1964 Ford Thunderbird Base Red Convertible 2-door 6.4l on 2040-cars
Douglasville, Georgia, United States
This is a No RESERVE AUCTION for a 1964 thunderbird convertible with a 390 fe big block engine built by BCI- barnett racing- here in atl ga back when they were building engines for walk in customers. I had it on an engine stand all this time and installed it 6 months ago. logged 2k on it so far, just leisurely driving around town. Vehicle starts and runs great but still needs a few more items to be perfect..higher stall converter 2800+(it has the factory stall 1800-2000), the engine has a rather aggressive cam with a racy idle{comp cam magnum 292h)The aggressive cam causes the air pressure to the brake booster to remain low ( 10-12psi, 15+ is ideal) and therefore it takes slightly more effort to press brake pedal. I planned to install a hydroboost brake system. New tires, new (in box) disc brake conversion kit purchased from thunderbird ranch, new shifter for steering column - the swing away steering column will not stay '' locked' in park for long periods because the old shifter is worn refurbished motors for the driver & pass windows, books, schematics, fender skirts, New Dual core aluminum radiator by American eagle, New 12 inch electric front mount fan for aluminum radiator, New power master 'master torque starter' part -9606 New power master chrome alternator ' signature series'' 140 amps part# 8-37140 900 cold cranking amp heavy duty battery New holly mechanical fuel pump and fuel regulator New edlebrock 4 barrel carb New main electric window switches . Convertible top isn't operational but can be manually folded into trunk. There are many spare parts in the trunk for windows, convertible top etc... Rust on the deck lid and hood can be repaired. Heat blows and all lights work. Fender mount turning signals need replacing. The turning signals in the rear and front of car work fine despite the inoperable fender mounted lights. |

Watch how a Ford Raptor rolls down the assembly line in Dearborn
Sun, 30 Mar 2014Bloomberg TV reporter Matt Miller is the proud new owner of a pretty killer truck. How do we know? The reporter headed to Dearborn, MI to Ford's assembly plant, with a film crew in tow, to see exactly how his new F-150 SVT Raptor and its mother-loving 6.2-liter V8 engine, was screwed together.
The resulting video does an excellent job of summing up how an assemblage of parts and pieces is turned into a triple-black Raptor, thanks to the work of some 1,000 employees and about 20 hours of real time. Click through below to see how the truck is born, with a surprise cameo playing the part of delivery driver at the end.
European car sales up 8% in February
Sat, 22 Mar 2014Three weeks ago an analyst increased projections for European car sales this year, expecting them to climb three percent compared to last year instead of 2.7 percent. That number is a postive sign after years of hard times but it turns out February was especially good, overall European sales climbing eight percent on a wave of southern European recovery and discounts - and this comes after five months of gains including January's 7.2-percent jump over the year before.
The only country of Europe's five largest markets to post a decline was France, just as it did in January, Germany, the UK and Italy posting solid double-digit numbers, Spain rocking the charts with an 18-percent increase because of a government program to encourage trade-ins.
The only brand to miss the wave was Volkswagen, dropping 0.8 percent as it watched the double-digit growth at sister brands Audi, Seat and Skoda lift the Volkswagen Group sales up by seven-percent. Peugeot overcame flat sales at Citroën to improve the group by 3.5 percent, BMW and the Mercedes-Benz/Smart combo rose by four percent, the Fiat group jumped 5.8 percent, Ford was up 11 percent, the Renault Group 11.5 percent, General Motors 12 percent and the Toyota clan by 14 percent.
Brits recreate iconic Bullitt chase scene
Tue, 13 May 2014Recreating the famous chase scene from Bullitt has become almost an art form in its own right. We've seen it done in a music video, with scale models and even in commercials. There are few films that are as defined by a single scene as the 1968 classic. Even if you don't know a single beat of the plot, the Highland Green Ford Mustang racing a Dodge Charger through the hilly streets of San Francisco is famous. It's so well known that the Silverstone Classic has created a homage to promote its celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang at this year's event in July.
Filmed around the famous UK circuit, the short film generally gets the key points of the scene right. It even has a green Volkswagen Beetle that keeps reappearing, as in the movie. Unfortunately, its Steve McQueen stand-in looks a little too old for the role. While the video shortens the chase considerably, it's still great to see these '60s behemoths leaning and sliding around the track. Scroll down for a touch of nostalgia thanks to one of the greatest scenes ever in cinema - we've got both the recreation and the original chase seen from the movie waiting for you.
