1958 Thunderbird. Originally white with black leather interior. Came from the factory with a 352, automatic, a/c
The car was completely restored and rebuilt by the second owner from 1992 until 1995. He restored it for his wife, and did an excellent job. All new paint, welded in panels to repair rust behind wheel wells, removed some trim, new upholstery on front seats, all new painless wiring, new 390 engine, new c6 trans, rebuilt 9" rear end w 3:00 gears, front disc brakes, all new tinted glass, weatherstripping, and on and on.
Then his wife passed away and the car was parked in about 1996 after doing well in a few local car shows. She had only driven it 4000 miles since he finished the restoration. RJ then parked it on the side of his house with a car cover and a tarp over it. That is where I found it in 2010. I have gone through the car and fixed many of the things that sitting over that time caused, as well as make some changes to fit my style better.
Paint is in good to very good condition for being close to 20 years old, no bondo anywhere. I repainted the roof to match the rest of the car. There was damage on it when I purchased it, from the car cover. There are some minor dings here and there, but not noticeable without close inspection. The clear coat is starting to go south.(there are very small bubbles starting to appear in places, not visible to camera shots) Therefore, I would call the paint driver quality. Vehicle is 99% rust free. There is a small spot under the car on the pass floor board that could use a patch, but it is very minor.
Factory equipped with Power steering(completely rebuilt), Power Brakes (completely rebuilt and as good as the brakes on a 58 bird can be), and AC. The AC is not hooked up currently. The blower motor and ac controls are functional. The cost is about 800.00 in parts to get the AC up and running.
Black and White Interior has been replaced and is in excellent condition. The front and rear seat upholstery is new black vinyl with new oe style padding from Thunderbird Headquarters. Drivers power seat works, passenger power seat is inop.
Carpet is new, door panels are new, headliner is original with no tears. Dash pad has a replacement cover over it that looks great. One sun visor is nice, one needs to be replaced. Interior trim is nice. Has some pitting, some pieces are really clean, and some are driver quality.
Motor(390) and trans(C6) have about 6000 miles on them. They were rebuilt in 1994. They have all new fluids, and operate perfectly.
Motor has Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock carb, Mallory dist, 8mm wires, flowmaster mufflers with cross pipe. Car has a fresh tune up within the last year. Also has an upgraded fan with fan clutch, dual overflow tanks and an electric fan. The car stays very cool.
Engine compartment is detailed, silver painted fenderwells. This was done when the car was rebuilt in 1994 ish. Could use some paint touchup, isnt perfect, but still looks very nice.
All new painless wiring in 1994, all electronics work. Windows, switches, dash, etc. Clock is inop.
Chrome was redone in 1994( bumpers, grills, trim, etc). It is in very good condition. There are some small bubbles/pitting, but looks very nice. There are some surface rust areas on the chrome in spots under the car, not visible from normal view.
All of the glass was new in 1994. It is all tinted glass, except for the windshield. The glass is all in great shape. The windshield has some scratches in it, but it does not effect the field of view.
All of the lenses were replaced in 1994 and are still in great shape.
New gas tank and sender in 2010, fuel gauge works and is accurate.
All power windows work. The front two are great, have new now motors. The back two have all new rollers, and motors, but the rear windows are one of those things that will always have issues. Use em and they will break, dont use em and they will break. They need to have brass rollers installed, but the guy that made em stopped, and I havent been able to find more. The rear windows don't line up perfectly, but great for a 55 year old car.
Has Custom Auto Sound deck in factory dash, works well. Speaker is in the center console. This radio looks like a factory radio, but works like a newer one. I also have the original factory radio.
KYB shocks. Suspension has been rebuilt both in 1994 and in 2010 and is in excellent condition. Runs smoothly down the road
Battery relocated to trunk.
Trunk has been nicely upholstered. No rust in trunk pan.
17x8, 17x9.5 Stockton wheels, powdercoated black, with smoothie Ford caps
New Nitto tires
This vehicle operates flawlessly and is ready to cruise cross country, be a daily driver, or be a weekend cruiser( like it was for me)
I have done my best to be very open and honest in my evaluation of the car. Please feel free to call, and come out and see it.

Ford will build Hackmobile out of Transit Connect Wagon
Fri, 27 Dec 2013What you see in the above image is a rendering of the Hackmobile Transit Connect Wagon. What is that? It's a "mobile fabrication and hacking unit" that includes tools for metal- and woodworking, 3D and electronics fabrication, a three-axis CNC machine called "The Fabber," a video projector and screen, an air compressor, an 84x48-inch work surface that folds out like a Murphy bed and oh so much more. When not in use, all of the implements fold neatly into the back of Ford's award-winning van.
But perhaps the more important question is why is that? Because Make Magazine held an Ultimate Maker Vehicle Challenge in conjunction with Ford in which ten teams created were charged with creating "the ultimate Ford Transit Connect Wagon for the do-it-yourself enthusiast." Team Twin Cities Maker won the competition with the Hackmobile, and in addition to winning $10,000, Ford has declared it's actually going to build the thing - which is great, because if they can actually engineer a road-legal Hackmobile Transit Connect Wagon as envisioned, the inevitable A-Team movie reboot might need to think about including it.
Check out the video below for a cheeky walk-through of the Hackmobile, and get all the particulars in the press release below that.
McLaren, Koenigsegg, Toyota, Ford, Dodge and Corvette Lego kits announced for 2021
Tue, May 4 2021Lego has announced a slew of car-themed sets for 2021. The six kits comprise nine vehicles and fall under the brick pusher's Speed Champion line of official OEM-licensed kits. News of their arrival comes from German toy retailer JB Spielwaren's pre-order listings, which show three single-car sets and three dual-car sets of matched marques. Starting with the McLaren Elva roadster, the kit consists of 263 pieces and is finished in blue. It seems to have a difficult time capturing the curves of the real-life Elva, but there's only so much you can do with a bunch of plastic blocks. Lego has made several other McLaren kits before, including the Senna, 720S, and a more advanced Senna GTR for the Technics line. Next up is the Koenigsegg Jesko, made up of 280 pieces and finished in white. Though the real-life Jesko is still curvy, this kit does a better job of replicating its aggressive maw, vents and cantilevered rear wing. Rounding out the single-car sets is the 299-piece Toyota GR Supra in yellow. This marks the first time Toyota has lent their license to Lego. Again, it struggles a bit to represent the curvy Supra, relying on printed details like logos and headlights to identify. On the other hand, the Chevrolet two-car does a stupendous job with the 1968 Corvette. The C3 is instantly recognizable as such. The C8-R race car it's paired with suffers from the same issues as some of the previous cars, though. The set contains 512 pieces, and funnily enough the C8 driver has short hair while the C3 driver sports a period-correct wavy mane. The next set is a 627-piece Mopar-themed pair, including a purple (Plum Crazy?) 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A and an SRT top fuel dragster. The race car is spot on, but the Challenger was probably tough to make given the width restrictions. It looks a couple of pegs too narrow compared to the wide proportions of the real deal. Last but not least, the Ford set contains a Bronco R and Ford GT Heritage Edition. Consisting of 660 pieces, the set does an excellent job of representing both cars. The GT looks faithful in its Gulf livery, and the Bronco R looks more like a real Bronco than the actual Bronco R race truck. All in all, it's always fun to see more Lego sets with real cars, and we're glad to see more manufacturers added to the roster. The single-car sets are recommended for ages 7 and up, while the double-car sets have an 8 years and up rating. Price in U.S.
Fields 'required' to use private aircraft, could make $5.25M as Ford CEO this year
Thu, 03 Jul 2014Mark Fields' travels on the friendly skies will soon be a relatively personal affair, as the new CEO at Ford will be required to resume air travel via the company's private planes. Fields caught plenty of flak in 2007 for flying on the company's dime to visit his family in Florida. He's since flown commercial.
According to Ford spokesperson Susan Krusel, who spoke to Bloomberg, Fields (pictured above right, with Bill Ford, Jr. at center and Alan Mulally at left) will switch to private travel "for safety and to maximize his availability for company business." In addition to his new travel arrangements, the 53-year-old exec's salary and bonuses have been revealed.
Regulatory filings by Ford revealed that Fields, whose first day in the big chair was July 1, will receive a base salary this year of $1.25 million and he'll be eligible for $3.5 million in bonuses, both of which are lower than Alan Mulally's $2 million salary and $5.88 million in bonuses received last year. That's also lower than General Motors CEO Mary Barra's alleged $1.6-million salary and considerably less than Sergio Marchionne's $3.19-million fixed salary from Fiat. Despite falling short of other CEOs, Fields' new pay still represents a 33-percent increase over his pay as Chief Operating Officer.
