1998 Ford Taurus 3.0 Liter V6 154,000 Miles Bad Transmission on 2040-cars
Rockaway Beach, Missouri, United States
This auction is for a 1998 Ford Taurus sedan. The car has currently has 154,000 miles and has been in the family since about 40,000 miles. It was originally purchased around 2000 by my In-laws used and had just been repaired from a rear-end collision by a professional shop were an entire rear clip had been installed hence the rebuilt title. The motor runs very strong and has been very well maintained with the oil being changed every 3,000 miles. On a weekend trip back in October the transmission suddendly stopped working with no previous warning and the car was towed to its current location. It will not move at all in forward or reverse and will have to be trailored off. The car had new brakes installed less than 1,000 miles ago. The tires are in fair condition, but will need to be replaced before to long. The battery has also gone dead from sitting through the winter and will have to be replaced. It was involved in a minor fender bender last summer that is the reason for the primered passenger side fender and scuffed up bumper cover, the accident was just cosmetic and did not have any mechanical affects. The vehicle is being sold as is with no returns, and I have tried to describe it to the best of my ability since I am no mechanic. The car must be picked up near Rockaway Beach, MO 65740 at the buyers expense. Thanks for looking and feel free to ask any questions. |

Why Ford's Alan Mulally would be right for Microsoft, or any company
Thu, 03 Oct 2013
That Mulally was seriously being considered says a great deal about Microsoft and Mulally.
It appears that the chatter about Ford CEO Alan Mulally possibly leaving early to take over as CEO of Microsoft is losing air pretty fast. What's pretty interesting is that it got any traction in the first place.
NHTSA closes book on Ford, GM probes of 600,000 vehicles
Thu, Nov 27 2014US safety regulators have closed a pair of investigations into some 500,000 Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Marauder sedans built between 2004 to 2007, and 100,000 Chevrolet Impala models from 2014. The Ford investigation focused on rusting heat shields, which may become dislodged and jam the steering, according to Reuters. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that this happened very rarely. In fact, of the ten incidents filed with the government safety watchdog, six came from a single police department, which evidently had some sort of problem with its reporting. As for the Impala, the NHTSA investigators attributed two incidences of "unintended autonomous braking" to user error. In both cases, the vehicles were involved in rear-end collisions. According to GM investigators, it's believed that drivers accidentally activated the electric parking brake, causing the collisions. The vehicles in question were rental cars. Ford open to diesel, hybrid or electric Mustang? [w/poll]
Sun, 08 Dec 2013The Ford Mustang may not be the first vehicle that comes to mind when you think of environmentally-friendly forms of transportation. The arrival of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the new Mustang could do a lot to combat that perception, but the EcoBoost engine may just be the tip of the iceberg in that regard.
Speaking with Ford powertrain boss Bob Fascetti at the reveal of the new Mustang in Australia, GoAuto reports that the Blue Oval automaker is considering offering its latest pony car with a diesel, hybrid or even electric powertrain in the future.
"We're not looking at diesel at the moment, but given where we need to go with fuel consumption we are looking at all our options," said Fascetti. Other options could include a nine- or ten-speed automatic transmission to replace the current six-speed unit in order to help improve fuel economy and emissions for the Mustang, although figures for the current lineup have yet to be revealed.
