1964 Ford Thunderbird Convertible on 2040-cars
Strongsville, Ohio, United States
1964 Ford Thunderbird Convertible Custom This is a very cool and very clean 1964 Ford Thunderbird custom convertible (It started its life as a hard top which has since been removed and is now a convertible and has been for years). Features its original Ford 390 cubic inch motor and automatic transmission. Has had a recent tune up with new coil, wires, rotor cap and brand new Edelbrock carburetor. She runs great and is ready for action! The engine compartment is very clean also. The car has had a repaint that still looks very good and shines up nice. It is pretty much rust free but there is evidence of past body work on the drivers door and quarter panels at some point (still very presentable driver). The interior is also in decent shape. The rear seats are very nice but the front drivers seat has some tears and needs to be recovered. The carpet is in nice shape. The dash is in very good shape. Dash chrome is in nice shape. Console is in nice shape. Door panels are decent but beginning to show there age (drivers side has a rip that is taped). All gauges on the car work (fuel, Amps, temperature and oil pressure). The horn, lights, turn signals and wipers all work. Car also has a brand new JVC AM/FM CD stereo radio installed. The car has the correct wheel covers. Rear bumper is new and looks great. Front is original and a little dull. The finish work where the cuts were made are decent but are somewhat crude (however still look correct and can be easily improved upon if desired). The trunk is clean and has a new correct trunk liner and tire cover (see picture). This Thunderbird gets attention everywhere and is a blast to drive! It looks, feels, and drives like a real convertible but you never need to worry about the top not working!!! Here is your chance to own a Thunderbird convertible for about a third of what a real one in this condition would sell for!!!!! Feel free to email with questions or call me at 440-785-2687. Shipping of the car is the responsibility of the buyer. However, I am happy to assist in finding transportation of the vehicle. On Apr-30-14 at 14:00:45 PDT, seller added the following information: THE ROOF OF THIS CAR HAS BEED REMOVED (cut). THERE IS NOT A TOP TO THIS CAR. Open air only as shown.... |

VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years
Wed, 18 Sep 2013This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.
Watch how a Ford Raptor rolls down the assembly line in Dearborn
Sun, 30 Mar 2014Bloomberg TV reporter Matt Miller is the proud new owner of a pretty killer truck. How do we know? The reporter headed to Dearborn, MI to Ford's assembly plant, with a film crew in tow, to see exactly how his new F-150 SVT Raptor and its mother-loving 6.2-liter V8 engine, was screwed together.
The resulting video does an excellent job of summing up how an assemblage of parts and pieces is turned into a triple-black Raptor, thanks to the work of some 1,000 employees and about 20 hours of real time. Click through below to see how the truck is born, with a surprise cameo playing the part of delivery driver at the end.
Oprah at it again, gives car away on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Sat, 17 Aug 2013Oprah Winfrey loves giving away cars. Not only has she given Pontiac G6 sedans and Volkswagen Beetle retro-mobiles to everyone in the audience of her past show, but the other night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! she gave another car away to one lucky audience member, while yelling her now-famous line: "You get a car!"
Although the acting of Oprah and Jimmy Kimmel was obviously staged for this giveaway, the reaction from the woman in the audience was genuine shock as she found out that she had just won a new Ford Fusion Energi. Congrats!
Not to take away from what Oprah and Jimmy pulled off, but our cynical sides have to wonder if there isn't more than just a little coincidence that this giveaway took place on the same day that Ford announced a fuel economy reduction for the C-Max hybrid. You be the judge... Scroll down to watch the short clip from the episode.
