Collegeville, Pennsylvania, United States

Up for auction is a beautiful 1966 Ford Thunderbird Town Landau with the optional, and very rare, Q code 428 V8 with a 4bbl and 7.0L of power.

Just took this car in on a trade from that 1981 Buick Riviera listed about a month or so ago.  Car has come back to PA and recieved a brand new state inspection good thru Sept of 2014.

Fresh PA Title - Antique  Vehicle

Here are a list of items that have recently been done to the car:

Oct '11 -

Plugs, wires, total rebuild of Automatic C6 Transmission ($2000)

Feb '12 -

New Heater Core ($100)

Oct '13 -

Front Strut Rod Bushing Set

Front and Rear Brake Hoses

Rear Wheel Cyliders

Rear Axle Seals

Sundry electrical work to make sure all important functions are working properly, ie horn, reverse, lights, fixed the gauges!

Professional Floor Board Repairs, Torque Box repair

Total: ($2000)

I'm driving the car while the auction is running and it is a blast.  Lots of looks and Thumbs Up.  Questions at the gas station etc.

Big 428 engine runs smooth and the C6 shifts perfectly.  Car is on the same chassis as the Lincoln Continental was so the ride is very luxurious.

Interior is very cool, the theme of an airplane cockpit is very apparent and there are many styling cues that will give you some nostalgia.  I've had a couple friends in the car, and every one of them points out five or six different things that they "have never seen in another car before!"

Power windows work, including the power A frame vent windows!  Steering wheel pushes out of the way so you can easily get in and out of the car!  Remember when you could easily fit into a two door vehicle?

Taillights have the trick sequential feature that flashes the three bulbs in the direction you are turning.  Very Cool.

As nice as the car is, the engine compartment is even better.  Looks like it was freshly detailed.  The real hook is the engine and trans package for this car.  the "Q" in the vin designates the 428cu option for this year, it was less than $100 option and not many people took it.  Hard to believe.  In some other models, this would increase the value 10x, this car is being priced to sell so don't let it get away. Value will keep increasing over the years if you take as good of care as the previous owners have.

Things it needs:

- Headliner is starting to sag, will eventually need replaced

-Power locks don't hookup

-Chip in paint on the front left corner (see Pic)

This is a perfect car to drive, enjoy for as long as you want, and then resell for a profit!  Car is safe, freshly inspected and ready for a new home.  Please feel free to ask any questions.

Check all my other auctions, I have new vehicles coming in all the time.

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.

Ford Police Interceptor with 2.0L EcoBoost rated most fuel-efficient police sedan

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

Back in September, Ford announced a non-pursuit version of its Police Interceptor Sedan, which swaps out a choice of two V6 engines for a fuel-efficient 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder. This Special Service Police Sedan will be marketed to law enforcement agencies looking to cut fuel costs and don't need the extra power.
For college campuses, detectives and the like, this new police car has now been certified with EPA fuel economy estimates of 20 miles per gallon in the city, 32 mpg on the highway and a combined rating of 24 mpg. These figures represent a decrease of two mpg in city and combined ratings compared to the civilian-spec 2014 Taurus. These police cars still offer active grille shutters for better aerodynamics, although we're guessing agencies upfitting their cars with light bars and push bumpers aren't exactly concerted with aerodynamics. The true benefit of the SSP version is when it's compared against other police sedan options like the Dodge Charger, Chevy Impala, Chevy Caprice and even the V6 Police Interceptor Sedan.
Ford claims the new Police Interceptor Sedan SSP is the most fuel-efficient current option for police departments, saying that this car can save $1,720 per car over three years and almost $260,000 over the same span of time for fleets with 150 vehicles. There is an official press release posted below, and also check out the gallery of images from Ford collected from various police agencies across the US (although none show the 2.0-liter SSP model). Head on over to Ford's Police Interceptor mini-site for even more pictures of the Police Interceptor Sedan and Utility.

2015 Ford Mustang already under recall, but just 53 units

Sun, 19 Oct 2014

Ford has issued a small - but significant - recall for one of its spotlight cars: the 2015 Mustang.
The recall affects just 53 cars, with 50 in the United States and three in Canada. Ford said the passenger side safety belt buckle tension sensor may not have been calibrated properly by the supplier. This could lead to "misclassification" of the passenger seat occupant, and could cause the airbag to deploy improperly.
A Ford spokesperson didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. In a statement, the automaker said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries, and dealers will replace the buckle assembly at no cost to customers. The cars affected were built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan from Aug. 18 to Oct. 2.
