1964 Ford Thunderbird Convertible "Roadster"

This is a 1964 convertible bird with true spoke wire wheels and tonneau cover. It has the original owners manual and build sheet. This is the second of pair of birds I purchased from an estate about two months ago. The gentleman purchased this one in 1985 in Hollywood, Fl. He had a total of seven birds and a few others automobiles in his collection. This is a very solid car, the floor pans and trunk pan are solid and do not appear to have ever been patched. The engine is a 390 CID, 4 bbl carb, with a automatic transmission. The engine bay is very clean and has been dressed up with some chrome. It remains original besides the air cleaner and the factory parts were chromed. The interior is in good shape with no tears or splits, the carpet is like new and has 4 rubber Thunderbird floor mats. It has power steering, power brakes, power windows, power driver seat, swing a way steering column, radio (works), clock (does not work) and wipers and washers. The windshield and all of the side glass are original. The trunk is solid and has had a trim kit put in at some time. The convertible top was replaced not to long before my purchase of the cars. It is like new and the top frame weather strips are good and appear to have been replaced too. The tonneau cover has a label underneath of it that dates it to 1964. It was probably a dealer installed item since factory roadsters are 62 & 63 only.

The engine has been been serviced, new battery, new plugs, fuel filter, oil & filter, air cleaner element, fomoco radiator hoses, heater hoses, thermostat and gasket, antifreeze, belts, has newer plug wires and cap. The exhaust and mufflers are new, the tires are like new, new door weather strip, new trunk weather strip kit, new outer window seals, a-pillar seals, 4 new window switches, and fuel sending unit. All of the gauges work, the lights work, trunk lamp, interior door lamps, wipers, heater blower motor, and windows.

The car shows 89,515 miles showing. The previous owners son thought this was original mileage. I have no documentation so I am representing it as exempt on the mileage. Please come take a look and take it for a spin. I am in Wentzville, Mo. 35 miles west of St. Louis on I-70. The car is sold as is-where is with no warranty. Please call with any questions (806) 477-2201 (Greg). I can assist with setting up shipping if needed. I sale world wide and can help assist with your shipping as well.

Please only serious buyers, I set my reserves low, so please only bid if you intend on buying this car. A $1,000.00 deposit is due on paypal within 24 hours of the close of auction and the remainder to be paid within 72 hours of close of auction. If you need any specific picture or info feel free to ask.

Car technology I'm thankful and unthankful for

Mon, Nov 27 2017

The past few years have seen a surge of tech features in new vehicles — everything from cloud-based content to semi-autonomous driving. While some of it makes the driving experience better, not all tech is useful or well thought out. Automakers who are adept at drivetrains, ride quality and in-cabin comforts often fail at infotainment interfaces and connectivity. From testing dozens of vehicles each year and in the spirit of gratitude, here are three car tech features I'm thankful — and a trio I could live without. Thanks Connected search: This seems like a no-brainer since everyone already has it on their smartphones, but not all automakers include it in the dashboard and as part of their nav systems. The best ones, such as Toyota Entune, leverage a driver's connected device to search for a range of services and don't charge a subscription or require a separate data plan for the car. I also like how systems like Chrysler Uconnect use Yelp or other apps to find everything from coffee to gas stations and allow searching via voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: It took two of the largest tech companies to get in-dash infotainment right. While they have their disadvantages (you're forced to use Apple Maps with CarPlay, for example), the two smartphone-integration platforms make it easier and safer to use their respective native apps for phoning, messaging, music and more behind the wheel by transferring a familiar UI to the dashboard — with no subscription required. Heated seats and steering wheels: I really appreciate these simple but pleasant features come wintertime. It's easy to get spoiled by bun-warmers on frosty mornings and using a heated steering wheel to warm the cold hands. I recently tested a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe that also had heated armrest that added to a cozy luxury experience. Bonus points for brands like Buick that allow setting seat heaters to turn on when the engine is remotely started. No thanks Automaker infotainment systems: Automakers have probably poured millions into creating their own infotainment systems, with the result largely being frustration on the part of most car owners. And Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming along to make them obsolete. While some automaker systems, such as Toyota Entune and FCA's Uconnect, are easy and intuitive to use, it seems that high-end systems (I'm looking at you BMW iDrive and Mercedes-Benz COMAND) are the most difficult.

Ford tumbles to second worst in Consumer Reports reliability survey, list dominated by Japanese [w/video]

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

It's no secret that MyFord Touch has had its share of problems since being introduced, but the most recent reliability survey from Consumer Reports shows just how much this infotainment system has affected Ford. Just two years ago, the automaker was in the top 10 for the institute's reliability rankings, but since then, it has tumbled to the second-lowest rung just above dead-last Jaguar. In addition to MyFord Touch, CR also attributes a handful of new products that have had issues right out of the gate.
Compiled from 1.2 million subscriber surveys, this year's auto reliability survey heavily favors Japanese automakers, with eight of the 10 spots hailing from Japan. Toyota brands grabbed the top three spots (Scion, Toyota and Lexus - in that order) with Mazda, Subaru, Honda and Acura filling the next four spots. The only non-Asian automaker cracking the top 10 was Audi at number eight.
Audi climbed a total of 18 spots from last year, and Cadillac and GMC round out this year's top gainers breaking into the top 15. Helping Cadillac's upward movement, the CTS Coupe was named the most reliable domestic car. Lincoln, Volvo and Chrysler join Ford on this year's biggest loser list.

Ford Escort Concept goes back to basics

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

Here's the thing about China: The folks buying cars there have a very different set of standards than shoppers in many other markets around the globe. While we all drool over hot metal with bold designs, and while we appreciate automakers going an extra step to inject even their cheapest offerings with aggressive and interesting cues, that sort of sheetmetal sex appeal doesn't always sell in the People's Republic. Case in point is Jaguar, which may be designing a more traditional-looking version of its XJ for the Chinese market, or more to the point of this story, Ford currently sells the less-exciting, last-generation Focus compact in China right alongside the new one.
So consider this new Shanghai-bound C-segment concept a preview of what's to come for that more traditional, budget-minded, less-sexy market. More proof of this pudding: Ford's even calling this concept the Escort - a nod to the Blue Oval's compact car days of yore, and a name that stirs up thoughts of basic, affordable transportation rather than great driving dynamics or bold design. "Customers in China described seeking a vehicle that is stylish - but not one that is arrogant or pretentious," Ford states. And this new Escort concept previews a possibility of providing exactly that for this rapidly expanding automotive market.
What you're looking at, then, is one of the most simple Ford designs we've seen of late, though it still incorporates all of the automaker's latest DNA. The signature hexagonal grille is front and center, flanked by attractive LED headlamps and chrome-rimmed foglamp housings. The entire car's design focuses on clean, smooth surfaces, with one strong character line flowing from front to back just below the beltline. We will say that the car looks decidedly more premium from the rear view, where narrow, horizontal taillamps with an LED accent give the car added visual width. Bland as it may be, it's a handsome little concept, though fear what would likely happen if all of the conceptual details get dumbed down for a production model.
