what i know about 1966 thunderbirds you could write on a postage stamp. so if you are reading this then i am sure you know way more than me about this kind of antique car.this old girl belongs to one of the guys that works for me and he has no computer so i am listing it on his behalf. so i encourage anyone interested to come see and drive it if at all possible. up for auction is this buck rogersmobile 1966 thunderbird sport coupe needing a little TLC. there is a clear south carolina title for the car. she has a great big REBUILT 390 ci V8 in her which starts up very easily and runs GREAT and has a couple of thousand miles on her since the rebuild. the engine sounds very healthy, the starter is a little on the sluggish side in my opinion. the old girl has a very good exhaust but it is VERY loud and need new donut gaskets to be fitted where the pipes join the manifolds. she has some great options and is fitted with SWING AWAY STEERING WHEEL, power windows and POWER VENT WINDOWS! power door locks, remote control drivers door mirror, overhead console, fender skirts and spinner hubcaps (only 3) factory A/C, power steering and power brakes. the windows were broken out by vandals. but all the glass has been bought to put in including a BRAND NEW WINDSHIELD still in the big box from the dealer. the windshield and back glass GASKETS ARE BRAND NEW! the back glass is in perfect condition and ready to put in. perfect used door glasses with frames also come with the car. the area around the back glass does have some rust out in a couple of spots about 6 inches long. these obviously need to be repaired but its all hidden once the new glass and gasket go in, please see the close up picture`s. the floor pans are all very SOLID. the rocker panels are also solid, very minor rust and thats it. there is evidence of some bondo down low by the rear wheel well`s but it must have been done years ago, see close up pictures. the trunk floor has had a repair done at some time in the distant past. but from underneath the inner quarter panels look good. the gas tank looks good also. the unibody frame rails all look very good. the underside lip of trunk lid looks good whereas the hood lip has some rust out which could be repaired easily enough in my opinion, see the pic`s. the 3 spinner hubcaps look very nice. the A/C is all complete and original as far as i can tell, i am sure its still on R12, but it may have been converted.

some of the dashboard levers and so on will need to be lubed or maybe taken out and cleaned up as they are stiff or just don`t want to move, all easy kind of stuff that just takes a bit of time and elbow grease. the braces that run from the shock towers to the firewall need to be bolted back in, they are in the trunk. there are a number of parts in the trunk including the landau bars for the roof, see the picture of parts laid on the trunk lid. the drivers door panel is off and will need some help around the door pull area. its all small kinda stuff that needs done.

the reserve is set low, to where my guy is only losing his shirt and not his first born child, LOL.

right now the old girl will crank right up and drive around the yard or onto a trailer but she has not been on the road for a couple of years. in my opinion the buyer will need to trailer the car away. i can provide a shipping quote if you give me the town you live in and the zip code. i am not saying that the car could not be driven away but its not something i would do. for a start it is VERY VERY loud. if you have any questions, want to make an offer or need more pictures please email. or you can call me on 864 616 6860 up until 10 pm east coast time. shipping over sea`s is no problem at all and charleston port is only 4 hours east of me. i have already shipped antique cars to england, germany, sweden and australia. clear title in hand along with the original keys for the car.

i am sure i am missing things here as i am not familiar with this kind of car so i encourage you to call or better yet stop by and see the car in person. any inspection is welcome and we can put her up on a lift for you so you can have a really good look underneath.
FULL PAYMENT IN THREE DAYS. the ONLY methods of payment are CASH IN PERSON or a BANK WIRE TRANSFER. no other type of payment will be accepted and if you cannot comply with these simple terms then simply do not bid. thanks and good luck y`all.

Ken Block rally cars go blue in the face (and everywhere else)

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Well at least we now know why Ken Block "just ain't care" about smashing up his Ford Fiesta rally car recently. It's because he's getting a full brand makeover including a new team name, new paint scheme and even a new headquarters. Formerly known as Monster World Rally Team, Block and his Fiesta will now be competing under the Hoonigan Racing Division name, which is based out of a new 12,000 square foot facility located in Park City, UT.
As you can tell in the image above, Hoonigan Racing will replace the familiar black, white and green paint scheme with a more colorful design featuring plenty of blue, purple and red; the Monster Energy logo retains some of the car's green. The new paint scheme was inspired by Block's love of skateboard graphics from the '80s and early '90s as well as "Miami Vice-era" speedboats.
Block will continue to compete in multiple rally racing series such as Global RallyCross, World Rally Championship and X Games. The new headquarters features office space on one side and a shop for the cars on the other side. The building features plenty of stuff you'd expect from a company designed around Ken Block, including a massive gaming station for racing video games, recycled shipping containers used throughout the facility and a black bear.

Ford EcoBoost V6 hits the dyno before hitting the track

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

Ford Racing just unveiled the Riley Daytona Prototype that will make its racing in the United SportsCar Racing Championship Rolex 24 at Daytona in January, and now it has released a video showing development of twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that powers the car. Using the same block and heads that can be found on a production Ford Taurus SHO, this new racecar benefits from the collaboration between Ford Racing and Ford powertrain engineers.
While we still don't know what kind of power this engine is putting out, it has definitely gotten a workout at Ford's 17G dyno. This area deep within Ford allows the automaker's racing program to work hand-in-hand with production engine programs, which can be a benefit to racing operations and production cars alike. Scroll down to hear a few people from Ford talk about the crosspollination between its racing and engine teams and watch the EcoBoost get red hot on the dyno.

Ford Focus ST, Fiesta ST buyers to get free Octane Academy driving school

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

The Ford Focus ST and Fiesta ST have created plenty of excitement in the sport compact segment, and Ford is looking to make sure that owners are driving and enjoying their cars to the best of their abilities. As an added bonus for buying one of these sporty hatchbacks, Ford will provide a complimentary ST Octane Academy session to be held at the Miller Motorsports Park in Utah.
Attendees will be responsible for travel and lodging, but Ford will provide the driving school free of charge. Included in this two-day trip, ST owners will get class instruction and driving instruction in prepped Focus ST and Fiesta ST models on the track and autocross course. Some karting action will also be involved as will a tour of Ken Block's Hoonigan Racing headquarters located nearby. If this doesn't sound like enough fun, there is also an optional day of activities that includes some more track time in a Mustang GT and off-road instruction in an F-150 SVT Raptor.
Ford told us that those who have already purchased a Focus ST or Fiesta ST will still be able to attend the performance driving school, but the press release, which is posted below, makes it sound like it applies to original owners only. Ford has yet to announce its schedule for the ST Octane Academy or prices for additional activities or guests.
