This is a very special car.

1955 Ford Thunderbird
292 V8
Automatic transmission
50,800 original miles (and counting...we are still happily driving it)
Texas car - NO RUST EVER.
Clean clear Florida title.
It has every available option for a T Bird in 1955 except for the hard top (which it came with, but is not included in the sale)
This vehicle spent several years on display at the Volo Museum (where the owner purchased it from in 1990). It has spent the last 24 years in a climate controlled building built specifically for the previous owners' classic car collection.
One repaint in 1990
Body is very straight.
Chrome is very nice, other that some of the small light housings (see picture). But very very presentable
The only things that were changed on the car that keep it from being a "survivor" are things that make it safe and driveable, such as disc brakes, modern carburator and ignition, and switched from 6 Volt to 12 Volt.
Interior is Tuxedo black / white and in good condition with no rips or tears or stains
The underside of the car is spotless, and has never ever been rusted nor repaired. It looks pretty much as it did in the 1950's.  This is very very rare for for the 1955-1957 T Birds. It is very unusual to find one that has not been rusted or repaired.
Nice wide white wall tires.
The motor runs nicely and smoothly. Drives excellent.
The car has PS, PDB, PW, PS, Convertible top, clock (that works), and back up lights (that all work)
The wipers work, but have been disconnected temporarily for a vacuum leak.
The transmission selector has a small leak of some transmission fluid. I may have that fixed before the new buyer picks up the car.
The horn works sometimes and sometimes not. I have not looked at it yet, but I will.
All the lights work.
The top looks great and is newer, and the rear window is clear. There are about three rivets in the bottom of the top where it meets the car that could be reinstalled, as they are pulling a bit. See the pictures.
I do not know how to turn the radio on. I assume it works, but I don't know how to turn it one.
The vehicle passed an NSRA Safety inspection last month. The current 2014 sticker is on the vehicle.
This is a very beautiful, unmolested car that runs and drives great and one that you could put your wife in to drive and send her off without worry. The blemishes / issues are very few on this fine automobile.
It's an investment that is only going to go up in value. They are only this nice ONCE, and they only have 50,000 original miles on them ONCE. It ALWAYS draws a crowd. Show or cruise ready just the way it is.

I can help with shipping and transport.
I do have experience with international exporting, and I am willing to help an overseas buyer (at their expense, of course).

Bid to WIN !!!!!

Ford and Chrysler reducing summer plant shutdowns

Wed, 22 May 2013

Most domestic automaker assembly plants traditionally take a couple of weeks off during the summer. The shutdowns give each plant time for much needed repairs and maintenance, and in some cases, help better align production with demand. Not this year, though, as demand for many models is outstripping what Ford, Chrysler and General Motors plants can produce.
Ford has announced that it will shorten its annual summer shutdown for most North American plants from two weeks to one. The shorter shutdown will increase the carmaker's annual North American production by 40,000 units on top of the 200,000 extra units that it was already planning to produce this year versus last. Automotive News reports that Ford produced 2.8 million vehicles on this continent in 2012, and that output this year has already increased 13 percent through April.
Chrysler, meanwhile, is also operating at full tilt and plans to run some plants through the summer with no shutdown at all. Those not getting a break include Jefferson North where the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are assembled, Toledo North that will assemble the new Cherokee, and Conner Avenue, home of SRT Viper production. Other assembly plants will be down for a single week, while all of Chrysler's engine and transmission plants except one in Indiana will continue operating with no shutdown this summer.

Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Toyota Tundra flunk IIHS headlight test

Tue, Oct 25 2016

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety put pickup truck headlights to the test and found that the majority of them were equipped with subpar units. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline was the only truck to earn a rating of "good." The large pickup truck test was comprised of the: 2016 to 2017 GMC Sierra, 2017 Nissan Titan, 2016 Ram 1500, 2016 to 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, 2016 to 2017 Ford F-150, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tundra. The Sierra's headlights earned a rating of "acceptable," the headlights found on the Titan and Ram 1500 were found to be "marginal," and the ones on the Silverado, F-150, and Tundra were rated as "poor." IIHS claims the F-150 was the most disappointing out of the large pickup trucks as both its halogen and optional LED headlights failed to provide adequate visibility during testing. The Ridgeline (which earned a "good rating"), is usually considered a midsize or small truck, though IIHS included it in the field of large pickups. The headlights on the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, 2016 GMC Canyon, 2016 Nissan Frontier, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tacoma, which made up the small pickup truck group, all earned a rating of "poor." The IIHS claimed the Colorado had the worst headlights of any truck that was tested, as the base vehicle's units were only able to illuminate up to 123 feet in front of the car. The Ridgeline's headlights, for reference, were able to illuminate up to 358 feet in front of the vehicle. To conduct its test, the IIHS utilizes a special tool to measure how far light is projected out of the headlights in different driving situations. The trucks' headlights were tested in a straight line and in corners, while vehicles with high-beam assist were given extra praise. The headlights on the pickup trucks also mimic the testing that was done on small SUVs and cars earlier this year. Next year, automakers will need to fit their vehicles with headlights that earn a rating of either good or acceptable to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Related Video:

Ford idling Michigan Assembly Plant to trim Focus, C-Max supply

Tue, 22 Oct 2013

Ford will be putting the brakes on production at its Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, MI, idling production during the weeks of October 28 and December 16. Ford is citing the first drop in US sales in 27 months, a 4.2-percent dip in September, as the impetus for trimming their supplies, according to Automotive News.
Ford's deft management of its supplies has been part of its success over the years, and seeing supplies of Focus and C-Max, the two vehicles built at MAP, rise from 58 and 108 days, respectively, to 71 and 122 days over the span of a month was apparently all that was need to justify the trimming. As AN points out, the rule of thumb for many automakers is to maintain a 60-day supply of vehicles.
"Ford has been focused on keeping their pricing in check. Their operating margin is in double digits. Nobody else is there and they're obviously very proud of that," Alan Baum, an auto analyst with Baum & Associates told AN. Keeping the supply chain operating smoothly and not increasing supplies too much is crucial to that healthy profit margin. After all, a large supply lowers prices ,which, in turn, cuts profit. So while this news might not be great for employees at MAP, who now have an extra two weeks of vacation time, it's far from a sign of problems in Dearborn. Quite the opposite, actually.
