Up for sale is a 1955 Ford Thunderbird. This car has had a frame off restoration. Everything has been replaced or rebuilt. On the exterior, the paint is a new factory raven black and the chrome is perfect or brand new. The convertible is a hardtop, but also includes a black tonnaeu cover for summer time driving; new whitewall tires and original hubcaps complete the exterior restoration. For the interior, seats are black and white, brand new and completely re-upholsterd. All electrical equipment has been upgraded, along with all of the gauges. A 200 watt four speaker stereo is installed, with cassette player and auxiliary hook up, for MP3 or CD players. Under the hood is a completely rebuilt 292 cu. in. V8 automatic engine with all new accessories (water pump, fuel pump, coils, etc); the water pump has a higher output pulley for much improved cooling to prevent overheating while on the highway or while idling. This vehicle was also converted from a 6V generator to a 12V alternator electrical system. Additional special upgrades include: "Greendot" three speed automatic transmission and electric ignition vs. points. All work on the vehicle has been professionally done at a cost of over $56,000, with less than 500 miles driven since restoration began. USPS releases hot rod stamps to speed up your delivery
Sun, 08 Jun 2014After one of the worst winters in recent memory for much of the country, summer is finally here. It's time to drop the top, open the sunroof or at least put down the windows and take a long drive. The United States Postal Service is celebrating the season's sun in automotive style with two new hot rod Forever stamps.
Both stamps depict classic '32 Ford hot rods. One shows the car from the front at a low angle in red (pictured above), while the other depicts the car from the back in black with flames running down the side.
To introduce the new stamps on their first day of availability, the USPS went straight to the source at the National Street Rod Association Street Rod Nationals in York, PA. They were unveiled by Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe, Car Crazy host Barry Meguiar and NSRA Special Events Director Jerry Kennedy.
2016 Ford Taurus to ride atop reworked Fusion platform
Wed, 19 Mar 2014Generally, cars get bigger and heavier as they get older. That's why it looks so ridiculous when you park a classic Mini next to a modern version. The same can be said of the Corvette, the BMW 3 Series, Porsche 911 and, of course, the Ford Taurus. In the Taurus' case, though, that size has become a liability, particularly because the big brute isn't nearly as sizable on the inside as it is on the out.
For 2016, Ford is aiming to rectify that. According to Edmunds, the 2016 Taurus will ride on a stretched and widened Ford Fusion platform. Ford is expecting this move to go a long way in trimming the Taurus' ample body fat.
"The problem with today's Taurus is that it is overweight and even the high performance SHO is not really competitive," said a source that spoke to Edmunds on condition of anonymity. The 365-horsepower SHO variant, "actually weighs about as much as the stretched Audi A8 L. Of course, Audi uses an extensive amount of aluminum, but it is a much bigger car."
Second part of Forza Horizon 3 car list revealed early
Tue, Jul 26 2016We previously brought you the first portion of Forza Horizon 3's list of 350 cars last week, and today we're bringing you part two. Apparently Fairfax Media in Australia had the list and images early and published them on The Sydney Morning Herald's website . We say early because the publication's story reveals that Playground Games, the developer of the game, plans to make the official announcement on the Forza website this Wednesday. This set of virtual machinery brings us closer to the full list, which will continue to be revealed over the coming weeks. While this part is smaller than the first one, it still features a number of notable automobiles, including the Bugatti EB110 Super Sport, GMC Syclone and Ferrari Dino 246 GT. This list also adds more vintage Aussie machines, including the very cool 1974 Holden "Sandman" HQ panel truck. Fans of the Mad Max movies may remember Max's Sandman truck from the original film.
