Up for sale is my 2003 silver Ford Taurus SE. Car is in great mechanical condition. Hop in and drive!   I have the clear title in my name.

Car is equipped with the 3.0L Vulcan SOHC V6. Has just over 150k miles (will go up as it is driven). Gets pretty nice mileage, especially on the highway (mid/upper 20s).

This car began its life as a company car for The Cincinnati Insurance Company (so don't be concerned if the history report shows that the car was titled to an insurance company). It was meticulously kept up with Ford's recommended maintenance intervals. In 2008, when the car reached 120k (the mileage at which our company retires vehicles), the field rep purchased it and made it his spare car, continuing the maintenance schedule.

In December 2011, his wife rear ended someone, and since they did not have collision coverage, they decided to sell it.  This is the only accident this car has ever been in that I know of. The extent of the damage is what you see: there is a small dent on the hood and some scratches on the bumper. That's pretty much it.  The hood opens and closes just fine, but you do need to assist it when popping it (it doesn't "pop" up anymore.  You have to lift while pulling the hood release).

A set of 4 brand new tires were installed in August 2011 at 135k and a brand new battery was installed in the fall, just before the car was sold to me. Tires have about 55% tread left.

I purchased the car in December 2011 when it had 136k. It has been a great vehicle. We took it to Florida over Thanksgiving and I took it to Tennesse back in Sept 2012. It took both trips in stride. Since I have owned it, I have performed the following maintenance:
New front brake pads and rotors (Feb 2012)
New starter motor (Thanksgiving 2012)
New alternator (Dec 2012)
Regular oil changes at every 3,000-3,500 mile

Has typical dings for a car of this age. No rust in the rear quarter panels like you typically see on Tauruses.  Does drip oil, but nothing serious; only a few little spots.  Doesn't leak anything else that I am aware of.  AC and heat work great.  Cassette player used to work great, but seems to be fading (like, you really have to crank it up to hear anything).  Not sure if it's my tape, or if it's the player.  Radio works awesomely and all 4 stock speakers sound nice.

Please keep in mind that this is a 10 year old car.  It isn't new.  While it runs and drives perfectly, I may have missed something, or something could go out.  I don't expect anything to go wrong, and there isn't anything going bad that I know of, but that risk exists with any used vehicle of any age.  Given that we took it on two big trips within the last 6 months, I don't forsee why it couldn't be driven across the country, and I personally would take it on a long trip again since I know it hasn't been driven hard during its life.

A $250 non-refundable deposit via Paypal is expected withing 48 hours.  If I am the reason the transaction cannot be completed, I will refund the deposit.  Remaining balance must be paid in *CASH* (not Paypal, not check, no payments, etc), and car must be picked up within 10 days of auction end.  I don't offer shipping, mainly because I wouldn't know where to begin with one of those.

Expert: 54.5 mpg CAFE standard can be reached without many plug-ins

Sat, Jan 18 2014

Johnson Controls executive Brian Kesseler isn't likely to get any holiday presents this year from Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn or Tesla Motors head Elon Musk, but lots of other folks might be happy with what he has to say about automakers' efforts to reach stricter fleetwide fuel-economy standards. Speaking at the Automotive News World Congress, Kesseler said automakers wouldn't need to sell an extensive number of plug-in vehicles in order to meet the 54.5 mile per gallon Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard the US government set in 2012 for 2025 model-year vehicles. In fact, he said, components such as stop-start engine technology, turbochargers and direct injection may actually do the trick. Already, things like smaller engine sizes and lighter cars are already playing major roles in spurring fuel-efficiency gains. Of course, Johnson Controls sells batteries specially built for stop-start systems, so Kesseler does have a bit of skin in this game. The 54.5-mpg CAFE standard equates to about a 40-mpg "real world" fuel-efficiency level. To put that into perspective, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said in a report late last year that model-year 2013 average fuel economy was an even 24 mpg. That was up from 23.6 mpg for the 2012 model year and 22.4 mpg for 2011. 2014 Roush Stage 3 Mustang

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

Up until now, it's been some years since I managed to get behind the wheel of the hot Mustangs tuned by the folks at Roush Performance. My memories of those vehicles are fond, as the Roush up-fits usually make for better-driving examples of the iconic Ford pony, with better-tuned suspensions, excellent short-shift kits and, of course, huge additions of power. The wake-your-neighbors aural characteristics of these cars have been nothing short of outstanding, too.
But in the years since my last experience with the Roush formula, Ford's own development team has churned out some pretty potent 'Stangs. We currently live in a world where the Blue Oval will sell you a Mustang with 662 horsepower from the factory, and the recently departed Boss 302 remains one of the best Mustangs - and best sports coupes - the Autoblog crew has ever driven.
So with great-driving and hugely powerful Mustangs coming straight off the line at Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant, does the Roush package still offer that extra special something to make it stand out? I spent a week with a Stage 3 coupe to find out.

Ram 1500 bests new F-150 in MT pickup shootout

Tue, Nov 25 2014

Ford's 2015 Ford F-150 is a technological tour-de-force, what with its aluminum-intensive construction and its powerful and efficient new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine option. But now that it's hit the market, it's time to get down to brass tacks and find out how just the latest F-150 actually stands up to its rivals in the hyper-competitive fullsize segment. Motor Trend is among the first to round up the Ford (in Lariat 2.7-liter 4X4 guise here) and put it up against the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman EcoDiesel 4x4 and 5.3-liter-equipped Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 to find out how Dearborn's new-think truck measures up. The test put the trio through over 1,000 miles of tough driving in California and Arizona in a variety of conditions from just cruising around unladen to hauling a trailer. MT found all three trucks to be competent, but the most praise got heaped on the Ram and the Ford, with the Chevrolet falling a step behind its competitors in many tests. Among the Ford's most-liked features was its 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 that helped make the F-150 easily the quickest of the group, with some editors saying the engine felt about the same whether driving around with cargo in the bed or not. There was some minor turbo lag during acceleration while trailering, but that issue affected the Ram, too. The Ram's powertrain was lauded, as well. The EcoDiesel was torquey around town, and the 1500's combination of an eight-speed automatic and air suspension was judged to be the best of the lot. It was the most difficult to get into the bed, though. The Ram also won the fuel economy award by netting 20-miles-per-gallon city and 28-mpg highway in the test to beat its Environmental Protection Agency ratings of 19/27. The Ford's EcoBoost managed 17/22, one mpg off each from the EPA numbers, and using a lot of throttle really depleted its efficiency. As MT notes, however, it would take time for the diesel's mileage savings to pay off at the pump for these two trucks. In the end, the Ram just barely eked out the win, with the title partially earned because of "the Ford's unknown maintenance and aluminum repair costs," according to MT. Go check out the full comparison to read all of the details, then let us know what you think in Comments.
