Beautiful red 1994 Ford Taurus Sho.  This Sho is original, other than the paint.  This is a rare and unmolested Sho.  These are getting harder and harder to find, especially one with such a nice exterior and interior.  The 3.2 Yamaha V6 with factory 220 horsepower runs great.  The engine does not overheat or sound like it is falling apart.  The acceleration is there when you need it.   Automatic transmission shifts like it should.  It you punch the accelerator, the car will accelerate very quickly.  Factory dual stock exhaust sounds good.

The car was painted approximately 5 years ago.  It was a very nice paint job.  Not perfect, but a solid 8 or 9 out of 10.  I get lots of stares and compliments everywhere I go.  The original slicer rims look nice.  The body has some minor door dings, but no other body damage.  The cladding and body parts are all there, and they look nice.  There are only two small areas of rust:  First one is on just behind the rear passenger door.  It is on the upper rear pillar area.  The other one is on the same side on the lower quarter panel area.  Both are about the size of a 50 cent piece.  I took photographs of both of them.  You can't see them unless you are close to the car and looking for them.  They are starting to bubble under the paint.  The rest of the body looks very, very nice.  No rust including the trunk lip, door jambs, etc. When you look under this car, you will see a clean car that is not ate up with rust.  Tires, brakes, and exhaust are good.  Suspension feels fine.  Car drives and stops straight.   Interior is very nice.  The leather is a solid 9.5 out of 10.  This includes both front and rear seats.  Carpet looks almost like new.  Headliner, door panels, etc. look great.  (little marks on both arm areas of front doors from being 20 years old).  Some of the interior trim pieces are broken, but these can be easily replaced.  A vent or two has the plastic broken too.  Auto climate control works perfectly, but the buttons are worn/cracked like almost all other Sho's.  Dash looks like new.  All glass is in great shape.  No funny smells, and no evidence of past smokers.

This car is basically ready to drive across the country.  I drove the car to Miami three weeks ago, and it ran perfect both ways.  I parked it in my garage when I got back home, and it has not moved.  You can pick this Sho up and drive it home, wherever that may be.  There are some minor issues with some of the power options, etc.  I am going to list everything that I can think of.  Remember, the car is 20 years old, and you are going to have some minor things wrong.  The good thing is that these things can be fixed a little at a time.

The car has 185,000 miles on it.  I was told when I bought the car that the engine had been rebuilt not too long ago.  I had a mechanic check the engine and he said that it has high compression and seems to run very well.  After sitting in my garage for 3 weeks, I had a small oil spot on the garage floor.  It is about the size of a quarter.  I do not know where it is coming from.  I have not had to add any oil.  Whevever it is leaking from, it has to be very minor.  Valve cover gaskets will eventually need to be replaced like most Sho's.  They have a very small seepage out of the one side.  I cleaned it up and it did not leak at all on my trip to Miami. The check engine light comes on some times.  The code showed that it had a bad egr valve.  I had one installed.  Then it threw a code for a crank sensor.  I had that replaced.  Now it is off, but it could come right back on.  This is emission only, so it does not effect the operation.  The idle is smooth, and the acceleration is smooth.

Transmisson works perfectly.  The overdrive button on the side of the gear shift does not work.  Not that you would ever use it unless you are towing a trailer.
Air conditioner works great, and will freeze you out.  The bearing on the compressor is just starting to go out, and it has a minor squeal.  If the squeal bothers you, you will have to replace the compressor.  Eventually, I am sure it will go out.
Air bag light flashes on and off.  Code shows that a ground wire is off.  I have not been able to locate the loose connection as of yet.  I do not have the equipment to trace it down.
Outside keyless entry does not work to unlock car.  It will lock doors, etc. Not sure what is wrong with it.
Cd player does not work.  Fuse, broke, short?
Rear driver's power window only operates when it wants to.
Factory radio amplifier for radio seems to shut off when you put the brakes on.  Electrical problem somewhere.
Coolant recover tank (reservoir) for radiator has a leak.  It will eventually need to be fixed or replaced.  This is the little tank that holds any overfill from the radiator.  I just noticed it yesterday.
Power sunroof works 99 percent of the time.  Seems like a rare short.
If you read everything above, and also according to the mechanic, there could be just a main loose ground wire that is causing these items not to work, or to work at times.  Unknown if this is correct or not.
All lights are functional including fog lamps.  Interior lamps work correctly.

So there you have it.  Sho's are tempermental, and usually always need some type of tinkering to them.  On the plus side, they are rare and are great performance cars for the money.  Most people do not even know what they are until you pop the hood.

I bought this car about a year ago with the intention of keeping it, and slowly making it perfect.  After receiving 5 tickets in my gated community as well as numerous warning letters, I must part with my toy.  Seems like I have a rule that I can't park any cars on the street after darkness.  My wife is tired of her car sitting outside, so the Sho must go.  I was told that this car only had older mature owners such as myself.  I would say that is true by looking at it.  The car has also spent the majority of its life right here in Florida.  I have only put 1,000 miles on it or so, and have only driven it on beautiful sunny days.

I have not set any reserve.  The higest bid will win this car, unless someone uses the buy it now price. Please remember that once you buy the car, it is yours. $250.00 deposit within 24 hours of winning the car through paypal.  The remainder must be paid in cash and the car picked up within 7 days unless other arrangements have been made and approved by me. If you want to know something about the car, or see something, please ask.  I reserve the right to remove the car at any time, as I am going to advertise it locally too.  If the car does run the course through the auction though, I will honor the bid regardless of the price.  Clear title in hand and ready to go.   With the great slicers, body panels, interior pieces, power options, leather seats, etc.....this car would be a good buy even if it did not run.  Well, as I said, this car is ready to drive to California.  Good luck!

On Jun-14-13 at 17:19:04 PDT, seller added the following information:

Two more things.   The button on the gear shift that I listed above allows you to manually drop the car down from fourth gear (overdrive) to third gear.  The transmission shifts great through all four gears the way it is.  If you decide to tow a heavy trailer or pull something, you may want to get it fixed.  I never had time to check this button out.  It probably is something easy like a fuse or loose connection, but I do not know this for sure.

The power antenna does not operate, which makes me think that loose ground wire could be causing most of these little electical problems stated above.

Ford sued over alleged 3.5-liter EcoBoost defects

Thu, 16 May 2013

Three Ford owners from Ohio have filed a lawsuit against the automaker over defects that they allege exist within the company's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. Automotive News reports that the lawsuit claims the engine "contained serious latent design, manufacturing, or assembly defects." Those defects, the suit claims, cause the vehicle to shake, misfire and lose power quickly.
Two of the plaintiffs, a married couple, own a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, and allege they experienced a loss of power and stalling, while the third, an F-150 owner, claims he lost power while accelerating. In addition to the Taurus SHO and F-150, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine is also available in the Ford Flex, Explorer Sport and Lincoln MKT and MKS. Other three- and four-cylinder EcoBoost engines are not included in the suit. There have been no recalls associated with 3.5-liter V6 engine, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently not investigating the matter.
The plaintiffs, however, claim Ford has known about the problem, citing several technical service bulletins issued to dealers of the F-150 that suggest possible fixes. Ford had no comment for Automotive News, saying that it's yet to review the lawsuit, which was filed last Friday in Columbus, OH.

Ford bringing C-Max Solar Energi Concept to CES

Thu, 02 Jan 2014

Solar energy might not be enough to power a usable electric vehicle on its own, but that doesn't mean it can't lend a helping hand. And that's what Ford has in store for the Consumer Electronics Show opening next week in Las Vegas.
Ford has essentially taken its C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid and fitted it with the latest in solar panel technology developed by SunPower, acting like a magnifying glass to capture as much of the sun's energy as possible. So you get the benefit of an electric vehicle, with the range assurance of a hybrid, without needing to draw from the grid.
Ford estimates that a day of charging in the sunshine will give the C-Max Solar Energi concept the same full charge as the production PHEV, with a total range of 620 miles - 21 of which can be run on electric power alone. Otherwise the vehicle - which remains a concept for the time being - is identical to the existing C-Max Energi. The top-selling model in Ford's growing hybrid and electric vehicle portfolio helps put Ford just behind Toyota among the top seller of hybrids in America. Scope out the images in the gallery above and the video clip and press release below for a closer look.

Company veterans promoted to set a course for the future of Ford

Wed, Apr 10 2019

Ford on Wednesday named two company veterans to lead its auto and mobility businesses as the No. 2 U.S. automaker shifts its focus to autonomous vehicles and realigns its automobile portfolio. Joe Hinrichs was named president of Ford's automotive unit, and Jim Farley will be president, new businesses, technology and strategy, effective May 1. Both will report to Chief Executive Officer Jim Hackett. Hinrichs' goal will be a sustainable EBIT margin (earnings before interest and taxes) of at least 8 percent, Ford said. He'll have responsibility for all of Ford's global business units, and both the Ford and Lincoln brands. And he'll lead all of the automotive skills teams, from product development through customer experience. "Joe Hinrichs possesses the knowledge, experience and leadership to now take our Automotive business to world-class levels of product excellence, customer satisfaction, efficiency and financial performance," Hackett said. "As we enter a busy period for new product launches and further restructuring in underperforming markets, Joe's leadership in transforming businesses through focused execution will be key." Farley is charged with leading Ford's strategic transformation, in which it hopes to gain higher margins through smart/connected vehicles. He'll oversee corporate strategy, global data analytics, global partnerships, research and advanced engineering, including initiatives in smart mobility and autonomous vehicles. "Jim Farley's job is to drive us into the future, both strategically and operationally, from AVs to mobility experiences to leveraging AI and big data. Jim combines an innate feel for what customers want and need in vehicles and the ability to translate this into the vehicles and services of the future," Hackett said. Marcy Klevorn, president of Ford Mobility, plans to retire Oct. 1 after 36 years at Ford. Until then, she will report to Hackett in a strategic role. "I have asked Marcy to work with me and the senior team to accelerate our transformation," Hackett said. "Marcy's decades of experience working with many of the leading companies in the tech space as well as the work she has done with the transformation of Ford IT and the establishment of Ford Mobility gives her unique knowledge to drive these initiatives."
