1979 Ford Thunderbird No Reserve As-is Runs And Drive Clear Title Car Is Stock on 2040-cars
Teaneck, New Jersey, United States
Up for auction is a running 1979 Ford Thunderbird sold completely AS-IS. I'm an honest guy so I'll tell you guys exactly what is going on. My feedback is not over 400 and 100% without a reason... I purchased this car from a friend because I thought I was going to restore it and make it nice and shiny..life such has other plans, and just started a new job that will take all of my time. I tried to fit it in with my schedule but working 50+ hours a week and dealing with NJ traffic will leave me no time to work on this..at all.. it was a nice idea, but unfortunately not for me. Now for the details the car is a 302 V8 and runs drives, and shifts. My friend put a brand new battery in it that cost him a hundred bucks just to bring the car to me and is in the car at the present. The tires look decent. The headlights work as do the directional lamps and the light covers go up and down. The inside appears to be green leather and the driver part of the bench is torn. The horn works. The body is surprisingly dent free except the back bumper in which the previous owner backed into something and pushed it in on the driver side (see pictures). The engine runs smooth and starts up every time, and shifts with no loud clunks. The bad is that the odo stopped working around 5000 miles ago. It has 122k miles on the odo at the moment but the real mileage is closer to 127k. Unknown why it stopped working but my friend said one day he noticed it stopped and didn't want to rip open the dash. I don't blame him. Also A/C doesn't work. (Can you really be surprised)..
Now this is ebay and I'm sure some of you are saying I don't believe that but that is what he told me and he is a trust worthy guy. I know that isn't enough to gain anyone's trust so I have decided to just put the auction up with no reserve and just see what it sells for. Other than that it is missing the directional turn signal cover on the front driver side (signal still works), and the dome light inside the car is missing the cover. The ALT light is on the car, but it has always been on according to my friend and didn't affect performance, again if an expert knows what the deal is, bid accordingly. That is all i have looked out so far with the car. This is why it is being sold AS-IS. The car runs drives, and starts up every time. Please listen carefully to this part though. IF YOU REALLY WANT THIS. I MEAN REALLY REALLY REALLY want this, read this carefully and know that I am a busy busy busy man now with my new job. I do not have time to deal with people bailing on this auction. This will most likely sell for very very cheap, so know that this is most likely a PROJECT CAR, even though it runs and drives it is from 1979..KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO. I wish I could have told myself this before buying it. You will have to invest time in this to make it looking like a show car. If you want a good running Ford Thunderbird and have an EYE for RESTORATION projects. This is a good start. There is very slight rust on the car, nothing debilitating. Look at the pictures, do some soul searching, but please..PLEASE PLEASE...do not waste my time. I honestly don't care if it sells for 450 dollars.....at least know what you are getting into.. REMEMBER..AS-IS AS-IS... I REPEAT... AS...IS Payment and Pickup.. A car that will sell this cheap, needs to be picked up, now im sure some t-bird owners out there really need the parts from this vehicle, but shipping this car will probably cost more than the car sells for, so please just pick it up. As far as the payment, I put a 75 dollar paypal deposit, the rest will be paid in cash. I really didn't want to put a paypal deposit but the fact there seems to be TONS of non paying buyers on the ebay motors world, it leaves me no option. A 75 dollar deposit is due in 24 hours of auction close. |

Ford looks to protect logo from Toronto mayor followers
Fri, 15 Nov 2013One is a member of the Detroit Three and the maker of the Mustang, Fusion, Explorer and F-150. The other is an admitted loudmouthed, drunk-driving, crack-smoking mayor in Canada. Unfortunately for one, it shares its name with the other. Yes, Ford Motor Company is going to great lengths to keep its iconic Blue Oval logo from being appropriated by supporters of besieged Toronto mayor Rob Ford.
At a United Way event earlier this week, some of Mayor Ford's fans showed up with shirts that featured the automaker's logo with the words "Ford Nation," on them. Naturally, Mayor Ford signed them. FoMoCo was quick to issue an unhappy statement:
"Ford did not grant permission for use of its logo. We view it as an unauthorized use of our trademark and have asked it to be stopped," spokesperson Jay Cooney said. There was also a statement from Ford of Canada's Twitter account after a user alerted the company:
Mixed sales results, but automaker stocks rise on need for cars in Houston
Fri, Sep 1 2017DETROIT — The Big Three Detroit automakers on Friday reported better-than-expected August sales and issued optimistic outlooks for demand as residents of the Houston area replace flood-damaged cars and trucks after Hurricane Harvey, sending their stocks higher. General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler posted mixed August U.S. sales, with GM up 7.5 percent and Ford and Fiat Chrysler down. Japanese automaker Toyota improved sales by nearly 7 percent, while Honda fell 2.4 percent. Still, analysts focused on the potential for Detroit automakers to cut inventories and stabilize used vehicle prices as residents of Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, are forced to replace tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, of vehicles after the devastation from Hurricane Harvey. Mark LaNeve, Ford's U.S. sales chief, told analysts on Friday that following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 "we saw a very dramatic snapback" in demand. That said, Ford sales fell 2.1 percent in August. It sold 209,897 vehicles in the United States, compared with 214,482 a year earlier. Sales were down 1.9 percent in the Ford division and off 5.8 percent at Lincoln. Demand was down for cars, crossovers and SUVs. It was not clear how many vehicles in the Houston area will be scrapped, LaNeve said, saying he had seen estimates ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 to 1 million. Ford's Houston dealers may have lost fewer than 5,000 vehicles in inventory, he said. Ford is the No. 1 automaker in the Houston market, with 18 percent share, according to IHS Markit. The company plans to ship used vehicles to Houston dealers and has "every indication we would have to add some production" of new vehicles to meet demand, LaNeve said. Investor concerns about inventories of unsold vehicles and falling used car prices have weighed on Detroit automakers' shares most of this year. Now, automakers can anticipate a jolt of demand from a big market that is a stronghold for Detroit brand trucks and SUVs. "It's got to be a positive for the industry," LaNeve said. Investors appeared to agree. GM shares rose as much as 3.3 percent to their highest since early March. Ford increased 2.8 percent at $11.34, and Fiat Chrysler's U.S.-traded shares were up 5.2 percent $15.91, hitting their highest in more than five years. GM reported a 7.5 percent increase in U.S. auto sales in August, helped by robust sales of crossovers across its four brands.
BMW V8-powered Ford Model A is the definition of Hot Rod
Thu, 20 Jun 2013Today, hotrodding has a pretty staid definition. Take one classic American car, add one classic American V8, sprinkle with tire smoke and you pretty much have every hot rod to roll out of a shop in the last 40 years. Mike Borroughs knows it wasn't always this way. Once upon a time, getting your bucket to go faster meant grabbing whatever parts were lazing about the yard, bolting them together with a bit of ingenuity and laughing your way down the quarter mile. It's in that spirit that Burroughs built his 1928 Ford Model A.
Rather than turn to the tired flathead or the common Chevrolet small block, Burroughs plucked a 4.0-liter V8 from a 1995 BMW 7 Series. With 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, the engine has no trouble shuffling the old A around town. He had to build a custom chassis to get everything to cooperate, but the result is a 1,500-pound heathen that looks built to harass dry lake beds. You can check it out in the video below. Be warned, the soundtrack by Hanni el Khatib may not be safe for work - awesomeness of this caliber rarely is.
