Up for auction is my 1957 Ford Thunderbird. Description as follows:
Mechanical:
It has a 302 cubic inch Ford small block engine with an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and a Holley four barrel carb. I was told by the previous owner that the eng was rebuilt and has minimum mileage on it but I have no way to verify this. On startup the oil pressure reads around 50 pounds and well after driving the engine maintains over 40 pounds even at idle. There are no noises or smoke so I can assume the mileage and wear are minimal. The engine seems basically stock and has plenty of power. The transmission is a C4 cruisematic. The fluid looks fine and the transmission engages as it should and shifts prefectly, cold and warm. The differential is standard Ford 8 inch unit open unit with an indicated ratio of 3.10:1. The car is equipped with an original power steering setup which works exceptionally well. The front springs and shocks have been replaced as have the rear shocks. The ball joints are new as are the tie rod ends and bushings.. The car tracks straight as an arrow and handles as well as any car of the era should. The brakes have been replaced along with associated lines and hardware. The car stops without any drama or issues. Even the emergency brake is functioning. The fuel tank was replaced along with associated lines and filler hose. And, lastly, the radiator has been rebuilt and filled with fresh anti freeze. Mechanically I think the car is pretty much spot on and very reliable. The tires are modern radial design and look to be nearly brand new. I have driven it no more than 40-50 miles round trip several times with no issues in both heat of summer and cold of winter.
From a performance perspective the drive train combination should be trouble free and due to a dramatic decrease in weight over the original Y-Block and cast iron Fordomatic transmission it accelerates and handles better than it did in 1957.
Body:
Both side inner and outer rocker panels have been replaced (welded, not glassed in). Both rear quarter panels were rusted from over the fenderwells down and have been replaced with full length door to bumper repair sections all welded in, ground and finished with a light filler coat for blending. Bring your magnet and check it out, all steel. The drivers side rear wheel house has also been replaced and welded into the quarter and trunk floor. There are two small rust through areas in the floor by the drivers left foot and alongside the seat, shown in photographs. Both doors and door posts are in great shape, the drivers door is nearly new. The trunk floor is solid with surface rust with exception of two small rust through areas on each rear corner. The only other rust through areas are the usual areas at the front corners just below the headlights as shown in photos. The trim is all in good shape and all there. Bumpers are in pretty much standard driver condition for the car but undamaged and not bent.
Interior:
Seats covers are cracked, as shown as is the dashpad. Door panels are same.Drivers door has no glass but it comes with the car, as does both electric and manual window mechanisms and switches. Passenger door has glass installed and comes with extra glass as well as mechanical mechanism. I was going to install aftermarket power window setup as it's much cheaper and more reliable than the factory setup. Entire interior costs around 650.00 and that gives you everything short of dash pad, even rear garnish, kick panels and rear garnish.
This car Starts, Runs, Drives and Stops just the way you would want. Although still in primer (light coat, needs good coat of urathane high build and blocked down) its not going to embarrass you nor leave you stranded. Drive it and have fun as you work on it. It comes with both the convertible and the fiberglass hard top, neither one have rear glass. Everything works, even the horn as it had to pass a fairly recent full state inspection in Missouri.
Please contact me with any questions you may have or feel free to come by and have a look. My reserve is low so im pretty sure it will be going home with a new owner.

Meet Floyd Pullin, 102-year-old honorary president of Ford trucks [w/video]
Wed, 28 Aug 2013When we talk about trucks we often talk about how loyal truck owners are; it's men like Floyd Pullin who provide the proof. The 102-year-old man from Confluence, Pennsylvania has only owned Ford products since the 1920s, and he's done so well by Ford Trucks that the division named him honorary president for a day, not long after he took delivery of his latest ride, a 2013 F-150 STX.
That's the 16th Ford he's owned. If he bought his first when he was 16, he'd have flipped into a new car or truck about every five years. For 86 years. Not a bad run of business for either side.
Ford Trucks made a video to wish Pullin a happy birthday, which was celebrated at his local Ford dealership and was visited by a Pennsylvania state senator. You can watch it below.
How the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor became a reality
Wed, 01 May 2013The camouflaged Ford F-150 SVT Raptor prototype captured above blazing its way across the desert during a test run left company engineers giggling in amazement, reveals Jamal Hameedi in a new Autoweek video. Ford's global performance vehicle chief engineer, accompanied by senior exterior designer Bruce Williams, sat down with the publication to discuss the concept and development of the automaker's super off-road F-150.
Designing a high-performance pickup in 2008, right when the cost of gasoline was going through the roof, seemed insane at the time, but the team pushed forward with the innovative vehicle regardless. The interview includes plenty of Ford B-roll footage as visual candy, and the conversations include discussions about exterior design, ride comfort, anti-lock brake tuning, suspension engineering, weight reduction and why it was necessary to make the Raptor visually different than Ford's standard F-150. The model's origin story is very interesting, and you can learn more about it by watching the video below.
Ford lowers MPG ratings on six vehicles
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Ford has announced that it will be lowering the fuel economy ratings on a number of its 2013 and 2014 model year vehicles after an error was discovered in the company's internal testing data. The EPA has been notified.
Worryingly for Ford, the vast majority of the vehicles affected are hybrids, including the C-Max, Fusion and MKZ in both hybrid and plug-in varieties (where applicable). Also covered as part of the rerating is the entire lineup of 2014 Fiesta engines, with the exception of the ST, including the turbocharged, three-cylinder EcoBoost.
The C-Max was originally rated at 47/47/47 mpg, but dropped to 43/45/40 last year and now to 40/42/37.
