I am selling my 1963 Ford Thunderbird which is a Limited Edition Thunderbird Landau called the "Principality of Monaco". Only 2,000 of these cars were produced and each one was individually numbered 1 through 2,000. Technically there were only 1,981 of this model available to the public since the first was retired upon the death of Princess Grace (Grace Kelly) and was put in Monaco's Royal Museum where is remains today, and cars 2 through 19 were sent to Ford District offices around the country for display and auto shows. Princess Grace of Monaco was consulted for the color scheme of the Limited Edition Landau, beige being her favorite color and was originally planned for the exterior paint it was decided on September 19th 1962 to go with Rose Beige Vinyl over Corinthian White. This car is number 807 and is all original, I am only the third owner of the car and it has spent the majority of its life in California and has never seen any salt. As a result it is in excellent shape and has no rust and is solid everywhere. The only location where there is a little bit of rust is below the rear window, but is easily fixable and is not major (pictured). Also on the driver side the rear quarter has a large dent but is not rotted through anywhere because of it, otherwise the body is very straight, the chrome trim piece that runs the length behind the door to the rear of the car is also bent, but I purchased a replacement which will come with the car. The interior as expected as being an original car is faded and needs work but for its age is in excellent condition and I did not find many broken pieces or trim pieces. Other than the rear seat having a split and the drivers cushion being worn away (resulting in cracking of the side trim panel on the lower seat) the interior is in good shape. The color combination on the Principality of Monaco edition was only available for this car which was a Corinthian White Paint (paint code M), Dark Rose Beige Vinyl roof (code E), Pearl White leather seats (trim code 83), Dark Rose Beige padded dash and carpet including carpeted door trim panel bottoms, Simulated Rosewood trim on console, instrument panel, door handles, rear quarter trim panels, and seat back emblem inserts. Other options and differences from the base models include the rear fender shields, white tilt-away steering wheel with unique insert, white background on S-bar inserts, numbered nameplate mounted on the console, monotone vinyl door and quarter trim panels, and it is supposed to have the wire-wheel hubcaps but I do not have them, I do have 3 other Thunderbird hubcaps (pictured) that will come with the car. Mechanically the car is in good shape and strong and the 330HP, 390 with 4 bbl carb (6.4 liter) runs smooth but could use a tune up (carb rebuild, plugs, wires, fresh gas, etc.). The brakes need some work as expected. The Shift O-Matic transmission shifts well and feels very strong. The exhaust is not rotted and is very quiet. It has 74,533 original miles, and was regularly serviced. It also has factory air (not functioning currently), power seats, power windows, and power steering as well as many other advanced options for the year. The tires are in decent shape and all hold air. Also coming with the car is the original owners manual, advertisement piece, wiring manual, shop manual, and other vintage Thunderbird magazines. The car comes with a good clean New York registration, VIN # 3Y872140419. The car was registered in 2012 as well. There are only 15 of these cars known to exist still today, I have heard this from a number of sources and other restoration companies. As you will see, they are not a common car to find and I have not seen others on Ebay.
The car is sold where is, as is. No refunds, and a non refundable deposit of $500.00 is due within 24 hours at the end of the auction. The remainder of the money is to be paid by cash, Paypal or money order within 7 days after the auction and the car needs to be picked up 14 days after the end of the auction. Registration and car will be released after all funds are cleared at my house. Shipping and delivery are your responsibility, again I am not responsible for shipment or delivery, please arrange this ahead of time. If you have any questions feel free to message me and please look at all pictures which show many views/angles of the vehicle to accurately show imperfections and condition. Please only bid if you are serious, canceling bids or accidentally placing bids on your end creates a large hassle with Ebay. Since I have the car advertised locally I reserve the right the end the auction early. Thank You for your time and please read the description, again if I have left anything out that you would like to know about I am happy to answer any questions you have. Happy Bidding!!

I read over my description once more and I did not mention a slight wrinkle in the lower passenger rocker, I'm not sure it is clearly visible in the pictures or not but I thought that I would mention it to be absolutely clear. Trying to represent the car as accurately as possible, thank you for the understanding.

Motorweek goes retro with '80s hot hatch shootout

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Motorweek's decades of history on television make it the perfect medium to look back into the automotive past and see how things are different now. It recently added old road test videos to its YouTube channel of the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra, as well as the Ferrari F40. For one of its newest flashback clips, Motorweek has exhumed an affordable five-car challenge of 1986's premiere hot hatches.
By today's standards, this is an eclectic field that features fondly remembered classics like the Volkswagen GTI 16-valve and Acura Integra. However, it also throws in some nearly forgotten contenders like the Dodge Colt Turbo and Ford Escort GT. The angular Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S rounds out the group.
It's fascinating to watch Motorweek run the quintet through the slalom, down the drag strip and on various roads. What's most striking in this clip is the difference in the definition of a performance car between then and now. With its 16-valve, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, the GTI is the burliest of the contenders with 123 horsepower, but it still takes 8.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. By today's standards, that would make it a plain-jane economy car, and not even a particularly quick one.

Unrestored 1969 Shelby GT500 one of many classic barn finds going to auction

Wed, 19 Mar 2014

We love a good barn find here at Autoblog. We like that there's a palpable excitement and sense of mystery surrounding barn finds. Each case has its own uniqueness to it, and this latest discovery is no different: an unrestored, one-owner 1969 Shelby GT500 with just 8,531 miles on it.
In the case of this particular barn find, many of the typical questions have already been answered. For example, we know who owned it - his name was Larry Brown. He recently passed away, and as he had no wife or children to inherit the estate, the car he purchased at Pennsylvania Ford dealer in May of 1969, will be auctioned off by Ron Gilligan Auctioneers.
The car was fastidiously maintained, having never been driven in the rain. In fact, Brown never even washed it, out of fear of it rusting. According to the auction website, the last time this car saw water was probably when it was detailed ahead of being delivered to Brown. If that doesn't sound like a fanatical sense of maintenance on the part of this GT500's owner, this next part will. The interior has been treated to a similarly painstaking attempt at preservation, with garbage bags covering the seats and two layers of floor mats over the carpets. The result is a car that, aesthetically, is in remarkable shape considering it's spent so long in a barn.

Ford Focus ST checks into Jay Leno's Garage

Mon, 23 Sep 2013

In a change of pace from the high-end vehicles that often appear in Jay Leno's Garage, Ford sends its hottest hatchback (in the US, at least), the 252-horsepower Focus ST, to be featured on Leno's show. Accompanying the five-door hatch is its chief engineer, Jamal Hameedi.
Riding on stylish 18-inch wheels with summer tires and with a spoiler that doubles as a lunch tray, Hameedi and Leno walk us through the finer points of what makes the ST special, which also includes bigger brakes, torque vectoring, a manual transmission and, of course, 252 hp and 270 pound-feet of torque from the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which is made possible by 21 psi of turbocharged boost.
Watch the video below to see what Leno thinks of the global Focus ST.
