Except for the color this is an all original numbers matching 57 Thunderbird. The car was painted the current color sometime prior to 1974 when my wife's uncle acquired the car. From the factory it would have been colonial white. The original radio is still in the car and it works. The original jack is in the trunk. The gas gauge and temperature gauge are not working. The wipers will not turn off when the motor is running (wipers have been removed but originals are with the car). Someone apparently tried to re-glue or replace the padded dash and did not do a very good job on the right side. Interior is still the original and shows the age. I have not had the soft top up but it appears to be in good condition. The rear window is clear and not cracked. The car had been sitting since 2008. It will start right up but does run a little rough and needs a good tune up. The car could fit the description of being a "20 footer". The transmission leaks fluid....seals have likely dried from not being driven. The "Fordomatic" transmission shifts fine. A careless hauler used a ratchet strap across the rear of the car resulting in damage to the paint slightly larger than a quarter in the middle of the trunk lid. Overall the paint is fair. I've found no rust on the body. There is a small part of the front grill with some surface rust that re-plating or replacing would cure. A little of the chrome shows some pitting. Tires have aged (still bias ply) and need to be replaced. If you are looking for a 57 Thunderbird that you can do some work on to make a nice driver or to fully restore this is a good choice. I will assist with shipping but arranging for and paying for shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer. A 10% deposit is required within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Final payment due within 10 days of end of auction and to be by cash or Cashier's check only prior to pickup. Prompt pickup is expected.....if not picked up within two weeks of end of sale deposit will be forfeited and this vehicle will be back on the market unless other arrangements have been made with me. I am offering this car for sale outside of Ebay and reserve the right to pull this car from auction unless reserve price has been reached. If you have additional questions you may contact me through Ebay.

Ford faces class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles without brake override systems
Fri, 29 Mar 2013A total of 20 Ford customers are suing the automaker in a class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles "vulnerable to unintended acceleration." According to Reuters, the suit names 30 models built between 2002 and 2010 with electronic throttle control systems but without a brake override system. Those include the 2004-2012 F-Series pickups and the 2005-2009 Lincoln Town Car. Adam Levitt, a partner with the law firm of Grant & Eisenhofer says the plaintiffs in the case want "to be compensated for their economic losses by having overpaid for cars that contained defects." Levitt contends that the plaintiffs would not have bought their vehicles or paid less for them had they known there was no brake override system in place.
Ford began installing brake override systems in its vehicles beginning in 2010. In response to the lawsuit, Ford has pointed to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that indicated that unintended acceleration is mostly caused by driver error, saying in a statement that, "NHTSA's work is far more scientific and trustworthy than work done by personal injury lawyers and their paid experts."
Belville et al v. Ford Motor Co. will be heard in US District Court in the Southern District of West Virginia.
Does the new 2015 Ford Mustang have a burnout control system?
Tue, 10 Dec 2013Whether it's lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring or automatic emergency braking, most of the electronic systems we see emerging on new vehicles focus on safety. But there are some there just for enthusiasts. We're talking about systems like automatic throttle blipping for perfect downshifts, or launch control to get that textbook acceleration from a standstill. But the latest system could prove just the opposite of the latter.
Although it has given us most of the details, Ford is still keeping certain elements of its new Mustang secret. But emerging reports may have the skinny on one system which Ford is trying is darnedest to keep under its hat for the time being. That, according to unnamed sources cited by Motor Authority, is burnout control.
The system is reportedly designed to help novices execute the perfect smokey burnout - sort of like launch control, but specifically the opposite. The system could, according to elaborative speculation, lock the front brakes while spooling up the engine to optimal revolutions before dumping (or indicating the driver to do dump) the clutch. A cloud of tire smoke and a long pair of skid marks would then ensue.
Galpin Auto Sports and Fisker turn the Mustang into a Rocket in LA [w/video]
Thu, Nov 20 2014Galpin Auto Sport and Henrik Fisker made big promises about the Rocket before its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show today, calling it the "ultimate American muscle car." Now that this 725-horsepower carbon-fiber Ford Mustang has officially been revealed, we've now got a chance to see if their vision backs up all the bluster. The Rocket is based off the latest 2015 Mustang, but the entire exterior design has been substantially reworked by Fisker. "This is a project born out of passion, it's a dream come true, to have the opportunity to 'touch' a Mustang and apply my design ideas to it," he says in the model's announcement. The biggest changes come up front, where Fisker has added a gaping hexagonal grille with a polished bar running and two nearly hidden driving lights at the top corners. Long nostrils run down each side of the hood, taking their inspiration from the 1968 Shelby GT500. The Rocket's design also emphasizes its scalloped sides, which run back to functional ducts at the rear to cool the Brembo Grand Turismo brakes. When checking out the Rocket from the rear, it's easy to spot the wider fenders that are beautifully blended into the integrated spoiler. The interior has been left mostly alone beyond some eye-grabbing red leather and carbon-fiber trim. Under the hood, Galpin spokesperson Nathan Hoyt has confirmed to Autoblog that the Rocket employs a 5.0-liter V8 with a Whipple supercharger which can be called to attention with a six-speed manual gearbox. It took only a few months for the vehicle to go from conception to reality. Fisker showed Galpin President Beau Boeckmann early sketches at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and the two parties went from there. "When Henrik showed me his ideas, I got chills - it's literally the most beautiful Mustang I have ever seen," says Boeckmann in the company's release. Production is set to begin in December, with deliveries starting in early 2015. There's no set production total in mind for now, but Hoyt tells Autoblog that the price will be "just over $100,000." Scroll down to read all of the details about Fisker and Galpin's Rocket.
