FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME ANYTIME WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR PICTURE REQUESTS.

MY NUMBER IS 818-425-2378. THANKS, BIG STEVE.

I recently purchased this car from an inpound yard in Utah. It has a clean title and the tags are good until the end of this month. The body was was very straight with very minor normal wear and tear. I had a good production quality paint job on it and have done nothing else. It starts every time and runs fine. The transmission shifts perfectly with no visible leaks. Could probably use a tune up if you were going to drive it a long distance, but certainly runs fine now.

It does require premium gas with octane booster and lead substitute to run well. I drive it around town here and get thumbs up from everyone who sees it.

Other known problems, minor as they are, are as follws. I do not have a key for the doors. It would appear the ignition switch has been changed, although it looks original. Original radio is in-op, probably a fuse. I am missing the chrome piece that surrounds the front grill. I am desperately searching for it and it will be included if I find one. Anyone out there have one they are willing to sell me? The trunk lock was punched and needs to be opened with a screwdriver. Light damage to the fiberglass behind the finger hole to get to the lock. Fairly simple repair. Absolutely not visibale from the outside unless you open the finger hole access for the trunk lock. Left side reflector below taillights is cracked and taped. However, I do have a good replacement in the trunk as can be seen in the pictures.

Jay Leno's Garage goes eco with Ricardo HyBoost

Mon, 17 Mar 2014

"Now before you turn away, this is not another boring hybrid car thing..." Despite the slightly defensive introduction from Jay, the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage is actually pretty fascinating. The Ricardo HyBoost is a 2009 Ford Focus that has had a 1.1-liter engine swapped in for the stock 2.0-liter four. That might not get you performance enthusiasts out there fired up, until, that is, you hear that the 1.1L is also fed by both a turbocharger and an electrically driven supercharger for an instant-on "torque-fill" effect. Sounds about right, considering that Ricardo engineering is part of the genius behind the McLaren P1.
Perhaps most exciting of all, the Ricardo folks say that the package should run somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,100. A sort of performance-hybrid that makes sense for the frugal driver and the enthusiast one, then. There's a lot more to the HyBoost, all of which can be seen in the video below.

2015 Galpin Ford GTR1

Mon, 25 Aug 2014

Last year in Monterey, we met GTR1 for the first time. Galpin Auto Sports pulled the wraps off its Ford GT-based supercar, powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.4-liter V8 good for a whopping 1,024 horsepower and 739 pound-feet of torque. The thing was totally custom-made and reportedly took some 12,000 man hours to create. And there it sat on the Pebble Beach grass, $1,000,000-plus price tag and all.
This year, the Galpin was back, albeit with one big change. That twin-turbo engine? Gone. In its place, a 5.4-liter V8 with a 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger bolted on, delivering an astonishing 1,058 hp and 992 lb-ft of torque on 110-octane fuel. 0-60? 2.9 seconds. Top speed? Somewhere above 225 miles per hour.
"Some things to keep in mind: no stability control, no traction control," were the only warnings given by Galpin's Brandon Boeckmann before taking me on a quick spin in the supercar. And after having my eyes thrown into the back of my skull a few times, laughing hysterically and trying to regain full use of my hearing after my ear drums being bombarded by the apocalyptic roar behind me, Brandon pulled over and said it was my turn, if I was ready to take the wheel.
