This is an original 1962 Thunderbird Sports Roadster in very good condition.  All systems work beautifully, including the very complex top mechanism.  It has been cared for for about 9 years by this owner (me) and has spent more than 6 of those years in carefully temp and humidity controlled storage while I was living overseas.  It has been serviced to bring it to reliable and smooth operation and it is a joy to drive.  It is the ONE TRUE HEAD TURNER you will own, unless you happen to drive a Veyron to work.  The "Buy it Now" price on this car is a steal.  81K miles.  Rangoon Red with Black Interior.  390, 4bbl (caution, those M-code cars were recalled because they were hand grenades, and most of them today are aftermarket builds).  This is the REAL DEAL, factory correct in every known detail, and the VIN number, unlike all of the clones, proves its historic value.  2Y89Z151598.   Ford changed the VIN in 1962 so that the later runs of this car were marked with that VIN prefix to specifically identify the factory Sports Roadsters - any other T-Bird "roadster" need very careful investigation as most of them, including here on EBay are clone cars with after market tonneau covers.  This is one of only 1,427 built and no one knows how many are left today, but the general concensus is that there are less than 300 of them.  Elvis and Marilyn bought 'em (from Lee Iaccoca), now you can too.  This car has been well maintained, mechanically improved (correctly) and is ready to make all those heads turn your way.  The car is living in a temperature controlled garage in Arizona; it was a Texas car originally.  It has only known sunny days and dry roads.  I will miss this one!!!!

2015 Ford Mustang revs it up at Cars & Coffee

Mon, 09 Dec 2013

Just because the new 2015 Ford Mustang has officially been released, you didn't think that would be the end of the matter - did you? Of course not. There'll still be plenty of rumors, reports and video footage to bring you. Like this, the first non-official footage of the new pony car in the wild.
Shot by YouTube user SotA1080 and dug up by our friends at CarBuzz, this clip shows the new Mustang posing for photos (alongside other Mustangs) and starting up its engine at the most recent gathering of Cars & Coffee in Irvine, CA. And this being the GT model, it's not packing the V6 or the turbo four, but the red-blooded 5.0-liter V8 that tells us and enthusiasts worldwide that the new Mustang has not lost its way. Scroll on down to watch the footage for yourself.

2014 Roush Stage 3 Mustang

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

Up until now, it's been some years since I managed to get behind the wheel of the hot Mustangs tuned by the folks at Roush Performance. My memories of those vehicles are fond, as the Roush up-fits usually make for better-driving examples of the iconic Ford pony, with better-tuned suspensions, excellent short-shift kits and, of course, huge additions of power. The wake-your-neighbors aural characteristics of these cars have been nothing short of outstanding, too.
But in the years since my last experience with the Roush formula, Ford's own development team has churned out some pretty potent 'Stangs. We currently live in a world where the Blue Oval will sell you a Mustang with 662 horsepower from the factory, and the recently departed Boss 302 remains one of the best Mustangs - and best sports coupes - the Autoblog crew has ever driven.
So with great-driving and hugely powerful Mustangs coming straight off the line at Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant, does the Roush package still offer that extra special something to make it stand out? I spent a week with a Stage 3 coupe to find out.

Ford dinged by OSHA for asbestos at Buffalo plant

Sat, 20 Jul 2013

Ford has come under fire from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for violations regarding asbestos exposure in a company metal stamping plant in Buffalo, NY. OSHA has cited Ford for eight violations in total, according to an Automotive News report, and faces fines of up to $41,800. 537 workers are employed at the stamping facility.
The violations include a pipefitter at the facility being exposed to asbestos-containing material while working on a steam line, other workers exposed to the material without respiratory protection and work areas that were not designed to limited the number of workers in contact with asbestos. Further, areas in which asbestos was present were not properly restricted, and levels of asbestos in the air were not monitored.
According to an unnamed Ford spokesperson in the AN report, the company feels that the OSHA citation is erroneous saying, "We have fully cooperated with the local OSHA officials and we don't believe the citations are warranted." Ford also maintains that it will work with the authorities to resolve the issue.
