I have up for auction a fairly solid old t-bird.  In most cases people would consider this a full restoration needed.   The truck pan is in descent shape and doesn't look bad underneath.  The worst part of the car is underneath the front of the hood and the drivers side floor pan which i took pics of to show the extent of rust.  The rest of the floor pans look to be fairly solid with the exception of the passenger side floorboard where it looks like someone took a large screwdriver and punctured two holes in it.  Don't know why this was done.  Only two of the windows worked with the switch, which was the front driver's side and the rear passenger window, the glass is in the other two windows just wouldn't go up with the switch.  All of the parts to the top are there, but disconnected to allow manual operation of the top being put up and down.  The lower rockers do show sign of some rust, but nothing with holes through.  The motor turns over with ignition key, but have not tried to start might later this weekend and will update info as needed.  Does  not have the gas  tank in it, but does have a gas tank.   All of the fluids are appear to be good in the motor and clean.  The last time the vehicle was tagged was in 1993.   The mufflers and a few of the brake lines appear to have been replaced a couple years ago.  If your looking for a descent project that you can maybe enjoy without spending a lot of money getting on the road this would be the one.  There is NO RESERVE!!!!    Please if you have any questions ask before bidding, this car is being sold as is and where is,  if you would like to come and look at vehicle can arrange time to meet with you.    The buyer is responsible for the shipping costs of vehicle.   Will require full payment before title or car leaves premises.  Thanks and happy bidding.

40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.

Ford Fusion demand outstripping supply

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

The attractive new 2013 Ford Fusion has done wonders for the brand in the highly competitive midsize sedan segment - the vehicle is up nearly 22 percent compared to last year. But that sales momentum may soon hold steady due to low inventory levels of the new Fusion across the United States.
According to a report in The Detroit News, citing automotive data and Ward's Auto, Ford currently has a 39-day supply of the Fusion. That might sound fine, but a normally healthy average is about a 60-day supply. If Ford were to stop production on the Fusion today, there would only be enough vehicles available to get through another five weeks of sales, according to the News.
Currently, Ford produces the Fusion at its three-shift assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, and will add production at its facility in Flat Rock, MI later this year. A Ford spokesperson told The Detroit News that when Flat Rock production comes online, the automaker will need to rush new stock out to the regions with the most demand for the Fusion. Ford has doubled its coastal retail market share, with huge amounts of growth in areas like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, the News reports.

Exceptionally rare '65 Ford GT40 Roadster prototype up for auction

Sat, 14 Jun 2014

Think of mid-engined supercars and your mind is bound to gravitate towards Europe, but the United States has been known to make a handful from time to time - exceptional vehicles from the likes of Vector, SSC, Mosler, Hennessey, and Saleen. But long before any of those came around, Ford famously became obsessed with beating Ferrari at its own game, leading to the development of the iconic GT40.
The story is well known, sending Ford to the checkered flag at Le Mans four times in a row in the late 1960s. Ford and Shelby also built over 100 for public consumption, but just four of them were roadsters. Of those only one remains in original condition, and now that exceedingly rare example going up for auction.
Consigned to RM Auctions for its mid-August sale during Pebble Beach weekend in Monterey, California, this 1965 model is the first GT40 Roadster built. It was used as a development and demonstration vehicle for Ford and Shelby. Carroll Shelby himself drove Henry Ford II in this very car during one of many test and demo events, this time held for Ford's board of directors in Los Angeles.
