer website to mess about with it and see just how ridiculous of a truck we can build. Among the fun things we discovered were these two nuggets - the most expensive truck we could configure was not the top-end Platinum model, but instead the King Ranch, which rang up at $65,955. The other exciting discovery? The new truck would be available in a questionable shade called Blue Jeans (shown above with the optional contrasting Caribou paint). Yep, Blue Jeans.
You can head over to Ford's consumer page and build your very own aluminum F-150 now. Take a look.
